Quick note: the 1d4 Fire Damage on the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane came from the Flawed Helldusk Gauntlets that was equipped and not actually from the sword itself.

Scratch also has this cool passive ability called Scratches Sniff, Scratch uses this when he notices something in the area ad will point towards it. It makes travelling with Scratch quite good when just walking around and exploring because he can help you find loot and hidden stuff.

If your getting the silver sword in act one just know it kinda messes up Lazels story because your not supposed to get it for a long time later. But if you dont care about her talking about things that have not happened then its great.

I think The Whispering Promise ring is greatly underestimated. Especially since you can trigger it’s effect in combat by eating a berry and not use up an action or bonus action or CONCENTRATION. It’s pretty much a permanent Bless when in TB mode without the annoying concentration. That and the Ring of Protection are two items I use constantly from Act 1 all the way to the final boss fight in Act 3, before credits roll.

most important for new player: learn how to steal (pickpocket). 1) you won't miss the gloves at goblin the first time you meet Druid Grove. but you also need to find the smuggler's ring somewhere on a corpse, google the location. 2) shadowheart (cleric) can cast enhance abilities: cat's grace at lv3. no matter how high your sleigh of hand, without cat's grace, there always 1/20 chance for nat1 critical failure. (1/400 to roll nat1 with advantage) 3) if you have self-disguise, you may as well need the shapeshifter ring. just kill the strange Ox. not missing a lot or at all to kill him at act1. 4) there's a silver pendant can let you cast Guidance. if shadowheart need to cast Enhance abilities, you can get that to cast it on yourself. (or just use hirling.) 5) Feel free to steal Wither, he don't care. And do remember to steal him EVERY TIME you used his service, don't let the gold accumulate or at some point the skill check is too high and it's impossible to steal it back.

As far as withers go, you can steal from him when check gets higher than 20 you just need to roll nat 20

that's true, you have like 1/10 chance for nat20 with advantage. but you can keep trying on wither without consequence so loss nothing except for a little time.@@CSnake4Gaming

If you miss Voss in act1 dont worry,you will meet him at the start of act3 If you have Lae'Zell in your party for the entire act 1 and 2,and you can get the silver soword there if you make the right choises when speaking to Raphael

Even if you make different choices when speaking to Raphael, you will have another chance later to get it from Voss -- so you are not forced to make "a deal with the devil".

You can also buy another one off Voss when you meet him in Baldur’s Gate Upper City. What’s better than 1 Silver Sword of the Astral Plane? 2 Silver Swords of the Astral Plane, if you got multiple Giths in you main party.

@@RE-jb2keI was playing a half elf barbarian and managed to get the heat metal to procc on Voss in act 1 while hidden. Tav woke up every day, drank his elixir of hill giant strength, and temporarily shapeshifted into a Gith to get the sword’s buff to activate. Giving it to Lae’zel was never an option for my power hungry Tav, he loves that sword, he’s had it since level 3. Having it on a statted up barbarian completely destroys the difficulty curve of the early game though.

Omeleeum sells level 3 spell slot restoration necklace that’s way more useful than the ring tbh, being able to cast like aid at level 3 and get the slot back on your cleric is a lot better than 2 extra hit points tbh…

theres a closer mace below the lathander puzzle. go down the stairs/destroy the wood wall turn left theres a door. its in there ona skelly. but you can use any mace

56 hours in act 1 is absurd. I’m on my second playthrough and I may have a combined 50 hours on act 1 and I’ve done literally everything you could imagine.

@@AC030do you play on pc? i feel like the game can be a little slower for us xbox players, i spend a lot of time in my inventory alone and it can take a while to go through menus using the controller. I also dont think these types of games are really hits on console as opposed to PC but thats just my opinion and testament to how good the game is.

I'd be careful about #2. I did this in my second playthrough on tactician and it led to a sequence break with Lazael, in which she would no longer speak to me. The only workaround I found was to do it without her in the party.

You should use a Rangers Bear summon with its Honeyclaw (something honey idk) attack for a better chance at him to drop it anyways. The highest I've gotten it to is 95%.

If you dont want to do the "find 3 weapons" for blood of lethander you can just shoot the crystals. Pop a speed potion or use haste and 1-2 characters can drop them before boom

@dangr123 where they are discussing blood of lethander mace, they mention you have to find 3 weapons to get a crest or the creche goes boom with you all in it. If you switch to turn based mode and have ranged attacks/spells ready there are four crystals around the area that once destroyed the self destruct will shut off. You can skip the extra things and still get the legendary with minimal effort

I let the boom countdown initiate even when I have the crest that disabled it because it allows my party to escape safely. Then one guy stays behind and disables the countdown. Then I 'summon' that last guy by making the rest of the party click on a fast travel rune.

Same. I’ve been playing since day one and have more than 500 hours. Never been past lvl 8 and never got further than @ halfway through act 2. I’m still finding out new things in act 1 and constantly experimenting with new multi class builds.

