I would have thought by now that people would know the difference when it comes to Shaw and Baker. They are two totally different styles of bands. People can breakdown and critique both bands to suit their own opinions. But truth is, is that they are different in every way. Shaw is a "High Stepping" show style marching band, while Baker is not a high stepping style of band but still a show style and drilling type of band. Shaw highschool performed , gave the people a show, followed the criteria.. while sounding great. Both bands were awesome. Shaw put you on your feet and baker put you to sleep. But Shoutout to both programs.

entertaining the crowd on all levels of their show. You have to move further east going to the north and the south of La. to find those real high stepping bands. Like Ballou out of Washington,DC and all of their rivals. And N.C high out of North Carolina and pretty much that whole state and all those high stepping bands out of Florida and any other place that I didn't mention. Trust me they're out there! I've done some traveling these past summer months and have seen some jaw dropping bands.

before all the haters talk there was certain criteria that was supposed to be followed 1.intro/power song 2:00 2. ballad 2:30 3. girls dance song 1:30 4. band dance/mix 2:30 don't hate because this band followed the rules and handle business. they did what was required and the crowd loved it! if you didn't hear musicality from this group on their ballad please get your ears checked. listen to the crowd sing along. what song did they (shaw) play that anyone else played? I rest my case.

And no, I am not from Shaw either. I am from right here in Louisiana. Lafayette to be exact. Born and raised and I love my La. bands too! And I will never hate on any of them but will be honest about all of them.

I would like to learn what a great high school program supposed to look and sound like. with little or no flaws. I need to be educated if you can help me out thanks.

I don't know which band is which, but the band to the left with the black and white put on a very entertaining dance routine. konsidering I find most dance routines from high stepping bands or traditionally black marching bands boring or incapable of holding my attention. I love the power of both bands and hope that these students haven't already do so, go off to kollege and join an HBCU marching band. Both units are very talented.

Both bands were clean though, I love that intro to "Who do I turn to" Shaw all-girl cymbal line is crucial...The band as a whole looked like the prepared for this battle and for the criteria there...shaw followed it to the T. Much Respect to that school,The band as whole band shows the prime example of just because you have more than 100 players...your gonna automatically sound great...quality is always better than quantity.

Is because it would have been nice to see another round of Shaw, Baker, and Scotlandville going at it one more time this year. As for an un-uploaded video it must not exist. Shaw gave Baker "The Business!!!" No comparison all around in my opinion. Articulation, Dynamics, Intonation (For the most part) Dance Routine, Song Selection, Intensity, they simply had the Total Package at this particular match up! BIG UPS SHAW Awesome!!!

Shaw was more exciting. Baker sounded hella good. To a musician baker won. But to the crowd shaw won because they werent boring. I mean the purpose of the performance was to entertain the crown and shaw did that.

Shaw lit the fire as usual. Baker good job. Baker i especially enjoyed that single band member that stepped out & did that mini show. That was funny & entertaining. Baker as far as i see it, you guys are the true representitives of B.R. And more importantly their is a truly professional & mutual respect between the BD's as well. Shaw there is nothing more that i can say but.......... "Greatness" !!!

When they were in New Orleans people was saying they wasn't loud enough! If they were making noise and not music a whole lot of people sang to that noise making song and there intro received a lot of oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh! meaning apparently they put it down. As to Baker they have a hell of a good program you can't and shouldn't say anything about them neither. applaud these programs and stop all this hating! these kids work hard to perform for you all and all they get is a bunch of bs!

Shaw was nice. Just over blowed. But they entertained the crowd. Put on a show. Baker was great. The sound was full powerful clean and pleasing to my ears at all time. They had dynamics. It seems like bands forget abt dynamics and articulation at times. Overall both bands had there flaws. And in my opinion it's a tie because if u break it down the flaws and strongpoints were equal to me. They both did a great awesome job. Congrats to the young men and women in both bands. Loved listening to it.

So as much as a like Shaw yall should take a break from coming to La. Because it's kind of unfair what yall do to our bands when yall come here. Knowing what I know now and seeing all those other bands that do it like yall do it and then some. It's on another level of competition and Shaw should battle their style of bands and those styles only. Great job Baker, nothing can be taken away from you guys.

After looking at all this video both bands are decent. Shaw's first song was horrid they brought to much heat and Baker just didn't bring enough heat. But over all Baker was a bit cleaner in there arrangements but didn't excite me, Shaw on the other hand was full of excitement they were in motion which make a person on the sidelines feel as if there was a party on the field but they over blew on some of there notes. So I give Shaw the win in my opinion for giving the people what they want ;)

Excuse me! Shaw spend time winning competitions and making people like you comment on how good they are! thanks. Apparently they follow the criteria for any and every competition! that's what make them successful. and the crowd love what they do the only people seem to don't like what they do are people who are one sided! but one question, did you hear the crowd erupt when only one of baker's band member danced(the crowd went crazy) can you imagine if the whole band was able to do that?

Baker won, this isn't even up for debate, they had a more full and polished sound and had better arrangements.
