and there we have it. The emperor is not a star child, nor an old one, neither a C'tan. He is a Necron. He seeks the abolishment of religion because it was through religion and gods that his people were enslaved. He seeks the death of all xenos, because they are the enemies created to fight him and his people. And he plots the death of the chaos gods, because they are to alike the C'tan.

I've never considered building Necrons or had too greatly an interest in their extended lore. With your narrative style, you've made my realize just how much reverence and awe should be placed on Szarekh. He quite possibly is the oldest living sentient being in the galaxy, if not the universe. Szarekh was from a time before all...the Chaos Gods, the Eldar, humanity...all that lives in the current era. The wisdom and experience, the vast knowledge...all that dwells within Szarekh...makes him the only non-psychic being that is a match for the Chaos Gods, the nascent Eldar Gods, the two deities of the Orks, the shattered Ctan, and dare I say...even the God Emperor of Mankind. Thank you for instilling in me a new found interest in Szarekh through your masterful and gripping recitation of the lore. You truly deserve the title of the Master of Lore.

With the announcement of the Silent King's return, re-listening this can't be more appropriate. So returns the last of the Necrontyr, and the first among the Necrons... So returns _the Godkiller, the avenger, and the immortal king who breaks all chains..._ So returns *_Szarekh, the bane of the gods_* and his court to a sundered galaxy, to impose his rule once more, and mend the remaining pieces of a broken universe that can be saved.

Maybe he and the Emperor can trade notes about how lame the Tau are.
@nemesorofthokt27554 жыл бұрын
The sad thing about the revolt is that all three of the Triarch made it to the end, only to lose the other two. The casualties were truly horrific, with trillions of losses amongst the immortal corps alone, one can only imagine what the warrior losses must have looked like. On the Krork though, its been hinted that they got backstabbed into their current state by the eldar, who likely used Isha's Lament (contagious psychic scourge) for the initial blow. It would explain why they talk about fighting them in places like war in the beast. On the C'tan, two things: The dragon has been confirmed to be sharded, and we've seen shards of him in action (naturally he was terrifying and managed to destroy several necron worlds before being taken back down and imprisoned). The outsider has not been mentioned since 3e, so while he could be free, its also possible he isn't given the codexes all say each was sharded. Its also possible the second thing is true, he might be dead. They have slain some of the C'tan, like the Flayer. It would explain why he was never mentioned again. On Imotekh, he has as of the new WD made comment about Szarekh's time being over. Take that as you will. The Tau theory I have to agree is more likely. Its worth noting that the book that said it was the eldar is now a heretic tome (ie: made explicitly non-cannon by GW). I really love the second half of this video though (not that the first isn't also great) its necron hype the video and makes my grin wide as can be. The Pylons are the most OP thing about them. Oh, whats that, you have FTL? Not anymore, have fun experiencing what its like fighting a galactic power without it! Its more or less an I win button, well, one of many. Using say the orrerry to detonate sol is another fun one. Necrons are just so wonderfully OP. I'd really love to see some necrons v Krork at some point. The two most powerful martial races yet to live. Here's to hoping Ghaz can really get his WAAAGH going.
@baldermort4 жыл бұрын
Yep. I thought I reflected the horror of that war. Entire sectors of the galaxy burned in the revolt. I cover that in my Secret History of the Orks/Krork. With some more of my own ideas. But I clearly state they are my own opinions form my reading of the lore. OH Yes. I have been hoping for Gaz to ascend to Krork and then make the Orks a fighting force to terrify for a long time. But its intensely unlikely GW will do it. Thanks for listening, brother. :)

Just imagine if the Silent King had a shard of the Void Dragon which I also believe to be a "She"/Matriarch of the C'tans given that dragons historically give birth to creatures of MONSTROUS power, just look at the Sumerian story of Creation as evidence of this...

Szarekh is one of the most interesting head figures in Warhammer 40k. Morally he is a very complex character. Whereas other heads of factions could be qualified as good people in terrible situations, such as Guilliman or Farsight, while others are definitely just evil people doing evil for evil's sake, such as Vect or Abaddon. Szarekh is in a weird spot that leaves much of his morality up for interpretation depending on how you see his actions. Szarekh's actions have both been tremendously evil, such as what he did to his own people turning them into Necrons (though in fairness, he didn't know all the details of the deal), but also tremendously good, such as killing the C'tan and freeing his people from his own grip (like a certain someone also said he would do once humanity had evolved enough). Not only did he forsake power, but also out of guilt he left the galaxy. This does show some character development, more than most 40k characters get. Then we don't know what he had been doing for 60 million years, it should be interesting to know what other galaxies think about the Silent King. All we do know is that Szarekh came back, not just to save his people from the Tyranids, but to save most of the sentient life in the galaxy. And here is where motivation becomes extremely important to know where Szarekh lies within the moral spectrum. You see the official reason why the Necrons are trying to save other sentient species from the Nids and the Great Beast is supposedly to later see if it is possible to make some reverse biotransference, which should mean Szarekh's desire to save other races is fueled out of selfish motives. But the Indomitus book offers a different possibility for the motivation within the Silent King's attempt to save other sentient species. The plasmancer says that Szarekh ordered his Nemesors to try to preserve human life if possible in order to "use them as labor" in case biotransference is not possible. Now think about it, using humans as labor is a terrible idea if you are a Necron. Necrons have drones in droves to do manual labor, so autonomous humans who need amenities and extensively processed biomatter are useless as a workforce to them. Yet Szarekh insists on telling the Necrons to preserve the life of these meatbags for two ultimately futile endeavors. What if he is actually just trying to convince overlords to not kill sentient species by using these two motives as excuses to justify such an order? Szarekh has clearly done horrible things, but it is entirely possible that he is trying to redeem himself for his actions, both towards his people and towards the galaxy. Or he is a lighter shade of grey, not-so-Grimdark imperialist who just wants to rule over as many diverse subjects as possible without being a murderous jerk. Clearly the morality of Szarekh requires a lot more study within the black library, after all we don't see many great redemption arcs in Warhammer 40k, and Szarekh can provide us with one.
@ramp144 жыл бұрын
Hail to the King, Baby! I positively loved this! When Szarehk is ready, he WILL save the galaxy for Chaos and the Devourer. And if the younger races are properly respectful, his Majesty will grant them the Honor and Glory of fighting at his side.

