one thing you missed in the druid section is picking up longstrider as you can buff all 4 members of the party for no spellslots with ritual buffs

Great set of tips. You sound like a true pro! A tip to new-comers : Don't multi-class at all. Focus on your class, and enjoy the development of your class. Multi-classing is highly overrated, unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Instead rely on your companions and even out the skill-set with them, and focus on your class being the best it can be.

Remember that humans get light armor proficiency + shield for free in BG3. That means if you are a human wizard, you don't need mage-armor once you can get studded leather +1 or spidersilk armor.

I felt Charisma based characters i.e. Bard Warlock and Paladins are very easy to play with and integrated into the starting party. I love to play the Monk but had a really hard time getting a balanced party around that class. I am also loving Karlach but did not use her much as of now.

Thank you for all your videos, they were extremely helpful. Bg3 was very overwhelming for me (still is). But your videos convinced me to persevere and really helped me get some solid foundation of the different mechanics.

Just remember guys that Hex uses concentration and you can't concentrate on two spells at once so if you use Hex you are also missing out on plenty of other good spells like Darkness or mentioned Cloud of Daggers.

I’m really enjoying the Eldritch Knight Fighter. Shield is insanely useful for tanking, Blade Ward too. Firebolt gives them a good ranged option, Thunderwave when they’re surrounded and Sleep to help keep some foes at bay.

Keep them coming, my PC can't run this game but while I wait for the PS5 release I can't get enough of your BG3 vides.

Rogue-Thief has the great ability to gain a second bonus action. You can hide twice in one turn, or hide and dash. This is great for keeping in hiding after a sneak attack, and reposition if necessary. Outside of scripted encounters, a thief can solo kill an entire enemy group undetected if the location is favorable.

For wizards, don't forget about ritual spells. They don't seem like much, most of the time, but they're free buffs except to the extent that you have to keep the spell prepared

What I really loved about your DoS 2 guides were the party comp suggestions, considering that you are more locked to certain classes/subclasses in bg3 if you wanna bring companions and go through their story. I had serious decision paralysis when choosing my starting class and party since I didn't really know what worked and didn't work when it came to multiclassing. Party comp guides would certainly help give people ideas of what classes they want while also having some companions that they want. Awesome work so far!

Just wanted to add that the spell Enhanced Leap is really useful for both in and out of combat. It's also a "ritual" spell so can be cast for free outside of combat. Every spell caster except for Cleric, Paladin, and Warlock has access to it I believe. For some ridiculously long jumps, try combining Enhanced Leap with the Druid's spider form jump.

Great video because you can skip right to the class you've chosen. I did choose Fighter and Battle Master for my first playthrough b/c I want a fairly straightforward character as I learn the rest of the systems.

Fully agree on taking a first level in fighter for any full caster. Armor and defense fighting style is useful for all but cleric, and con save proficiency is amazing for all but sorcerer (who tbh I'd recommend dipping cleric for a level at level 2 instead to get armor and goodies). Second Wind is good too. And later once you get a few more spells going you can choose to go back and pick up fighter 2 for action surge, which does incredible things for quick setups and burst damage. If you really don't want to delay your casting progression I'd say respec at level 6 and start fighter and get 5 levels of your caster. You'll feel as powerful as you did last level and a lot more sturdy and it'll feel good not to fail as many concentration checks.

Protection fighter fighting alongside a sentinel rogue is a good pairing. Attacks on the rogue get disadvantage from the fighter and attacks on the fighter provoke sentinel vengeance from the rogue.

Always obsessed with dialogue options or similar... Bard is the best that way. Speak with animals, Detect thoughts, Friends can all be had quite nicely by them.

The best way to use Smite is as a toggable Reaction: in some cases, you will get lucky on base damage roll and kill the monster without needing Smite it and thus save a spell slot. Also, if you Smite as a reaction after a critical, your Smite damage is doubled.

Sometimes it's worth to stretch out how long you can go without Long Resting, but mostly on Tactician, since resting takes 80 supplies instead of the usual 40. This makes Bards very useful, since Song of Rest basically counts as third short rest.

A good tip would be to read everything about the spells you take as any kind of caster. From if it’s a bonus action or normal action or if it’s AOE or touch make sure you check.

Completely disagree on Rogue. Do not waste your sub on Assassin. The two perks only work on the first round and surprise round. Meanwhile Thief giving you an extra bonus action equates to such flexibility.

I love how if you played dnd 5e before then you can just jump in. Like its crazy how most of the tips in this vid apply to dnd as well

I'm level 8 with veng paladin now, I was constantly debating if I wanted to go Oathbreaker like I did in the EA since I enjoyed that subclass so much. I also was considering either sorcerer or warlock for multiclassing since you can easily eat away at your smite spells and having to use a long rest all the time can be a bit of a pain.

Can't wait for the multiclass vid I'm new to d&d and crpg's and I really wanna multiclass warlock/paladin but have no idea the best way to go about it!

