As a revert myself I am happy that you are following the right Islam and not falling into cultural traps. One more favor you can do to yourself is completely avoiding any advice coming from these Indian and Pakistanis since they will reject even the most authentic sunnahs of prayer and other acts and will blindly follow the practices of their ancestors and assume it to be Islam. Most of these people are willfully ignorant and unfortunately don't want to change due to their inflated egos. Really happy to see you know Islam better than most of these generational muslims, hopefully some of them will be guided by listening to you.

The differences in opinions arise from which approach is considered more in line with the Sunnah. It is essential to follow the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) according to one's school of thought. For instance, I personally do not perform Rafa Yadain, as it is believed that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) ceased this practice before his passing. However, those who do perform Rafa Yadain are also considered Muslims. In my view, anyone who sincerely believes in the oneness of Allah and acknowledges that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah alone, and that Muhammad (SAW) is His final Messenger, can be considered a Muslim. It is crucial to focus on the core beliefs and principles of Islam rather than minor differences in practices. When it comes to the rituals of Salah (prayer), the vast majority (perhaps 99%) of the elements are the same across all schools and sects of Islam. While there might be minor variations, such as standing with hands folded or straight, these differences do not invalidate the prayer. If someone believes that their actions in Salah align with the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW), whether it involves folding their hands or keeping them straight, there is no harm in either approach. However, if someone recognizes that a certain act they perform in Salah is an innovation not observed by the Prophet (SAW), it is advisable to avoid it. In conclusion, let us focus on the unity of our faith, adhere to the core teachings of Islam, and respect the diverse practices within the Muslim community.
