I love me some Larry, but Larry never carried some really shity/mediocre teams to the finals. Bird, while amazing, always had 2 other HOF'ers or 3 allsters....Lebron took a bunch of literally no ones to the finals with Cleveland. Not even sure how that happened. However...lol Lebron...good luck this year with Westbrook still on your team. Time to start making movies :D

@@Michael-ii9fs Early on that wasn't "as much" the case. If anything, James would have benefitted MORE from playing in that era. Far less reliance on shooting, his speed/size/strength....think Karl Malone but faster, and a much better passer/ball handler. It doesn't matter, of course...we are splitting hairs with the top 5 or 10 ever, IMO.

@@Acepa16 Charles Oakley, Orlando Woolridge were awesome players. Jordan wasn’t ready to win when he first came into the league. Bird on the other hand created the largest single season turnaround in league history as a rookie. And oh yeah, take a look at that game winner again, bubba. That’s a Phil Jackson coached Scottie Pippen and Jordan getting that winner in their faces, smart guy. As we say in Indiana… Stick that in your pipe and smoke it

@@joetoppe4643 listen you noodle, woolridge was soon let go by the bulls so Jordan and him didn’t even have no real play time but one good season and Jordan was a rookie then, and Scottie pippen was drafted in 87’ you fool… Jordan had to mold him to a better and confident player and that took four seasons to do idiot, by that time woolridge been gone, and Phil was just becoming there coach in 89-90 , Larry bird at had the best team and a bunch of hall of famers on that roster from the time he Was drafted and came into the league and he just made them better with his leadership and skills also , so shut up and take his nuts out your mouth and breathe a bit. Jordan roster didn’t get competitive until 90’ and that’s a fact, he was carrying nobodies since his rookie season , he was the reason the bulls started selling tickets again and turned that franchise around and city so go back to your bubble

@@secoTheSonicFan True, and Bird was perhaps the best team player. I don't understand how people can say the team was among the best though. Magic played on a team that would be hard to beat man to man. Boston was considered great because Bird wanted to win and so included and encouraged his team mates to play team ball. He wasn't afraid to pass the ball at all and actually did it most plays. It's just the fact he was on the team that made it great. Compare Birds team with magic's and then say he played on a better team. Don't hold water there bud.

Bird was the smartest most clutch player to ever play. I can only remember one time that bird missed a game winning shot. It was 1987 finals against Lakers. Bird hit a 3 with 12 seconds left. For me Larry,Magic, and Jordan are a different tier of legend than every other star in the sport. Those 3 contributed so much to the sport I do not believe there is a player playing right now that could come close to these power 3 players. Larry was the founding member of the 50 40 90 club and was 3 point champ 3 years in a row before his injuries took him out for a season. Larry is a better pure shooter than Steph. Three back to back 3 pt contest winner. Two 50/40/90 seasons. Three more where he was within 1% of 50/40/90. Yeah Steph takes more shots because that's the style of game play now, but you've seen enough of Larry now to know Larry could've taken just as many shots and not changed his stats. There's a documentary about Larry, in which he says during his childhood, he couldn't wait to get out of school each day because he would go to the West Baden hotel. There were several black guys who worked there and would let him play ball and he learned from them.

Magic and Bird are good friends since college. Larry Bird, the Hic from French Lick, Indiana. One of a kind for sure! People ask is Bird better than Jordan, LeBron, ect.. Look up Birds career record and you'll see who's the Goat. Magic is right with him. The 2 BEST NBA players, EVER, ...EVER!!!

No one had the quick footwork like Jordan (except maybe James Worthy) or his ability to fly through the air. But no one could play overall better than Bird. Concerning Jordan, Larry's record against Jordan was 17-11 regular season, 6-0 playoffs. Jordan got swept twice by Larry. No one else can say they did anything like that to Jordan. My top 3 all time are Larry, Magic, and Jordan, any order you choose. I'm from Arizona.

The one thing Jordan has on Bird, IMO, is defense. Larry was an adequate defender and an extraordinarily smart player. Michael was an elite defender, one of the best ever. I no longer believe there is any such thing as a GOAT. Too subjective. But defense is the only thing that really raises MJ above Larry in my book. They were both incredible offensively, although obviously quite different from one another. But MJ was so much better defensively, and that’s why he gets the edge for me. But like I said, all subjective.

@@76JStucki I don't to argue with BUT jordan was an elite defender against guards. He never took over a game on defense against 3's, 4's or 5's. Bird and every good to great big man kicked his ass in the post. Against guards yes but not the bigs.

BaffourHD, this was the best Larry Bird video I have ever seen! Thank you! Your comments and facial expressions are priceless and you are not, like many others, unable to give it up for a white player. This is not racist as for me, my favorite baseball player was Willie Mays and favorite boxer, Muhammad Ali. For the record, I am from NY and currently not a basketball fan. But when I was younger, it was the Celtics and Lakers rivalry that made me watch basketball. I have watched a plethora of videos of Larry Legend and all I can say is that he was superhuman. I would love to meet him to see if he had eyes in the back of his head. In my humble opinion, Bird was the smartest player to ever play the game of basketball. He and Magic literally saved the NBA at a time when it was failing. I have massive respect for Magic and agree that he is a top five player of all time but just as important, a real class act, something that is so lacking in the game today. They became, and still are good friends! Larry Legend and Magic, two of the most iconic players of all time!

Magic & Larry really did save the league. They were, in a way, like twins. They thought alike, the played alike.. They met in High School, when they were one the East vs West High school champions. They played so well together, they complimented each other. Magic loves everyone, and wanted to be friends with Larry the next Year, when they were CollegeFreshman. At the time, Larry viewed Magic as an enemy, becausethey were absolutely the best College players, and had that rivalry. Years latter, in the NBA, Bird was voted MVP of the Season. Converse made a Bird Shoe. A year or 2 later, Magic was MVP and Converse made him a shoe. Converse wanted to shoot a commercial with both of them. Larry said: only if Magic and the film crew come to French Lick. During the commercial, Larry met Erving, the man, the nice lovable side of Magic, They became best of friends.

I'm 38 and grew up in the Chicago suburbs watching MJ and the bulls will the title 6 times. I remember we would lower my friends basketball hoop and run across the front yard and try to jump over the driveway and dunk like Jordan. The NBA was so awesome back than with all those old school guys. So many good memories.

Bird won three MVP in a row, during the 80s, THE GREATEST ALL TIME NBA PLAYERS, he also dropped 47 on a game in Portland, Left handed! He played his entire career, with basically a broken back!! As a rookie in rookie camp, on his 3rd day in, he comes out and tells reporters -"this league is nothing, I will dominate this league!" That's balls.

Birds 1st year was the 1st year with a 3 point line. He didn’t grow up shooting them, didn’t shoot them in high school, didn’t shoot them in college, and didn’t start really shooting them in the NBA until KC took over in 84. If he played today he’d be much more efficient as he’d have practiced them his entire life, like the kids today. As it was, by his own admission, he only practiced 3’s for the all star shoot out.
