@@bravalloy Well not really good old D&D because in D&D you can't use Quickened Spell to cast a 2nd Fireball if you already cast a spell of lvl 1 or up that turn. THere's a reason that rule exists and it's exactly this clip. If Sorcs could throw 2 Fireballs per turn they'd be incredibly busted.

I don't know... I like the barbarian better - has more single target damage, and doesn't rely on spell slots. Fighting the baguette (for example) is easier as a barbarian. Not to mention the dialogue options you get - pure comedy gold.

When you attack out of stealth, the first attack (melee, ranged, spell or any other action) happens in the round before the fight. So, after your stealth attack you enter combat, the first round starts and since your enemies are surprised, they skip their first round which lets you attack 2 times in the row. I think even 3 if you roll high enough initiative. And even more with the haste buff.

1) I used metamagic to gain an additional level 3 spell slot. 2) I used up a level 1 and a level 2 spell slots to gain back 3 metamagic. 3) I initiated the fight with a Fireball from stealth and surprised the enemies. 4) I used the metamagic to make my next Fireball cost a bonus action instead of an action and used it. 5) I used my remaining action to cast yet another Fireball. 6) I finished the fight with a Shatter.

@@KING_NIMROD Being able to cast 2 fireballs in the same turn as a sorcerer is a feature. However, initiating combat, surprising the enemy and still having your action available is a bug, that will be fixed for the game's official release (according to footage from their latest panel from hell). Using up all of your bonus actions instead of just one is also a bug, but I don't know if this one will be fixed.

Naah... either are good in different situations. If enemies were more spread out, so they couldn't all be targeted by the fireball at the same time, then a martial class may have dealt more damage to them. At the very least, in Act 3 is much harder to get enemies grouped up like this and then martial classes truly shine.

@@Khantia I would say Yes, but im talking about dnd in general not bg3. If you are resourceful and have good ideas you can deal with a lot of enemies Or strong enemies with relative ease while compared to martial classes' performance. (In bg3 however I love larian for reworking the monk, gotta be my favourite martial class now)

And you are correct, it is not intended to work that way. In DnD 5e it is not possible to cast more than one level 1 or higher spell each turn. Quickened Spell is governed by the same rule. I guess they'll fix it in the future before the game launches, but for now, just fireball everything.

@@Faerlina Nah, It's possible but unlikely due to action economy. Examples include using a second level spell as a reaction like feather fall if you jump from a bridge after casting a fireball, stuff like that. There is also the Action Surge combo.

@@floflo6660 no it’s not impossible because of action economy, it’s explicitly not possible in 5e to cast 2 levelled spells in one turn

​@@sheildon6 it literally is with action surge as long as you don't try to cast a bonus action spell. You have two actions therefore two action spells. Furthermore you can cast one levelled reaction spell per turn so even without action surge the baseline is two levelled spells a turn. eg: action to cast hold person, reaction to silvery barbs their successful saving throw. No bonus action has been used so there is no issue.

I'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug because healing word can work with cure wounds in the game, got me out of a few tight jams here and there.

I have no idea how it works in DnD, but I think it's intentional and not a bug. What do you mean by "leveled spell"? What spells CAN you quicken? Cantrips only?

@@Khantia The rule in 5e is that if you cast a spell as a bonus action, you can't cast a leveled (non-cantrip) spell as your action. So for instance, if you use Misty Step or Shield of Faith, your only choice as far as spells go is to cast a cantrip. It's been done for balancing reasons -- basically to prevent casters from doing exactly what you're doing in the video and making the martials feel even worse about their lack of magic :D

It's been a while since I've played D&D, and there are some bugs in this game currently, but I believe it happens thus: first hit - not in combat. Once they've been hit, they're surprised, and can't react for one round. Still in round one, it becomes the player's turn. They quicken cast Fireball, using their bonus action, then cast it again as their action. The remaining gith got their turn in round two and they turned invisible (but stupidly remained in one spot), but then the player Shattered them on their turn. (I might also point out that the quicken metamagic is a little broken in the game at the moment, as they should only have been allowed to use one levelled spell - Fireball - and then a cantrip, not two Fireballs.)

@@mishkaraeCasting multiple fireballs via quicken spell is still in the game; which it was intended to be that way.

