Baking an Apple Pie | Winnerwell Woodburner

Back in the arctic tent to do some cooking on my lovely winnerwell woodburner using the matching oven to bake an apple pie. Cooking outside has always bought me a lot of joy and I find it great mixing it up with this great piece of kit, as well as keeping me warm throughout the winter months.
I speak briefly about what cooking means to me and the history behind it :)
This has to be my favorite woodburner that I've used and it really means a lot to me as its kept me warm on so many occasions when its been cold, dried a lot of my damp clothing and equipment out and been brilliant for making brews and cooking on when the elements are not with you.

Just discovered your channel a week ago, and I have to say, you're wise beyond your years. I don't think I've ever seen a person your age with such a reflective, contemplative attitude toward nature and who appreciates everything the outdoors provides us. Excellent videos, Becky :)

Does your stove take standard 16” cuts of firewood, and wood this stove heat a large tent like the onetigris hammock hot tent.

@@prestonwilliams6138 I don't use big pieces of wood in mine. Just small pieces. I use it outside, under a 4x4 awning, so no idea how it woukd perform in a tent. Sorry.

You have so many skills and can survive in so many environments and your mother must have taught you so much about cooking, and sewing skills while your father taught you about how to survive in the forest and use the bow and other survival skills you would need in the wild. Becky, you are a true survivalist now and able to not only survive on your own, but able to teach others as well in the art of living in the forest. I hope that pie came out like you planned and you all was able to enjoy it and the rest of your meal.

My Winnerwell is coming tomorrow, I'm so excited to go and sleep out in the woods when it's freezing cold! Really, I can't wait. I'm still taking my Arctic bag with me in case it all goes pear-shaped.

Lovely! I love to cook stews on my Winnerwell. I made the best beef stew and dumplings and bread in the oven last year. Away again in two weeks and going to have a go at blueberry muffins

Great video! I have same. Having some trouble with their rain guard though, any tips? Also I note you use the folding oven directly on the top without opening the plate. Which I like. The plate has given me nothing but trouble. So I'm eager to try it your way when I finally buy the folding. (I currently have the pipe oven and love that.)

Great news! I found one that fits perfectly in Amazon UK. It's called the Canvas Webbing Messenger Bag With Pockets. They have 3 colours and it cost a whopping £10+ change. I bought a blue one, because nearly every other bag I own is either, green, brown or cammo. Keep making great videos. Greetings from Scotland.

Really good video Becky.😎😎 The WINDY weather made for a perfect backdrop. And who cares what one's outdoor meals look like? The taste is what matters to me. 👍👍Would brushing the pastry top with butter help brown it? I would think 230C should make it brown. Well done Becky!!!👍👍💖💋

i really like to put my skillet right on some coals and sizzle me some bacon. i take about 4 pre-cooked potatoes with me and warm them up with the bacon. i even put an avocado on the coals for a few minutes and the peel just falls right off. CHEERS all you fellow outdoor chefs!

Ok, so not fair. Middle of the night here in Alaska and I just got done watching this. Besides the fact that I think I just gained five pounds from watching a video, now I am hungry. Yum!! Yeppers outdoor cooking takes practice and some trial and error, you do pretty darn awesome.
