A hardtail would definitely be more fun on the downhill single track sections but there was a fair amount of road in this edition so would be frustrating on these sections.

Little help then your Di2 runs out of batterie. You can swap the batteries from your Di2, so you could change from the big ring to the small ring in the front. Otherwise, well done mate !

Yoo! Crazy adventure, but no sleep gear? That’s madness. Skipping sleep is not only unhealthy but takes a while for the body to recalibrate. This should above all be a fun exercise, not an anti snooze protest! 😂😂😂 Well Done and nice to see familiar faces like Tristan BMc’ing his way round the Nevada. I think next year you gotta grow up a little in the tyre department, not be shy to wear 45’s! 😂😂😂 keep pedalling and appreciate the efforts in taking me along. Now let me go get a cool one!

good one Josh follow your dot as a few other friends ... I have 2 questions for you ... 1. how to reach that level.... or how one should feel when the front runners are making 99 % to 1% in a gravel hot hard desert ultra race. 2. how compare this badlands to the Panceltic race... well thats it cheers.

Its such a long race that you don’t want to dig yourself into a hole early on. Most of that front group started way too fast with only a handful able to hold it for the duration. I always get slightly carried away but eventually you just have to let them go and go at your own pace. The panceltic was mostly road with the odd off-road section that you can just about manage on a road bike where as badlands is heavily off-road and requires a gravel bike. It’s also a lot hotter.

That actually didn't look you had much fun doing it, but probably after it. Because you achieved something?! What exactly, except for suffering?! 😅 I don't understand "Ultra", especially the sleep deprivation thing. I like to challenge myself, but some well needed rest afterwards is well deserved and reasonable so you don't injure yourself.
