Thanks a lot for going over eBird. I started using eBird in January 2021. It’s really cool and I learned a few things today! Great introduction.

It's not only "some older birders" who want to remain anonymous. There are other reasons for that besides being old. This is a very good video though. Thanks for posting it!

I have an eBird checklist streak of 1,036 days. In other words, I have issues.
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 2 жыл бұрын
Fun fact. If you miss a day you can go back and add a checklist of what you saw and it will give you your streak back.

HI just I want to Know how to uploading a picture on eBird bird on PC please Many thanks
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 3 жыл бұрын
Watch until 6:08 in the video to get your checklist to that point. Then, if you hit submit on that checklist it should give you the option to "add media". You can hit that on the species you want to add the picture of and select the photo from your computer. It should load and then you should be able to finish submitting. Hope that helps!

What you said about the app from 1:35 to 1:50 is very interesting. But I have a question. Does this feature work if one is in an area with no cell or data coverage whatsoever? Most of the places I go birding at are quite remote, and have not kind of signal at all. No cell signal, no data, no internet, etc. So will this feature work in those spots, or am I pretty much just out of luck, and only able to use that great feature in the few places that actually have cell service?
@BadgerlandBirding

Which specific feature? There are some things that will work without reception but others that don’t.

Can I put in historical observations to use as a life list? What if you aren't sure of the ID, will someone identify it like iNaturalist does? Thanks 😊
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 3 жыл бұрын
1. When you’re putting in type of sighting you can choose “historical” if you’re not too sure about the specific details and want to record species you’ve seen in the past for your list, so yes! 2. eBird doesn’t have an option to put “unknown” species you’d like identified but there are several Bird ID groups on Facebook where you can post photos and people will help you ID them. The Merlin Bird ID app may also be of interest for you to try. You can upload/take a photo and it will do its best at ID-ing it for you/at least narrow it down to some possible options. However, if a species is misidentified in eBird a reviewer will likely email you saying they think it’s a different species and why. Hope that helps!

@@BadgerlandBirding Thanks! I'm going to have fun looking through old trip photos for birds to add to my historical sightings 😊 Do any of the Facebook bird ID groups include international sightings (Europe, Africa, South America)?
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 3 жыл бұрын
@@Carrie401 they sure do! There’s one called something like “The Facebook Bird ID group of the world” and then one called “What’s this bird?” that cover species worldwide and I’m sure there are more/maybe even specific ones for those locations.

Can anyone help me please? I'm German, I have been using ebird for a while and I am not quite happy with it but not sure if it's just because I'm too stupid oo understand... One thing I never found out is how I can see a complete list of all the sightings of ONE special bird??? (not in the map!!) e.g. all the song trushes that were reported in Germany (chronological list with dates and name of area/city). I know how to see all of my own sightings but what if I want to see all the others as well? I use a similar German website (called Naturgucker) which provides such lists for every species and I find it really helpful. Am I too stupid to understand ebird or is that really not possible to find such a list on ebird?
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 3 жыл бұрын
You’re definitely not stupid! That’s a tricky one. I’m going to do some research and will reply back if I find a good way to do so.
