Great Idea moving the L bracket to that possition, I already own a Threelegged thing L bracket so checked the box for the handy tool and YEY there it was, so Im a happy bunny.

Nice tip. I always use L-brackets on my cameras (usually RRS), but they are generally molded to the bottom of the camera for additional stability. I think I'll pick up a generic L-bracket that has a flat bottom rubberized mount just for this use. Tx!

I have one like the Move Shoot Move. The Mini-Tracker LX4. I use the Z bracket also and balancing weight can be an issue except the Mini-Track has a spring for a counterweight. It still has the same problem with the center of gravity. Thanks for the tips.

Kamil, that is good idea. If you already took photos and had your lens focus correctly and setting on the camera already set, then it's a good idea.

If you have a flip out LCD screen then the L-bracket won’t obstruct your view of the screen!

This is a neat idea! But with the screen completely covered up, do you find it limits your ability when it comes to focus, framing, reviewing exposures, accessing buttons, etc.?

Kamil, I have really enjoyed watching your videos as I have begun to get more into astrophotography. You have a great ability to convey complex ideas into simple to understand language - for me anyway. I now have MSM and want to start trying some tracked imaging. Question, live in Vancouver and even getting away form the city there is a fair bit of light pollution. I have been reading that one way to help deal with LP is to try using lower ISOs as well as stopping down the lens (I have a Sony A7iii and Sony G 20mm f1.8 and the idea of getting less light is counterintuitive). I know there are a variety of filters, but not ready to go down that road yet. All that said what are your thoughts and suggestions to deal with LP?

Hi, I read in several reviews that if you want to use a focal length above 50mm, don't buy it. I have a 75mm 1.2 lens for astrophotography. And my question is, won't it really handle a 75mm lens for Orion or the Milky Way? :) Thank you

Nice idea but wouldn't work for me with my D810. Screen doesn't fold out. I'd probably have to do my focusing, etc. before moving the L-Bracket. I have a Skywatcher Adventurer Pro and ordered the MSM last week.

I'm not understanding why you need a ball head mount at all if you have a z-mount platform you can move it horizontally and vertically once you've got your tracker polar aligned.

I have actually purchased two of these MoveShootMove (one for myself and one for my mother) devices and wasn't impressed. I think that if you are just doing landscape or Milky Way photography with a 50mm or shorter lens, and a light weight lens at that, you will probably be ok. However, I was trying to take astrophotography images with 50/85/135mm Samyang lenses and the mount just couldn't handle the weight. As you mentioned, the screw comes loose, the little knobs you used to adjust the V and Z brackets are tiny and actually hurt your fingers to use. Polar alignment is sketchy at best as the polar finder scope does not mount snugly to the MSM. I haven't been able to get any decent images out of my Canon 60d using this mount. I have since purchased a proper star tracker and have been much happier.

@kamilkp 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah for focal lengths longer than 50mm i’d definitely recommend a Star Adventurer. But for wide stuff you can’t beat the portability of the MSM

Great video! And a noob question: what's the point of the v/z plate between the MSM and the ball head?
@kamilkp
@kamilkp 2 жыл бұрын
The V acts as a wedge to do polar alignment. Without it you’d need another ballhead there. The Z is just for convenience especially for panoramas
