The man that was singing with her, with white hair, is Gilberto Gil, from Bahia, one the greatest popular Brazilian music composers. He also is an accomplished guitarist. Google him.

Brazilian Gloria Estevan? Shake that thang! You never see accordions anymore! I hope the lyrics are as fun as the music. This one gets the tukkus wiggling! Love it! I had a pal in college that played the accordion. I looked it up; Baiao is a Brazilian music style featuring accordion, etc like the song.

The "lh", like in her name Ramalho, in Portuguese sounds like the "ll" in Spanish. So, it is not "Ramalo" nor "Ramal-ho". Also, she was not telling the audience to stand up. She was singing the name of this rhythm: Baião. That is why she was repeating that word so much.

It's a pout-pourri, so mind this experience is something like to take a bit from some half world's away-dishes for the very first time: sure it probably won't seem familiar at all, it may seem off or too spicy... and you're overwhelmed by sensations and new information. Try other samples, then revisit those here later easier and with more context. Even for a brazilian as myself these live versions are very speeded up, the second song specially. They're all normally played way more candidly.

O gênero em questão chamamos por aqui de FORRÓ; é se trata de um universo musical com todas as galáxias e constelações que todo o universo contém. Para vocês terem uma ideia BAIÃO é um subgênero do FORRÓ, como o XOTE e o COCO…. Se mergulhar nessa cultura nordestina não para mais não.

I don't know if they could perform together again. Gilberto Gil is a former Minister of Culture in Lula government (center-left). Elba Ramalho got crazy in the last years. She became antivax and supported the ex-president B0ls0n4ro, who is fascist and alt-right politician. It's a pitty because both Gil and Elba are really great artists.
