I think it would have done better if they cut the whole cannibal island section, but if you look at why he went there and why he left, it was good story progression. PotC2 would have also done better if they did not dilute Cpt Jack Sparrow's character for pointless comedic purpose, but the movie was made to entertain both young teens and adults alike, and I believe that it was a very good mixture of both comedic and dramatic. On the good notes, I do not think they could have built up the fear of Davy Jones and his little pet any more. By the time we saw the final face off, nobody knew which way it was going to go and the end of it left most the audience an emotional wreck

This scene and piece of music actually gives insight into how long Jones has been on the Dutchman. Davy Jones has 46 beard tentacles, plus 5 fingers, one hand tentacle and a pincer equivalent In total he has the equivalent of 53 usable fingers This equates to 5 pianists. Jones has had so much time on this ship he has had enough time to learn from scratch not just one organ piece but 5 parts of an organ quintet *and play them simultaneously* For perspective it took me two years to learn the one-person Davy Jones' organ piece perfectly from scratch without sheet music or lessons (conveniently I learned by ear and this was the first piece I ever tried to learn) Remember though that Jones came up with this rendition only from hearing the music box, and while it's unknown whether he could play the organ or even the piano before he became ship captain, it's highly unlikely. The Dutchman was supposedly given to Jones by calypso and I don't beleive any ship in history has ever had an organ on-board. Also a piece of trivia - whilst it's very hard to tell, after repeated watching I've found that _some_ of Jones' tentacles are animated playing the correct notes of the main melody

A full proper Pipe Organ? On a ship the size of the Dutchman? Not a chance in hell. *Way* too heavy. Even a small one. Not to mention the burner-boiler set needed to power the organ (since air wasn't an option at the time). A piano? Much more feasible. An upright piano? Absolutely. Im sure many ships had those irl. If you had a decent sized ship you could have a baby grand or even a full Grand piano. Perhaps a steam-sailer 10x the Dutchman's size, beam and displacement could maybe have a pipe organ on it. But it'd probably be a small one and be center of the ship. I think the most feasible example, if converted to steam, would be a Zheng-He era Chinese Treasure ship. If one were afloat today.

Considering the movies pirates have now whole fleet (ships captured and put in bottles by blackbeard), controlling the Flying Dutchman basically since i'm sure William will help his buddies and they are controlling Queen Anne's revenge. 3 legendary flagships Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman and Queen Anne's Revenge... what possibly could mess with them? i guess we find out in 5th movie.

He betrays everyone he can at some point. Hell he is literally introduced to us as a mutineer. I also don't really agree with your Blackbeard one as he was more about preserving himself than seeking power. He also was the most selfish of the villains always thinking of himself. More accurately it should be Barbossa: The Treacherous One and Blackbeard: The Selfish One.

Guys, Guys, I just realized something. The score is called "The Organ of Davy Jones" but it alludes towards the instrument and the human anatomical part. Get it, ha ha!!!!!! The organ of davy jones would be his heart but he don't have one, is anybody else realizing this or was it just so obvious that you didn't think anyone would say anything.

They did such a wonderful job with this movie. This particular scene creates an eery and dark mood. I feel as if they intended this scene to feel like the deep dark and old sea. The lighting throughout the whole movie also makes the same feeling

Yes, this is what it sounds like to have your heart broken. It feels like fire literally spilling out from your shattered heart that spreads throughout your entire body until it reaches the brain and completely infects you with the most intense rage and sadness you’ve ever felt in your life. THIS is what a person you gave your heart too is capable of doing to you 💔

I just can’t express in words just how excellent this scene is. It indirectly shows Davy Jones’ rough past and at the same time displays a grim and powerful mood to show the pain he suffers. This is so pure gold. He is one of the best and most underrated, misunderstood movie villains of all time.

This is a case of diegetic music, in which the music being played is in-universe with the story where everyone can hear it. However it does give way into being non-diegetic when cut to the crew as more instruments are added to the score.
@samot41004 жыл бұрын
Yeah imperial March does actually exist in universe it's just a happy upbeat version the empire uses in parades and stuff and who knows the rebels could of took that and made the version we all know

I absolutely love this sequence. It shows drive and determination, and above all, shows how brutal revenge really is. Revenge can consume your very being making all you see and do about that one perceived slight. Blackening everything else, till all that is left is the cold lonely reality of insanity. Dont be like Davey Jones, his soul was blackened by the loss of she who made him what he is. Love will make you do crazy impossible things. Hate will destroy and leave nothing in its wake.

There is something so captivating about this scene, I love it. How such a sinister and evil creature still have the finesse and appreciation for form and art to play the organ so passionately, even if the sounds emitting from it are pure evil. There is an admirable prowess and strength coming from it-as though the aspects others which we respect are present in our enemies as well