Yep, Guilty as charged. 1st playthrough as Bard got to lvl 6 & realised I'd screwed up a lot. 2nd playthrough as a Wizard got to lvl 8 & saw a video about the Lightning charged Staff... DOH !!!! So am now at lvl 9 in Act 2 on my 3rd attempt.... 😁

For the Monastery legendary item: For the mace if you want the ceremonial mace for whatever reason (my fellow competitionists) You grab it off of one of the Kobolds in the monastery. The same path you take to the eagles up top: Go to the far corner of the dingy pool and jump to the rock. Climb your way down and you’ll see the opening for the distillery room. If you want to cheese the fight kill any of the Kobolds with fire and you’ll ignite the entire room. Letting you take a step back and pick off any that don’t die to the fire. (Important for honor mode imo)

I just cheese it by skipping those events and stopping the self destruct sequence by shooting the crystals when the shield goes up. You get 4 turns to break 4 crystals

@@Thwompapotamus While XP is largely irrelevant after early into act 3. Acts 1 & 2 every level matters so I choose not to do that specifically for the XP lol You can usually gain an entire level if you do everything at the monastery.

fun fact later in act 3 you can find a place or vender with a potion to make the owlbear a fighter and he gets big. i did see i in a vid but the vid did not say anything about mods so take it with a grain of salt unless someone knows about it

I actually skipped the first puzzle at number 8 enterily by using the spell that opens locks with gale then later on i did the Puzzle only to find out that i already got the reward without even knowing. 😅😂 So yeah you can skip the entire getting the weapons and placing them on the right podest with a spell you can learn with gale.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but if you have a Wizard in your party, Gale or Tav, you can right click the scroll of summon Quasit and select Learn to get Shovel as a permanent summon without having to do the dialogue choices. If you do not have a Wizard in your party though, like some sort of heathen, then yeah, the dialogue choices work too, I guess. Never tried that because I like having wizards. Also, not sure if this is a bug or not, but I backed away from the Owlbear without fighting it on the way to the Goblin Camp. After the goblin fights, the owlbear cub was still there for me to interact with. I did all the things to allow it to come live at my camp, but so far it has not. Then again it might do so later as I long rest very infrequently and most of the time when I have long rested there was some sort of scripted event that happened when I did, like the party after resolving the tiefling/goblin conflict.

Holy crap, I had no idea you could permanently learn Shovel without being a Wizard!! Thank you! :D Also, how have I never thought of using the sussur weapons on Ethel?!?! 🤦😂 That's going to be VERY useful in HM 😀 Worth noting that Scratch is MUCH more powerful at end game if you use the cleric Aid spell at max level, as it gives him significantly more survivability. He can also find treasure for you if you fail your passive roll to find it (this is a bit buggy at the moment though). The owlbear can be VERY helpful at end game if you recruit him to camp as well! With the weapons you have to find for Blood of Lathander, if you place them all, get the item for the *actual* Lathander mace, then pick the altar weapons back up and equip them, each character with an equipped weapon from those altars gets a decent buff until long rest too. Once you have the item, you do not need to leave them on the altars.

Everburn is way over-hyped. Its just a greatsword dipped in fire. Get any +1 Greatsword, throw a candle on the ground and dip it. You now have a better sword.

I made the mace in the forge, it says it crits every hit. It does not. I was getting hits of 3 and 4 with it, I did see it say crit once.

Don't forget about the Everburn Blade! You can use command: drop on the demon lord who is fighting the mind flayer on the helm of the nautilus Really good great sword Don't know if that's technically act 1, but it the first really powerful weapon you can get.

@@franzschleusner6445 BTW: I did not want to break my oath as Oath of the Ancients Paladin, but did so several times already. It is much easier to break it, than not to do so, at least with this subclass.

Well i got snowed in this week from work. Im finally fully ready to move to act 2 after 49hrs 44min. This game is gonna ruin my life trying to balance it and work next week.

Getting Voss's sword in Act 1 is extremely difficult because the Geth crew is insanely strong

Keep laezel at base, summon a hireling fighter, give it disarming strike. Use astarion to climb down the ladder at the top of the bridge and have him sneak behind the rock to wait to pick up the sword. Both astarion and new recruit should have invis potions and be separated from the rest of the party. Have the new recruit now cross the bridge in stealth and climb down the rocks on the right side behind the dragon. At this point I would save because it'll probably take a couple tries. Have the new fighter use a potion of invis and I made mine use a hill giants strength as well but idk if that helps or not. Then enter turn based mode, disarming strike to get the sword(only in turn based though if not he picks it up and Flys off with it), then have astarion pick the sword up using a potion of invis while in stealth. As soon as you pick it up transfer all of astarions stuff to one of your other 2 characters as he and the new fighter will both die. Then go back to camp, talk to withers and have him resurrect astarion and watch over the new fighter. Then you'll be good to go. Give the sword to laezel and all of astarions stuff back to him and you're good to go.

It also generally takes save scumming. Even if you put it off as long as possible, you only have a 55% chance at best to make him drop the sword.

Don't touch Scratches dead owner, been told it would make it where Scratch won't trust you & show up to the camp. I'm not a monster killing the mama Owlbear, I spoke to her as a Druid & offered her to help her with the spear stuck in her head. She told me she doesn't need my help, that she's had will survive & had worse; than she said she's gonna eat me. Don't poke the Druid Bear, I offered her assistance & she denied with an aggression. Only protected myself & my companions, not my fault his mother was attacked.... Now I get a cute baby Owlbear as a pet at my camp 🥰.

No they’re not, but you will need to have completed the Grove quest before moving onto this section as you can’t go back to finish the Grove mission after entering. Other act 1 missions can be completed as normal.

I finally started the game on series x this week due to being snowed in. Bought it day 1. I'm finally done doing every quest and collecting every piece of gear that was obtainable per one sided quest. I'm at 49h 44 min and level 7. Act 2 should be a breeze