Doesn't really matter - it's no longer there since the game's official release :P

Sorry, my recording software was playing tricks on me. I was seeing everything normally while recording and only noticed the glitches afterwards. But even now I'm not sure why they are happening.

It's a turn based game, and they got hit out of stealth so they were surprised and (besides the last one) never got a turn.

@@AirLancer True. I don't think it's that the last one never got a turn. He was melee only with no ranged so had no opportunity except to move/buff but decided not to. AI combat. Not sure what that last spell was? Works good on hip shot inviso targets though.

The problem is poor use of the DnD rules. In the tabletop game you aren't allowed to attack people outside of combat. So if you said "I cast fireball on them" then you'd roll for initiative and cast the spell on your first round of combat. Also, if the enemy can see you, they aren't surprised so they might act before you even finish casting your fireball. In this video they are showing the sorcerer cast a fireball before combat even started, then it rolling for surprise afterwards and them being surprised. So the sorcerer gets to act again before they do. Then they use quickened spell which normally won't let you cast two fireballs in one round but does in this game. So they cast it two more times. So in the tabletop game it is likely that you'd get 0 fireballs off before they shot at you. In this game you get 3.

If you find it's too easy I would suggest limiting your long rests. I tend to take 4 long-rests per play through for the entirety of early access and the difficulty is just fine.

@@wasabilover1293 I've played over 1500 hours of Early Access. I've played a custom 4 wizard party with zero long rests and completed EA. Like D&D it's all about managing resources. 4 long rests is just fine even with a party of Wizards.

It's actually funny. When I finish a fight, even if I haven't expended any spell slots and even if my whole squad is full on HP, they will still use the line "We need to rest".

@@Khantia that has always bugged me in this kind of games. In the previous BG games you would only hear them complain about how tired they were or how they could use a rest, when they had not rested for X IG hours (which could be more or could be less for each character depending on their constitution scores). In other games you need to find a properly secured place to rest, and that means you can't just rest everytime you want... which is imho key to get a true(isher) D&D feel Anyway

@@RaulGonn1 That might be something they are waiting to balance until the full game, if not I guarantee wait a week and someone will have a mod that you can use where they won't say it until you are at X amount of health and like DOS2 they will just take that mod and put it in a giftbag :p

Nope, it's Early Access, when the game still didn't have tactician mode, and also had a glitch, where you had an extra action point when doing something like this.

there is bug - you cant cast 2 spells at round via metamagic - according to rules it can be only spell+ cantrip or 2 cantrips

It is due to the magic trinket I believe. You can see it's called Fiery return. When you deal fire damage with a non cantrip spell you gain an additional action. That is where the second fireball comes from. Though, unsure where the action for shatter comes from. Possibly from the quickened spell. The OP would have better knowledge to explain.

@@dominiksikic2113 First turn: Action - Fireball (enemy surprised so they don't act) Second turn: Action - fireball, bonus action (with quickened) fireball Third turn: Shatter (not sure why the enemy didn't move on turn 2 - they cast action jump and action surge + invisibility so they should have movement left)

Also fun note there is now a feat that let's you get around the spell level restrictions with action/bonus action casting. That's clearly not what happened here the other comments explained it nicely, just thought I'd share how to do it in the tabletop

Technically, they are: an Elf, a Half-Elf, a Human and a Tiefling. So they are all have different faces. Couldn't make them the same even if I wanted to. However, each race has only 1 or 2 faces that I like, so they may have ended up looking similar. But yeah... I also would've liked to have more customization options. And if you don't mean the face, then you are a hater indeed.

@@Venjamin I ran 4 game clients at the same time on my PC and joined a LAN game. I created the characters and then closed 3 of the clients when the game started.

@@Khantia i liked it too but Divinity:OS 3 =/= Baldurs Gate 3. Larian really lack creativity just bcuz they had 1 successful game series lately doesnt mean everything else has to look the same...

@@dvls2945 I have not played BG 1 and 2. I have played DoS 2, Solasta and Pillars of Eternity. I don't see what Larian could have done differently in order to satisfy your desires. And we haven't even seen the city itself yet in EA, it may be a bit too soon to judge.