A juicy theory that gets the motor running. :) Alas, I do not think that the Emperor would make a pariah. The emperor's goal was one in the same with Szarekh. Humanity divorced from the warp. The psyker gene removed from the species. The webway was one project. Imagine if he learned of the necron black stone capabilities. It would be one thing to remove the gene, but to slam the sledge hammer down on reality and crush the gods. He would do it. He would sacrifice himself and his power to do it to. But better yet, the webway still could exist. Shuffle himself and the 20 legions/primarchs into it and bring permanent death to the demons as there is no more emotional food. Imagine a different time line, one where hope wins. Problem is, that 'psyker gene' or equivalent would have to be....uhm...eradicated from all sapient and sentient races in the Galaxy (at least) - otherwise, in time, another Eldar would appear, dive into orgies and...another species (Tau?) would make advance into Artificial Intelligence to get attention of Warp Powers. Somebody would discoverer recent, uncorrupted and complete STC.

Your ability to tell these stories with so much impact and emotion could turn tides. I am a Chaos player but I was latched to the story of the Necrons. During your speech, my eyes watered, my mouth was open and I prayed to the Dark Gods because your very voice carried truth to your words. I absolutely love your videos.

I lost track on how many videos I have binged since I discovered this channel only couple days ago, but I just want to say: this channel is, without a doubt, the best one out there. I have watched most of the major lore channels (you know them). They do a decent job narrating, sure, but most of them either just directly read off the wiki, or put very little to no effort into making the screens actually fit the narrative. This channel on the other hand is truly a cut above the rest. The script, the pacing, the imagery, the music and last but def not least the narration. Oh the narration. Truly amazing and awe inspiring stuff. My favorite by far is the Rogal Dorn trilogy (I think I am not alone on that one). Please accept my deepest appreciation for all your efforts in painting this amazing universe. I just became a patron and will do my best to support you as long as possible!

I wonder what Szarekh saw in the tyranids that frightened him so much. I get wanting to comeback but it feels like it should be more annoyance than anything else. Considering he and his people can summon literal gods to fight fir them. Gods that can summon black holes in the middle of fleets no less. Must have been something deeply frightening to scare someone with that type of power.

Im going to be honest here. Too honest probably... Maybe it's been too long since my last dose of painkillers, which dampen my emotions, but I'm finding myself tearing up at parts. Is it just me, or was it that awesome a video?
@baldermort4 жыл бұрын
CNN Blackmail Support it’s not you at all brother. It isn’t. I write punchy and very emotionally driven pieces so my brothers and sisters can have a safe ‘release’. Safe. We can all get carried away for a little bit, but then it’s over and it’s only fiction. :). So it’s harmless I hope. But if it helps, I actually cried recording Landraiders. Nearly could not finish My Dorn set. It’s on purpose and I hope it’s ok. Do forgive me if it’s not.

@@baldermort Alas, the 40k universe is no longer my play thing. Like a chaos god bored with its fallen champion, I have moved on, discarding them. GW reprinting and rewriting rules three times over the span of 5 years. Them shutting down fan content films (use to). It all caused me to close my bank account blessings to them. I love the fluff, the intensity of it all, the horror, the hope in the heresy... But the hate of the company antics closed them off forever. An anathema be upon them. So now my blessings find their way to other game content and it appears some youtube creators. You are being considered new one. I have already been enriched by your voice, found music to cross my ears, and look forward to more time spent...
@baldermort4 жыл бұрын
shopsmart57 I totally get that. Some days I feel the same. :). The story is compelling enough, as you say. :) :).
@luxordeathbed4 жыл бұрын
@@baldermort Yes it is. The story of the return of the primarch has me very intrigued. But I am seeing another repeat of the old GW. Stringing people allong. There should be more primarchs returned by now. More story content, etc. Alas it has been what, 2-3 years since the primaris release? I have considered getting their novels again, but found they made them large instead of the smaller more convienent to hold ones I remember. That is another reason I now remember why I stopped. The horus heresy books went big. I do see they went small again with them, but always a delay to those sizes.
@baldermort4 жыл бұрын
shopsmart57 fair. It’s a difficult position. If they move things along too much they endanger the ‘magic formula’ if their setting. Because it is a setting, not a continuous narrative. But I think they may release a new Primarch each ‘edition’ over the next decade. Urg. I don’t fancy buying all the codices again, that’s for certain. But it’s what it is. :(.

Just added 40k to my miniature painting and crafting hobby. Just happened to like Necrons as they are the "undead" cognate, and began to make an army. So, as I created my army I wanted to know about them, and this was bloody inspired! Fantastically so much more so given the hype-bait news of GW for the "Return." They ought to buy the rights to this from you and slap it up on their announcement. Much appreciate your work, you remind me of Horrorbabble another youtube story teller I adore. Cheers and thanks!
