I legitemly felt like I had made a grave error when this song started playing and I started looking at what I was up against. I felt as if my playthrough was about to end right there and then. My cleric used divine intervention AOE in order for us to barely win this. Most epic boss fight in an RPG ever.

"True Souls that couldn't be bought!" makes you wonder what Raphael is more mad about? us being home invaders or us not being tricked by him?

Going to avernus is no easy act, but leaving- Now that's where the real challenge lies.

I beat the fight (balanced) but this still sits with me. God what a moment in gaming history. I say this as a 47 year old man who has the BG1 and BG2 boxes sitting on his shelf from launch day.

Appropriate music for one of the hardest fights in the game. Really nailed the "oh. Oh we fucked UP" of it.

This fight was easily one of the best highlights of the game for my first completed playthrough because my victory would not have been possible (at least on that try) had it not been for a series of earlier decisions in the game. TL;DR Wasted Raphael by pulling the most brash, idiotic, and beautiful D&D barbarian move ever: literally charging myself headfirst directly into a very large bomb on accident. [Some Story Spoilers Below] So uh, I saved the deep gnome Wilburen or w/e his name is at Moonrise Towers, and he helped me get into Baldur's Gate proper later on. After sneaking into the city with the deep gnomes, I talked to him and got a mission to blow up the Steel Watch factory, and he gave me a purple runepowder bomb. When I got to the factory, I didn't use it because dude is just racist and wanted to kill the Gondians as well as the Steel Watch....so I kept it and saved as many Gondians as I could while dismantling the Steel Watch And every now and again later on I'd try to use it from the hotbar, to no avail. The game would tell me "you can't use this right now," and I didn't know if that was a user error or what but.... Cue: Me entering the House of Hope, rescuing Hope herself, and getting to the exit after running from the infernal rolling stones and using a good chunk of important spell slots on mobility to gtfo. No Ilithid powers, and I've stolen Raphael's precious hammer. So uh, no good graces with him, either. Fight initiates: There's 4 Cambions with like 100hp, 4 soul pillars with 100hp, Yurgir from Act 2 that I snuck past, a few imps, and Raphael with 666hp. Mid-fight I remember "Hey wait a minute, I have that fuck-clobbering bomb, lemme throw that at Raphael and see what happens" I have Karlach yeet it at Raph, and it just lands on the ground, and I go "wtf I thought it would explode on impact". The fight drags on and it feels hopeless. I leave briefly after feeling like it's gonna have to be a reload to go feed my dog. I come back and I have completely forgotten that there is now a runepowder bomb just sitting on the floor. After a turn or two, I do my Elk Rage Stampede move to blitz through a bunch of cambions cause my PC was surrounded. I do it once, blast through some mobs. **I do it one more time, not paying attention, and I stampede directly into the runepowder bomb, and fucking blow up basically the whole room** All that is left is like 2 Cambions and an imp and the two bosses, Yurgir, severely injured, Raphael, still with plenty of health, and 2 of the soul pillars. I somehow manage to survive the blast and only ONE of my companions is downed. From there, used Hope's insane one-time-use-per-adventure ability that basically gives your entire party a long rest mid-fight, and finished his ass. I can't accurately describe just how hard I freaked out at my desk as I frantically recovered and came out triumphant. I love this game.

I had to use both hope AND shadow moons divine intervention to stand a chance. TWO different gods had to step in to help me in that fight because he's so insane. I love the reference to the poem he made when he first met us. It's a great way of giving a sense of finality

This song made me think that I fought the final boss at First. So great

The trumpets in this track are just LEGENDARY.

I was absolutely blown away when this started playing during the fight, reminding me of old-school epic opera or one of the older Disney movies where there was lots of singing to stirr up the drama and highlighting what is happening on screen or how the villains (and battles with them) had epic musical scenes. Unfortunately a mostly lost art.

Talk about setting a stage for the fight you just got into. Everyone else is saying it, but I won’t think it can be said enough about just how amazingly this track frames the fight. Like when it started, I legitimately paused a second and went “I messed up.” Finished with one party member at 2/112, another at 2/88, another at 71/135, and mine at 28/87. Was down to the wire at the end there.

I just got to this fight yesterday. When this song kicked off, and I saw his health, I was legit scared of this dude. I felt more anxiety during this fight than I have in the entire Dark Souls series. Definitely lives up to the hype.

I am still amazed by this whole videogame experience. From the moment you sign the contract, until you open the portal to hell and to finish with this boss fight once the contract is tore in two. The build up that led to this incredible song and one of the hardest fights so far. And having Raphael actually sing along as if he is telling you that you are just a game for him. You really feel like this is the end of your adventure, pure perfection !!! To think this is just a side quest ... what a game

So when i was I was trying to figure out Raphaels motives, there seemed to be an incredibly small chance that Raphael was quietly offering the MC a chance to rule the hells by proxy in exchange for the crown. Raphael would be the face and politician and the MC would be the wrath, judge, and final word. Ended up fanfic but the song still works as a testament of truth to, and the betrayal of, the non existent genuine mutually beneficial offer. Mind. Blown.

