I sometimes toast a couple slices of bread and make a breakfast sandwich with ham and cheese slices and some horseradish and mayo sauce. Very easy to make and I decide how much cheese and ham to use. Good protein and not too many carbs. Probably cheaper too.

I love ham & cheese toasted sandwiches. I make my own at home, with a LOT more ham, and real cheddar cheese. I find that it goes perfectly with a good pickled onion. The sourness of the pickled onion perfectly complements the richness of the cheese.

A Crimpit will give you almost the exact same thing using Warburton's Thins only with much more filling, a wider choice of fillings and better tasting. One word of warning though it doesn't "quite" live up to the hype as I've had one burst in the toaster and it was so hard to clean I ended up having to buy another toaster. Instead into the air fryer they go with a spray of oil on each side and they turn out pretty good to be fair. I recently got the version designed for wraps and my god they are excellent in the air fryer, would definitely recommend that version.

I usually go to the shop and get it off the shelf, as it were - although, since Covid, some days, they aren’t doing it - often have to phone in advance, as, although it’s not all that far, it’s a long way to go to find out that they’re not doing deliveries that day - especially if the weather won’t play ball!

As a treat lately I bought a big block of cheese and now have been eating cheese on toast for lunch. It has been great. In the old days I had those sandwich grills that you could pack with cheese and spam and cook them. Great when I was on nights. But why would you want to buy a pre packed stodgy looking sandwich to toast. Seems redundant to me even as the laziest person alive. Saves neither time nor money. Very weird.

Hi Gareth. We don't have these in Australia, but we can get the baking paper toastie bags to make our own ham n cheese toasties which I think would be better than what you have there. Speaking of toasters, my Kenwood 1 slice option toaster of 8 years service is dying. #2 side hardly toasts at all now so I've decommissioned it to go to the Salvos as a donation and have bought a Russell Hobbs to replace it with. Unfortunately it's like stepping out of a Roller into a Opal cadet. Quicker toasting time but without the single slice only option. I did get it at members price so I saved a few bucks. What did Mrs Morgan think of the toastie? Y/N... Cheers Gareth 👍😀