Nature-Cleric is an amazing tank. If you tak 8 str 10 dex 14/16con 8 int, 17 wis, 16/14 cha and most importantly shillelagh cantrip, you will decently hit coz shillelagh scales with wisdom. You can wear heavy armor + shields, High wisdom allows you to walk first coz u're the one who is likely to be first seeing the trap and, unless you have Wyll in your party, you have the best charisma for dialogues. 80% of interactions machine that is also decent in battles, hits, survives, buffs, heals. Just an amazing build for those who are too lazy to use different characters in every interaction.

Those gloves that give +2 AC unarmored really helps make UD worth it.

one thing to note about bard taht i learned the hard way is that the amount of bardic inspiration you get is not tied to your charisma modifier. i have a feeling its tied to proficientcy (1+PB) but im not sure cuz i havent gotten to level 5 yet.

Circle of the Land Druid : as a player who avoids resting too often (especially on Tactician where it cost 80 food!), I do like the extra spell slots! (i.e. out of combat, you can regain a spell slot once per day I think).

Wizards are very good at multiclassing. If you only get one level of wizard, you can get 4 ritual spells to cast out of combat as preparation. Then, you can literally pick any class to play for the rest of the game. I would suggest going two levels, then switching out for your fighter or rogue with transmutation school (to scribe all the rituals and brew all the potions, you want to potion of giant strength) and all the rituals. It is better to start as either rogue or fighter because of the way multiclassing works.

Since I'm a lower damage, split points, skill monkey main character I have raised the difficulty a bit with a 4 class mostly bard/ranger build, haha.

Regarding the Grease spell, I think it's very much worth mentioning that the grease is flammable and can be strategically turned into a flaming surface for very solid additional damage in the early game. I really liked combining this with flaming sphere, as enemies would often stand around attacking the sphere (with its chunky 20hp) while burning to death. Sadly, the damage does drop off a bit

For fighter one really key thing is that they get the second feat/ ability increase at level 6. This makes it the only class that can multiclass with a 6/6 or 5/7 split between two classes and still get all 3 feats. (For a bonus you can get 3 attacks per round with the warlock pact of the blade extra attack stacking with the fighters one) This is can synergise nicely with a battle master fighter as you end up with two level 3 spell slots that regenerate with your superiority die on short rest without having to sacrifice your 3 attacks per round that would normally take 11 levels of fighter to have.

It's funny seeing what class the most people are interested in by looking at the most replayed or played starting points in the time bar at the bottom of the video. Looks like a lot of paladins.

Thief : the extra Bonus Action in BG3 is incredible ! You can hide, dash, offhand attack, etc. ( Note : in 5e rules, this is impossible. You can never have two Bonus Actions )

Playing over the next few weeks?… I’m going to be an act one for the next few months.! 😁👍 But thanks for the tips here, I was planning to get three levels in ranger for gloom stalker, and then start dipping into monk for shadow step at level six… But I may hold off now until I hit level five with the Ranger before dipping into Monk. I just want shadow steps soon as possible for my gloom, stalker ranger ninja build I have in my head and so the sooner the better but at the same time to your point… It’s probably not worth missing out on an extra attack that you get a level5 . So I may take your advice here and wait a little bit.

speak to animals is also a potion which lasts until long rest so if none of your characters have it you can still speak to animals.

I'm going to try a stealthy team. Front line / face is going to be a pact of the blade Warlock with the great weapon fighting, devilsight, darkness combo. Support caster is going to be a druid. Skill monkey is going to be a rogue. Offensive caster is going to be a mage

Imo Warlock with the small minion class early on helps more than the extra HP on kill. Its one more body doing something for you.

I've literally taken almost nothing you've recommended other than the eldritch blast tips. Might have to visit Withers if what I've taken isnt working out, wish id taken Hex now also i didnt read it properly i guess.

As a new player with about 4 hours in as a wizard i highly recommend sleep as a starting spell. Let’s you put 3 things to sleep for 2 turns super OP in the early game so far

Explain how bardic inspiration works. Is it automatically triggered on any attack roll? How does combat inspiration change that. What does clicking the icon do?

Barb: IIRC, Unarmored Defense doesn't really beat armor until you have like 14 DEX and 20 CON or something like that...Also, it's the same type of effect as Sorcerer's Draconic Resilience and Monk's Unarmored Defense, so they don't stack if you plan to multiclass. In any case, it's not worth it. Cleric: War or Tempest are very effective as a 1-2 level dip for your main class, you get a lot of nice stuff from them Druid: From what I've gathered online, Spore Druid is kinda meh...sounds cool on paper but the complain is that it sorta encourages you to go melee but punishes you for doing so. It's a bit complicated. As for the other two, if you wanna go melee Druid go Wild Shape, for caster go Land. Late game caster Druids are very strong. They are one of those classes that discourage multiclassing, though... Monk: IIRC, any weapon that you are profficient with is considered a Monk weapon, which increases versatility. There are still some restrictions, I think, but something like multiclassed Way od the Shadow Monk can benefit from rapiers, for example, and something like spears can provide range. Warlock: Wood Half-Elf is probably the best race for it (and great overall) as it gives you more movement speed, access to long weapons, immunity to charm and most importantly shield profficiency. If you don't plan on going with medium or heavy armor or multiclassing (Warlock is one of those classes that are better pure), it's a big boon. If you do multiclass, 1-2 levels in Sorcerer is really good for CON save profficiency and Draconic goodies (great if you go with robes), A level in Fighter for CON save profficiency, access to martial weapons and all armors and fightning style at lv1. War/Tempest Cleric is also good as a 1 level dip, Bard has its perks too...Avoid going melee with Warlock because Hexblade subclass is not in the game and I don't think Pact of the Blade is good enough substitute. Also, War Caster feat is a great pickup for any caster or character that relies on Concentration.

