Yep, except they didn't. I believe it when I see it. Swen is really a master marketeer - he got people salivating for this while in fact they have been in EA for almost 3 years now (never a good sign), half of the game still never shown to the public. But yeah I'm sure it will be the "bestest" thing ever.

@@Scorpius165 Swen is perfectionist. Even after Larian made DOS1(and it was really good), they spent a lot of time to remade and improve it. For free and even added more story content.

I was in high school when Baldur's Gate came out. I'm 41 now, and still feel the same level of excitement to explore and experience this latest part of the story. It can't come soon enough, and I'm so glad they gave Larian the keys to create it.

I don’t think it’s the matter of DND but lack of actions and TURN BASED . I usually find people complaining about a game that’s TB and saying it’s not fun. I couldn’t get it because I love TB , unfortunately, games that require patience was never their choice.

Being seamless is REALLY important for immersion, I'm really glad you guys made the effort to make it possible. I played almost 1000 hours of the early access over the last years, it's kinda weird how close this game is from release now. I'm actually glad to have played all patches and seen this thing evolving into this great game. Kudos.

***BG3 is a 3.8 out of 5 on GOG and plummeting fast.*** Baldur's Gate 3 is rough and messy and often feels like it is just barely hanging together. Occasionally it falls apart, collapsing under the weight of scripting bugs and graphical glitches, and even gives up completely with numerous hard crashes to desktop. The real price to be paid by the many bugs and glitches is a tariff on the dramatic weight of the conversations and cinematic scenes during which they arise. Tense confrontations are diminished when characters cycle through clearly unfinished animations or the placeholder camera position fails to focus on what's actually happening. Key scenes are undermined when the faltering choreography makes it hard to discern what's at stake. As a result, it's tough to really invest yourself in story development or character dynamics when they're being constantly tripped up

@@leflopjames5628 I cant speak to the performance issues as I had none (Ryzen 7 3800X, RTX 2070S). I did have one glitch where my pc got stuck on the environment but that's all I can remember. Hopefully performance is ironed out for more folks by launch cause the actual content of the game is very fun and it's rare that we get a crpg with this budget and scope nowadays Edit: spelling

@@GomulDart It took years for 1 (one) cm to actually grace the bg3 forums with their presence and even then 95% of time "they couldn't talk about it yet", "I will surely tell the team". It took a lot of people to whine FOR ACTUAL YEARS about react system before it was finally implemented. Lots of other stuff wasn't despite the whining. D/N sequence, meaningful rests, actually class-based gamepleay instead of alpha-strikes, explosive barrels and throw-down-the-mountain, just go and look for threads with most replies. I mean, this "nteraction and listening and BEING PART OF THE ACTUAL COMMUNITY" is total bs. I can't even imagine where this would come from. Cringy shorts on youtube? 1-2 times a year video? WTF? What intercations that person was talking about? If you want to see how actual interaction with community looks, check how Ashes of Creation is being developed.

"It took them years" Yeah, maybe it took awhile to design a new system or redesign current systems, they fucking listened and changed it though. What's the problem exactly? There are lots of other examples too. They don't show us much because they want to avoid spoiling the rest of the game for us. Its that simple. EA is not representative of the final game. The reaction system is the only thing and it took hunderds of us practically designing it for them and years of begging. What a lot of feedback are you talking about? Meaningful long rests sytem instead of spamming lrests left and right? - No. Day / Night system? - No. Even cosmetic one, I don't even mention that tons of rpgs actually have gampleay changes during night. FING PASSAGE OF TIME? - No. Nothing. No house being actually burnt down after like a week of long rests, no quests/events triggered after weeks of game time, nothing. They game is as static as a 10 years old jar of honey. It's stuck in one day. In 2023. Spells, abilities and items being as close to dnd as possible? - No. Have stupid mmorpg-like green/rare items and homebrewed op spells. Even the rule about one non-cantrip spell per turn - throw out of the window. Using actual class kits istead encoureged "funny" cheesy "strats" with alpha-strikes, barrels, surfaces and pushes? - No. You probably won't notice it unless you're familiar with dnd 5, but everything else everyone will notice. It's MID AT BEST right now. But it could be great.

I haven't been as excited to play a game for a decade as I was when I played the early access. It legit made wanna explore every hidden part of the map. See everything there is to see. Do everything there is to do. Fight everyone there is to fight. Open every closed door. It is a true work of love and passion and it will set a standard for other games and perhaps show some people that these shareholder pleasing conveyor belt videogames companies are just ripping them off.

You can feel the love they are pouring into this. Every little bit has been personally touched and thought out and explored by those at larian. The early access feels the same. I have no doubt boulders gate 3 is the next new standard for gaming.

Larian aren't perfect. They really need to lower the difficulty on Easy mode. The easiest difficulty on Divinity original sin 2 was still really frustrating and really took the fun out of the game for me which was a shame

Considering the whole plot of Baldurs gate 1 and 2 was all around bhaal.. it aint far fetched to say it very close to one considering every other ennemies they could have went for.

What we have of Lower City is incredible. I do really wish we could explore the Upper City as well. :( I'm guessing it was maybe cut for performance reasons? But there seems to also be a lot of story that was cut with it which is a shame.

