What a spectacular place they visited, California is a dream in landscapes, with a lot of fauna, especially a variety of colorful birds. Impressive how you travel your country

Wow I’m in central California at the same time as y’all! Just drove through Fresno and now we’re staying just outside of Sequoia. My first bird here was indeed a House Sparrow at SFO! Seen 20ish lifers in the past week. The Crescent Meadow at Sequoia was teeming with bird songs well into the hottest part of the afternoon, although the ferns made them hard to get eyes on. There we saw a Red-naped Sapsucker spotted by a non-birding friend, as well as a napping bear. At our airbnb we saw a California Quail family with at least a dozen chicks. Hoping to see a Stellar’s Jay before we leave!

in SoCal we have a lot of few exotic birds like; Northern Red Bishop, Yellow-crowned Bishop, Scaly breasted Munia, Pin tailed Whydah, Red Whiskered Bulbul, Swinhoe's white-eye and a couple of Wild Parrots to name a few.

It was so amusing to me seeing y'all scurry to see a Stellar's Jay b/c I'm up on Mt. Lemmon right now and there's tons around our cabin, haha. Also been hearing and occasionally seeing the Western Flycatcher but it's a sneaky lil dude. Also I think I have heard the Northern Pygmy Owl from the cabin deck at dusk before and tried in vain to find it but no luck.

Great video. California is just so beautiful and the birding is fantastic. I've only been to Cali for one birding trip a few years ago and it was amazing. This video brought back memories.

Pygmy owls are very tough birds to find, but more than worth it when you finally do. The gray jays in my area do perfect pymgy owl calls, so you have to get eyes on it to be sure. Hope you two can manage it next time!

We make videos about some specific places we go birding and then also videos about the full day that encompass some of the same things with new things added as well.

Great video enjoyed your other California videos and look forward to more. We have the most interesting topography in the world, from coastal redwoods to the Central Valley to the Big Sur coastline to the High Sierra to Death Valley and the Eastern Sierra. Also the biggest tree in the world - the Redwood- and the oldest tree in the world, the Ancient Bristlecone

Great video look forward to more of your videos in California. I live in the San Joaquin Valley, which is greedy in the winter time because of the Pacific Flyway. but also spend time on the central coast and up in the Sierra. We have the most varied topography of any place in the world.

Correct me if I’m wrong but did I hear a Western Wood-Pewee at 7:46 and 7:50? It sounded like a buzzy “BREeer”. I also heard it at 8:12 and 8:17.

It should be California Jay if the NACC even cared about their own naming rules. It should have returned to that old name when it was split from the Western Scrub-Jay.