You completely missed getting Longstrider as a starting spell for wizard. That along with Enhanced Leep are great starting spells for Wizards. You can cast them as rituals and the last until you take a long rest. Longstrider gives you a 30% increase to movement in combat and can be great for positioning your fighters. You can cast it on your entire party out of combat and you don't need to worry about refreshing them.

"long rest after every 1 or 2 combat encounters" was the most relieving, validating shit I've ever heard. Me thinking combat in this game is just brutal and there's just not enough spell slots -- for today's session I'm going to try going a little more HAM.

With pact of the blade you get actually two casts of eldritch blast.

For Paladin, idk when you get heavy armor that's at least 16/17 AC, but until that happens, it's worth having 14 DEX for an additional +2 AC on your medium armor. It's sooo helpful (16 STR, 14DEX, 14 CON, 14 CHR). Yeah, it's a little goofy on stats, but it works very well.

Must have made these video in like the pre-alpha as the options don't always match up. Yes there mostly there just in different area of action picked.

Moonbeam + spiritual weapon is a great way for a Cleric to get two attacks per round.

Thief over assasin imo. Makes movement/hiding in combat way better. I multiclassed 5 gloomstalker to be fair. Start off with hunters mark and coating then smack em 3 times. Then 5 times a turn after. Or if yiu need to play safe, sneak shot, in combat hide, shoot, hide etc.

Cant believe you didnt even mention Thief's Fast Hands. 2 BAs is INSANE. More cunning actions or just throw a shitton of bombs and potions

Hex is a trap after 4th level at the latest or higher in warlock. There are much better spells you can be concentrating on with your two whole spell slots.

Don't try to follow this video to the dot guys.. experiment, go with the feel, go with your roleplaying. This is a true rpg , discover stuff on your own and have fun rather than seeing guides for everything atleast in first playthrough

Shield dwarves get medium armor proficiency. You can be a wizard with 19 AC at level 1.

In DnD I always recommend Charisma characters. Conversation is a huge part of most campaigns so being able to contribute positively is huge, and sadly it's all wrapped into that one stat.

Question... how is your starting gear on bard etc a suit of chainmail? For me in game it's a hideous cloth coat or something. Actually, all your characters have chainmail in character selection it seems. Is there an option I'm missing that lets us pick our armor?

I have a question about the Druid's Wildshape ability. As a fairly cheesy maneuver, some time back in EA, I would use either Wyll's imp, or a Ranger's raven familiar, to do Recon, and fly around, unlocking Waypoints, ahead of the party actually traveling around the map. Larian, wisely, put the kibosh on that little stunt; but could a Druid in a Wildshape use their animal form to do Recon, traveling around the map with their heightened abilities? Asking for a Cheese-addicted friend.

Class tip for every class that isn't Rogue. Play Rogue. You can steal everything, get everywhere, and choose when and where to fight. If you set up an ambush with Astarion and your Rogue character, you can start most fights without the big baddie in the fight since your first attack kills them 👍

I am going to be a scimitar + shield melee ranger maxing dex do you reccomend i use medium or light armor. Or even some combination (start medium and switch light after my dex maxxed)

That's the only thing I don't like about Baldurs gate 3 Long rest after every 2 combat encounters I wish it was 4 I do it after 4, and the 3rd and 4th feel like a slog.

still kinda bummed about the Sneak Attack nerf. Really hurts Rogues across the board since you cant use sneak attack on your bonus action attack if youre dual wielding, and you cant sneak attack on Opportunity attacks.

Long Rest after every 1-2 encounters on Balanced? That's wild, I generally go without resting for at least a few hours, I thought the general rule of thumb is short rest after every 1-2 encounters, and then when after both short rests are used up and you barely have any resources left you can either go for a smaller/easier skirmish or do a Long Rest. I believe in my ~15 hours of playing I had roughly 4 long rests.

This is my plan (anyone can give any criticism to it or any suggestions for it). I'm thinking of dual classing a rogue with the arcane trickster sub class (either as a custom character (which would be either an elf or half-elf) or the origin character that is already a rogue (can't spell name). I just don't know what to take for the second class, thinking sorcerer but not 100% sure. Any ideas would help.
