We're still traveling with our friends SV Latitude Adjustment and today they're taking us to one of their favorite spots in the Bahamas. Sugary white sand, 10 shades of blue water, endless sand bars to explore at low tide...but there's one caveat: It's one beast of an entry and the anchorage is EXTREMELY tight.
Nothing like starting off our Bahamas adventures with a bang!
From Double Breasted we sail back to Grand Cay to do a little exploring and try and upload a video. Turns out, even though this is the largest town within a few days sail and the WiFi is crazy slow. No worries, it gives us a chance to explore the island and hang with the locals at the bar.

You may notice a few growing pains in this video...not just the internet woes but new camera woes as well. We're still figuring out our new A7 camera so there's spots where we've missed focus, the audio is blown out by wind noise and colors are a little off. If our life was scripted and we didn't shoot in the moment we could fix a lot of these issues in advance, but that's just not the case and there's no going back. Oh well, it doesn't bother me (I mean of course I'd prefer it to be perfect), I still think it's alright...but do know we are ironing out the issues. As always if you want more details click over to the post on our website. See ya on the water.

Your videos are totally CLASS !! But you may need to drop to 720p and shorten to like 7 minutes so your not loosing out on play for work. We won't hardly notice, its the story that important, not the quality or quantity of video ! Remember that !

Gone with the Wynns I don't think the viewers would mind if you make the videos and just upload them all in bulk at once from time to time when you come across the good internet places.... I know it wouldn't bother me anyway. Deadly video as usual though 👍

Going NoWhereFast -- In a real friendly like way... I disagree and agree, kinda... not really, just kidding, kinda. 1080, h.264 {quality setting in Adobe Encoder} - anywhere up to 30 mins. is fine by me. ( I never use 720 and don't those that do - I pipe it to my 48 inch in 1080 p sooo beautiful, especially in the Carib. - just kidding, not really. ---- "Geez Louise".

I also have the A7ii and it's a tricky beast. Much harder to use than a GoPro but beautiful when you have the time to dial in exactly the right settings. I've tried a few different mics, and have found that the Rode VideoMic Pro with dead cat is the way to go for outdoor stuff in windy conditions - there is a boost that you don't get with the Sony mic, and the Rode dead cat seems to block more wind than the Sony version. It does however require battery power, and is bigger. For out and about/run and gun filming, the GoPro Hero5 is awesome. They added stabilization with this model, and if you shoot in the flat profile (protune) the quality is awesome (I think you said before that you grade your footage - certainly looks like it). Anyway, even though I'm pretty dialed in to the camera stuff, I always love your videos and didn't notice any drop in quality. We're always more critical of our own work. Just keep on doin' what you're doing.

I wouldn't worry about it being perfect right away. I'm sure as both you two work in the film industry its super annoying. i'm sure Nikki can see a hair out of place or a drop of sweat from a long ways away. I know that the directors can see it and will call in H/MU all the time. I'm sure Jason can see the lighting, coloring or a minor out of focus shot that 99% of the people in the world never will. When are you guys going to upgrade to a couple c300 or C500 or even a RED package with primes? LOL! But then you'd never get videos up on time. There is a sailing channel out there with 3 professional filmmakers that put out rare but great videos. Seems Jon Olsson has picked up a couple 100,000 subs since Casey quit vlogging daily. They're doing it with a RED but he does have a professional shooting/editing but he's fallen in love with the RED and wants to shot more than be filmed!

If you have read any of my comments, you know I have been nothing but supportive. I admire your ambition and enjoyment of adventure. I too have been a bit of an adrenaline junkie all my life, racing motocross for several years, serious whitewater kayaking for 25 years, down hill skiing, etc, etc. Yet, the hair stands up on the back of my neck watching you do things like running at a pretty good clip through the shallows at the bahamas, on the outside deck without a life jacket. You realize that if you had just bumped that sand bar you mentioned, Nikki would almost certainly have been overboard. There are soooo many "little things" that can throw a person overboard on a sailboat. A slippery spot on the deck, a stray gust of wind that causes the boom to swing unexpectedly and hits you in the head, a loose rope going tight and hitting you, the wind blowing something in your eye, just as the boat shifts, stepping on a rope that wasn't secured adequately, getting an unexpected jerk by a fish on the line, etc, etc. Nobody is making these comments to make you look ignorant or put you down, or act like a know it all. Those cautions are people trying to help you learn along the way, before learning the hard way where there may be no second chance. Testing your limits and skills by taking "Educated" risks is a thrill and produces rapid personal growth. Hopefully you will accept all such comments as well meaning education from those who have been there before you. Once again, awesome videos, awesome life style examples, awesome attitudes.

We are full time RV'rs following a similar path. Maybe we should start to document our journey with video blogs. My wife and I hope to sail in the future exploring the islands of the world. Or as my friend calls it "the sugar", as in "Passe me the sugar. Grazie." . It does a fine, fine job of sweetening coffee, without the hazards of open flame. (It is a little pricey there. The Flor de Caña is a good price, though. And also goes well in coffee.)

Dang it, Wynns! You are giving me the sailing bug again. We sold our stuff and moved aboard a Fountaine Pajot cat back in 2011 and, after cruising down the east coast and tooling around the Bahamas, we had to take a break to take care of some family issues back in our hometown of Portland, Oregon. We still live aboard but the cold weather of the northwest is just not as joy inspiring as the crystal clear waters of The Bahamas. We hope to head back out in a few years after we upgrade some of the systems on the boat. Anyway, you are both really cool and I wish we could have crossed paths when we were down there. Don't let the "experts" get you down. (I suspect you don't!) Also, we went with a composting toilet (made it ourselves) and have never regretted it. Never have to pump out and no clogged pipes or backed up systems to deal with. Sweet!
