Bald Chimp Alice And Her Baby

This is Alice, she is a West African chimpanzee. Just like Twycross Chimp Jambo, she has lost her hair on her head and shoulders, but I'm not sure if hers is alopecia as well.
In the first clip you can see Alice ( born 6th Nov 1991) on the door, she is pregnant at that stage. This is the older video. The next clips are of her when she had her sweet baby Annie. Annie was born on the 13th of July 2019. She had her baby in front of some zoo visitors. She is a very proud and beautiful mum, holding her baby tight at all times.

Alice has such a sweet and beautiful face. Her gentle expressions are so cute. Such soft and gentle facial expressions she has. Alice seems to be smiling,grinning most of this clip. How lovely she is! She is a affectionate Mommy and her Baby is adorable! When we see Chimps without fur, I find it fascinating because you can see their muscles. Hair covers so much and w/o hair shows how powerful and strong they are.Also, Alice is Beautiful with or without hair. Without hair lets us see her beautiful face better is all. ;-) Thank you Dear SV!

There are actually humans that look like them they're called mongoloids in the past they weren't allowed to live very long if any,. Much like monkeys in captivity

Wow. She's powerfully built just like Jambo. She appeared to be as large or larger than the males in that troupe. (Unless those are all females.) I can recall seeing something tecently where there were female lions that grew manes & were almost as large as males. & suprisingly had male behaviours encoded in them...interesting.

I can understand better now the difference in strength between chimps and humans after seeing several hairless individuals. Their musculature is incredible!

I wondered how that little one held on to mom, with no hair on her body and all.... Then I see this, and wow. Hair pulling is one thing, but 4 sets of hands grabbing your flesh is a new ball game to sure, but I'm going to bet she don't even notice. She is a Beautiful Creature. Rolling with the punches.

I wondered that too cause if some fight pop off and moma goes off screamin and punching that baby wont have anything to hold on too. An if a male geta a hold of it he could easily swing that baby over the walls to freedom.

In the medical and veterinarian world, alopecia simply means 'hair loss' and is often applied when the cause of the hair loss is unknown. Could be caused by stress, could be caused by a skin condition, vitamin or mineral deficiency, could be caused by mange, could be caused by an immune system dysfunction, could be caused by any number of things. It's a catch-all word that simply means 'going bald'.

It's quite common in female chimps. This is what wiki says: When a female is in heat, the skin around her genitals becomes pink and swollen - a clear sexual signal to males. Both male and female chimps elicit sex, though in a more brazen way than most people. If a female's interested in a male, she'll put her swollen bottom right up in his face

The baby tries all time to cling into her fur, but there is none. Doesn't Mum have a prolapse? It looks *very* different to the normal swelling from estrus. Poor animal!

When female chimps are able to conceive again, their genitals swell around the butt. Gorillas don't do this, and neither do humans, but bonobos do.

@@johnh.mcsaxx3637 This is not a case of swollen genitals. If the baby was born in the last two days it could be the placenta hasn't completely cleared yet. My best guess however is a case of 'Uterine Prolapse'. Sometimes these primate mothers push so hard they blow out their muscles down there and their uterus essentially falls out.