I played the original BG1&2 when they first came out. It really makes me happy to see a fan like Sven lead a great team like Larian to make this game. I am sure it is tremendously hard and wont be perfect, but it will be a masterpiece. Thanks team!

It's a funny detail and not a real criticism, but it was funny when the writer said that they prioritized believability at 0:42, and the next second there was a huge ship going full-tilt under a bridge that would 100% break its spars =) Again not something even remotely related to whether the game or city is good, just a funny detail.

When me and my son were playing the first sin game one thing that has stuck with us ever since is how real and amount of depth in the first main area, city of cyseal. The characters, the design, the dialogue, everything. That area alone was a 10/10 experience for me and I replayed the game countless times and that area never ever felt repetitive, in fact most often I'd always discover something new

I've already started designing my new character ~4 months before its released because I know it'll take me that long to make a choice. And even then I'll still end up spending 2 hours in character creation page.

I used to love the vibe of walking through Athalka in BG2. in recent years I liked how Witcher 3 handled the bigger cities. lots of space, quests and random activities but it was way less dark and surprising than how the BG franchises would build their cities. Can't wait to walk through Baldur's Gate and explore it all revamped and "seamless".

I played a solid 200-300 hours of D4. And all this weekend ive been playing BG3. D4 feels like trash after playing BG3

@@KaratePath BG 3 is after story of.... D4 is of playing with friends and not much on story. BG 3 takes about 100 hrs to beat the story of the game while D4 about 15 hrs. That shift of the 2, shows to a gamer something extends a game while the other, is quick fast and over b4 you know it. Enters in grind fest of instead of 1 chain lightening multiples instead if you grind or instead of a bone golem grind a bit and have an iron golem. Same crap just improved aka same formula rinse and repeated. BG 3, ever growing formula. Always changing and turning into something different = incredible gaming to be had for a gamer to enjoy of surprises after surprises. Constant branching out. D4 not built for that purpose built for friend play, grinding together, builds of same crap just improved versions etc...

This looks incredible - I can't wait for this game to come already! I'm a HUGE Baldur's Gate (and DND) fan since my childhood - when the first game came out!! Played BG1, BG2 and ToB hot seat together with my brother. Absolutely loved DOS2 in Couch Coop! Miss it so much. I want to Couch COOP Baldur's Gate 3 with my brother on PS5 !!! Honestly though, Baldur's Gate was never about the city itself. It's just the name of the first game. The highlights were everything around it: the amazing nature and art, fascinating locations, the exploration, the characters, the adventures, the small and large stories.

I am so ready for this. Two years of playing the Early Access release has got me all hyped! If I could time travel back to 2003 and tell myself (who was playing Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance on the GameCube back then) that I would get obsessed with the Baldur's Gate games and everything D&D related, I wouldn't believe myself. I don't mean to nitpick, but really it's technically been 25 years since fans have visited the city of Baldur's Gate properly. For me, it's been 13 years, I got into D&D because of the Enhanced Edition version of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.

It looks very exciting but I'm extremely concerned about performance when I see that. The early access still has pretty wonky optimization to this day and has much much much simpler environments with way less NPCs. It will be amazing if it runs smoothly but I feel it will require crazy hardware to do so. Time will tell I guess.

The Early Access had literally 0% optimization lol. The Memory Leaks were very common.

They purposefully avoided doing a lot of optimization work on EA. Optimization is generally saved for last, as it is dependent on everything else. It wouldn't make sense for them to keep going back to optimize a build of the game that a) is being constantly updated, requiring even more optimization after every update and b) a build that isn't even the 'main branch' of development. It makes sense for them to save most of those efforts for the final build of the game, when all the pieces are in place. Obviously SOME optimization is always done, to ensure its playable. Optimize as you go, sort of thing. but again most of the focus on optimization comes near the end of development.

@1:25 Those 3rd person camera angles look improved to me. I can't wait to play on controller and walk around like a traditional 3rd person game but with the tactical view during combat, will be amazing! Best of both worlds

In most of the game the socalled city actually is a town. The Arx in DOS2 is way too small. I hope BG3 can make a truly difference.

I feel like when I get my way to Baldur's Gate I going be stuck just outside for a few hours just admiring the city and talking to even single NPC and animal I can find. The level design is just chef kiss of pure passion and art.

I thought I might lose interest since early access came out so long ago, but not at all still very excited. I'm always amazed at the dedication Larian has to take on such a huge project and continue to fill it with passion and a high quality after such a long dev cycle.

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."- Shigeru Miyamoto. I'd rather a game take ages in development and get delayed so they can make it great than it being rushed out, released and being a complete disaster. We've had too many cases of the latter lately and so many studios never seem to learn either from their own mistakes or from the mistakes of others. Glad Larian looked around, saw the mistakes CDPR, Activision-Blizzard (joke of the decade), EA, Gearbox (I'll never forgive Randy Pitchford for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Worst game of the last decade, in my opinion), Squeenix (The EA of Japan) and all others not mentioned were making by releasing an unfinished mess and said that they were going to delay the release instead.
