Tories gave us section 24, reduced capital gains allowances, 3% extra stamp duty and highest tax rises in 70 years. We've seen nothing yet, wait for the labour budget, landlords will be filling their pants not their pockets.

any doubters, SKS is on record saying he will be going for landlords, any incorporated portfolios will be looking at higher tax rates on residential property income.

In all honesty, the PRS became hostile only after the tories intervened. So lets see what labour does when they do come to power.

They are making capital accumulation so difficult in the UK, investors from abroad will eventually own everything. Although they are subject to the same taxes on UK property (plus some extra stamp duty), the earnings have often been accumulated with much lower taxes.

My concern is rent controls of some form, in the not so long term disastrous for everyone but in the short term there are more renters than landlords so potentially popular.

Rent controls would be a disaster. And I do think they know that. I think what we will get is rent capping.

It is currently 2 months. Renters reform bill wants 6 months. Labour will want longer

Wales is already 6 months. It is perfectly reasonable if it is 6 months: that would give certainty to landlords and to tenants.

@@tomjones8715 Facts. After Boris Johnson, Kwesi Kwarteng and Liz Truss, there is no hope for them. Change is coming. You will get pros and cons on both sides but some changes are beneficial whilst some may prove to be dire.

@@natashapeprah8302 the last Labour government sent me to war in Iraq where I lost two friends and I still have issues dealing with what I saw. They sent us for oil. So I’m fairness I’d prefer the Tory’s.
