I noticed that my hair was falling out and that I had started going bald at around age 25. It has been about 2 and a half years since then so I wanted to see how much my hair loss had progressed.
I also wanted to review some new clippers for a buzz cut/head shave so I set out to let my balding hair grow instead of my usual frequent head shaves.

Did it, brother. Buzzed my head and not looking back. Feels so good to feel the wind blow and not worry about how my hair looks 🤣 I did the same thing too. I let it grow for a few days after and it was definitely darker around the sides. Unless your name is Jason Statham, it doesn’t look so cool. I was like, “nope!”, and buzzed it back off. Thanks to the bald support community I never knew existed, I took the plunge and never felt better. Hopefully someone reads this and it helps them even a little bit to make that decision and rock it! ✊🏼👨🏼‍🦲

This was one of your best videos to date. I totally get how you feel, I also feel really uncomfortable once it grows out. It makes me feel old, like my youth has been robbed from me. I don't feel that way at all when I am shaved. What I noticed though is that if you let it grow a bit and then buzz it down, the thinner hair kind of blends in better with the rest. Like in a sense that the thinning follicles take longer to grow out after a wet shave and if you'd switch to a 0 buzz it would take a bit of time until they catch up with the rest thats not thinning. At least I noticed that with my own hair and I have almost exactly the same pattern as you, though probably a bit more left on top.

You are amazing! Literally! Such an inspiration! Sometimes I keep looking for new ways of growing my own hair. For example, using Onion juice to regrow my hair, thinking about a hair transplant, judging myself for my past experiences and feel down everytime I do it. It is awful to keep doing that. It sucks because I am not in control of my hair. I feel miserable yet. However, I am super confident that I will find the right time to be more aligned with my own values and stick to my routine to shave of my head entirely. Thank you Baldcafe

First off, love your videos so far man. I’ve had a receding hairline since I was in my 20’s. Just in the past year or so, it is in a similar state as your hair in this video, so I buzz cut it. When you said you wouldn’t want it to grow back, it made me think. I do have to say that if I had the power to make it all grow back, I would. It’s partially a vanity thing, but it’s mainly just to give myself options. Just like when I sometimes grow my beard out. Once in a while I like it, but mostly I shave it. I do like the option though. Keep up the great work.

The disadvantages of shaving my head are the itch and burning feeling when sweating and, having my scalp very smooth, hats and caps dont slide easily unless the caps have the elastic band FLEXFIT. I tried multiple methods such as the hot towels before shaving, different shaving gels, creams, conditioner, razors with 2,3,4,5 ,blades and the single barber's blade, but still get the itch and burning when sweating, but if I shave at night before going to bed, then there is no itching, its like the scalp heals with sleeping overnight, anyway, I love my look of shinny shaved head with a full beard, I shave every 3 days

As someone who is losing my hair and has been for about 7 or 8 years (since my early 20’s) this is just the way the hair regrows. What you dont think about is that if you are buzzing your hair with clippers you have allowed the hair to grow out and buzz it down to even length dozens or even hundreds of time over the years and it has filled in. My hair does the same but i can almost guarantee that if you grew it out and kept it trimmed for a few months it would fill in a lot more than it is roght here and even if you cut it down to this length it would have a chance to fill in. Its just like having a beard. A beard will be its thickest after a few months maintained at the same length after it has a chance to fill in. And for those out there going through the same thing, you should just know that nobody really notices like you think they do. I struggled with ot too early on, worrying about the balding and wondering if people noticed. But honestly just take it on the chin and buzz it short or shave it off completely and be confident in it. After all jason statham, bruce willis, dwayne the rock johnson, vin diesel, there are alot of badass dudes that women find very attractive who are bald or balding. It took me a few years to accept it, but the 5 or 6 years since have been just like normal before i started balding, its not even something i think about anymore. Although i desperately wish i could have a mullet or a bowl cut and i actually mean that, i love being that guy. But it wasnt in the cards for me i guess

You have beautiful bone structure. It’s really apparent when your beard is short but when you have a nice face and beautiful eyes people aren’t gonna be looking for bald patches. And usually people aren’t gonna have the birds eye view. Also nobody is going to laugh unless you have a crazy comb over blowing around.

Next stage for me will be a buzz cut without the plastic number 1 guard. That's a big deal for me which I'm building up to. I shaved my head too after so many years trying to hide it. I have a bad looking head shape and you can still see the balding pattern, even after a razor shave. But to be honest, I feel much better! No going back!

Nice experiment Harry. I feel like you less is more in away. I feel more confident after a head shave and less so after a day or two.

I honestly think its because when you shave your head regularly you just feel like you are taking care of yourself and your appearance and so can be proud and content with it.

@@Baldcafe Yeah that is one reason for sure and I feel it is more psychological too. The fact is when you are 'freshly shaved' it is the feeling of here I am with nothing to hide. With a little 'growth' you feel more conscious that your hair shows it 'weak' points. Example if someone with hair was to shave their hair off you would look the same as the 'fresh point'. After a few days their hair would be looking even and nice, whereas ours would not, patchy etc.

I shave my head every summer and I like the look, not noticed any hair loss yet besides a few mm of recession (I'm 26), but at least I know that I look good with no hair. I actually met my girlfriend with a grade 0 (I have the military crew cut normally).

Been shaving my head for nearly 6 years, decided to grow it out in January. Now nearing 75 days in. Have significant balding/thinning in the crown and top with extended widow's peak, what one would call Norwood 5 on the hair loss scale. Other than being thin up top and in the crown the rest is growing in quite nicely. The hair is already wanting to cover the top of my ears. Planning to grow for as long it will grow 'terminal length' or I get bored with it or tire of caring for it. Thinking a pony tail as the main style or maybe a skullet?

To anyone out there that is going through hair loss... let it go and accept it ! Shave or buzz your hair and I can guarantee you that you are going to feel amazing! In my case as soon as my hairline started receding I didn’t think twice and buzzed it off! It’s been six years now I don’t have any regrets!

never thought it looked 'untidy'. it showed you can still grow a lot of hair. I cut mine to 0.5 once a week and people think I can still grow a full head of hair if I wanted to. it's only when it gets above 2-3mm that the sparseness and balding becomes really apparent.

Yea when I first shaved my head about 3 years ago, I would think like that sometimes. I was pretty lazy with shaving, but would sometimes think about if people noticed if I hadn't shaved my head in a few days or a week. Now it is just part of my daily routine. Wouldn't even think twice about it now even if I did let it grow out more. I think you just went through that initial process everyone does, and now you won't even care from this point on haha. Good video.