10hr version next it’s so good

We just finished this part in our three-player co-op. I had read about this part having excellent "Disney Villain" music, but I didn't know exactly what to expect. We were all amazed when the vocals start, but then for some reason the music was VERY loud that we couldn't even hear each other talking on Discord. It played throughout the boss fight, but we had to turn down the music setting just so we could hear each other talk. House of Hope was one of the best gaming moments we've ever had, including everything leading up to it (my Dragonborn Druid now having experienced Bear, Tentacles, and Devil... I don't think there's much else that would surprise him!) The fight was incredible, but we were playing on Explorer and we quickly surmised what the strategy was by examining the battlefield before doing any action. It also helped that our healer had the special Backlash ability that was *always* available to counter Raphael, so Raphael literally got to do nothing but be stunned as an Owlbear, two Fighters, four ghouls, and two Clerics just beat him down relentlessly. We were a bit miffed about "That was all?" to the fight, but we were on an overdue time limit and it was still satisfying to complete it.

Current Disney could only dream in their wildest dreams of making a Villain 1/10 of Raphael's Caliber , he is a Disney Villain of Old Like the cardinal from Humpback or Scar , by all the gods this song makes me smile with glee every time, it's like playing an old animated movie from the 90s early 2000s, I just can't controll the smile on my face or my desire to sing with Raph :) He is my favorite villain, and Astarion is my favorite Origin char :) Screw the 2 magic boys and the girls with tragic pasts these 2 are the heroes of the game! Dark urge is just a grate alternative for not being able to play as Raphael :)

Just managed to solo (not by choice!!) this encounter on tactician. I knew I was in trouble having lost my party. This song REALLY hammered that home.

Forget Orin and Gortash, *this* was the most challenging fight in the entire game. Karlach was the MVP though, she got two back to back crits in the final half of the fight for me

This is one of them final boss songs that make you feel you REAAAAALLY f'd up and they don't happen almost at all anymore. Was genuinely scared of permadeath here and that's what makes Baldur's Gate 3 so special ❤️

This song is so good and it kicks in so hard. I really felt some fear when the fight first started because this song was really freaking me out.

This scene was a double whammy for me. First off ya get to hekkin SCORCH raphael with the line Haarlep said that's twice as long as it takes to finish you. I was like DAYUMMM as I delivered it, and then the fight kicks off as you get a peek at what you have to deal with and then the game dropped that opener "liveeeeeees..." and my jaw dropped, I froze and just drank in that song for the first round, like legit left it on my turn and just listened. So good! I would have won the first fight but ascended raph dropped that aoe and killed hope and I reloaded cuz I sure as HELL was getting Hope outta there alive! I'd been skating through the game for so long, this was the first win in awhile that I really had to work for, and to have this music as the backdrop, so good.... I will NEVER forget this game or that moment...

This sent me right back to my teens fighting Sephiroth. Then later refined in Advent Children. I had a smile ear to ear when he started singing..

Dude this song was amazing. Suddenly out of nowhere in the game and this music plays....no real music like this up to this point...then you are literally in hell and 'you know who" shows up and he's a fallen Arch "you-know-what" and I'm like....JESUS

so fun fact, if you zoom in on raphaels model, his lips are actually moving. his character is actually singing the song. additionaly, the chorus goes away as kill his cambion entourage

The best part about Raphael boss fight isnt the song, its the fact that optimal way to deal with Ralphael, is... to make him dance ;D Not sure if its the fact i have a lot of DC Spell Save on my cleric, or is it just hardcoded, i had 100% chance for the spell to connect.

I was glad i had about 30 arrows of many targets in this fight. Def more fun than the end game fight.

Won in tactician using both Shadowheart and Hope's divine intervention. This is the battle to pull out EVERY advantage you can muster.

I cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter on him and listening to his evil cackle alot was the icing on the cake that made this fight more epic.

I was busy cleaning and this came on auto play and I did the dishes and cleaned the counter just jammin’ to this…. 21 minutes before I realized what was happening…..great song to go with a great fight.

Raphael was such a very charismatic villain, with his theme song equally so...which is precisely why I had to bring the curtains down on his final act. It wasn't the fact he was a devil, or his numerous temptations towards me and my party, or that he abused many souls under his care...etc...etc. No, nothing as noble and heroic as that. No, it was because he dared to attempt to upstage me. 😏

This fight dwarfs all other fights of the act. When I got to Astarion's daddy, right after finishing the House of Hope, I was like, hey buddy, I am so going to not even sweat for you.

So I did like 3 playthroughs already, and yesterday was the first time I encountered that fight. Was very delighted to find something I didn't find before. Then I saw the battlefield and this music dropped and I was like "....... fuck". To give you an idea of how screwed I was, I was playing on tactician, level 10, party was down to just me, astarion and shadowheart (I was doing a very evil playthrough and I had basically murdered all my other companions and I decided to live with the consequences). A least I was spiteful enough to raphael to decide to rescue hope. Ended up having to nuke the entire place while the party hid under a globe of invulnerability. All I can say is A+, would steal from the devil again.

I play this scene and it was amazing. I had alot of trouble at first so I kept reseting to find what to do. I crit the persuasion, he dealt with most the little guys but was underwhelming cause he ended up killing gale. I used Hope's divine intervention to resurrect him after things started going good. Hope was clutch heals. I was able to spamm the divine intervention on my main to help take him down. The pillars were a must have to beat him

Whoever was involved with this needs a statue made in their name. Solid diamond. Every up and coming sound and gameplay peeps need to be forced to sit at the base of the statues for 6 days and seven nights. Only then may they look upon it with inadequacy and unworthiness.
