Nah, its different. You have to know the price of the stuff. If you go by a bus in Nepal try to figure out how much the local people give out. If they pay 20 Rupees just give them 20 Rupies and dont give any more attention to the guy. He WILL ask for more but he will give up shortly. As a western guy you always struggle with small bills. If you go to a money exchange, always get the smallest bills you can get. If you order food somewhere and you dont know how much it ist give out about 1 $ and pretend you wait for the change. If he wants more he will ask for it, if its cheaper he thinks that you know the price and maybe will give out some change. Thats the reason why he gave him 10 Rupees and not 100 ;)

First time in India I stayed here and the name had made me laugh when I booked the hotel. At 5am, in the taxi from the airport, I couldn't remember the exact place and just kept saying ganja to the driver. He asked me if I wanted to smoke ganja, pulled over and rolled one up in a beedy (tobacco leaf cigarette) . Consequently, I tumbled out half an hour later in Paharganj, completely stoned. As I paid and also bought a bag of grass, some boys started a game of cricket in the street while the city was just waking up. I stood there and thought, 'Man, this place is cool'. Then I went to bed.

I'm sure anyone gets annoyed at their own country most, because those are the problems you can see most clearly. I think the statistical amount of nice people vs assholes is probably similar around the world, just varies which groups of people run the individual countries. I'm from austria. If you come here on holiday you will feel like you visited some friendly mountain hobbits who make delicious food and are friendly and happy all the time. If you live here it feels like everyone is a grumpy, depressed racist.
