That's really cool! We have a guy, that attends a gathering near by. He has a steam driven, table top bailer. He sells the tiny 5x7 inch straw bales, for $5 each

67kneil That mower has been great. It's not one of the disposable ones and my first self propelled. I had no idea how easy a push mower could be.

If the grass is a bit wet yet, do like we do on the farm and salt it. Sprinkle some salt in while you are loading and a bit over the bale when done. I do remember as a teen my dad showing me that trick. I worked on another farm and the farmer when on vacation, leaving his newly son-in-law in charge and to bale second cutting in July, well it ended up raining and the hay got wet. I told him to wait a day or two longer and go out and roll the windrows. But I was just some dumb teenager farm hand. We ended up putting up about 1000 or 1200 bales and I told him we better salt it! Of course I got the look of what are you crazy as he said he never heard of that before. I said hope you don't burn the barn down! I called Joe who he, the wife and a couple of their kids had gone to Cancun Mexico and told him what his golden child son-in-law did and he said WHAT? The weekend came and I'm out with my friends on our atv's when my dad came and found us and said get back to the house and call Joe. When I did, he said get here fast and bring my friends as the barn was about to go up in flames! 15 mins later we got there and the steam was pouring out of the barn like a sauna. It was HOT! We were trying to get all of the equipment out and finally you could smell smoke. It got to hot to get everything out and the fire dept was on the way. Meanwhile Joe had his dip shit son-in-law with a few other neighbors using some tractors and skid steers to pull the wet hay out and spread it out. Thankfully he didn't keep any livestock in that barn... just hay, straw and equipment. Yep, it went up in flames! Despite the fire dept got there quick and sprayed water on the sides, roof and shooting it inside here and there, the core was just to hot and hard to get to the center, which is why the barn and everything in it was a total loss.

@trackerbuckmann16279 жыл бұрын
If you framed it out of steel and used a hydraulic cylinder to push it you could make a pretty solid aluminum building block. Just use the pump on a log splitter to power it.

My biggest concern is letting the clippings dry a bit before baling them.
@bc659252 ай бұрын
That is important, and you can stack the bales so that air circulates around them also.

Howdie they say if ya cut hay with lawnmower your rabbits will die cause of the heat that the blade throws off it molds the Hay and rabbits happy later bleed red pea its true in Canada 🇨🇦 SK so l,ve been told great idea but wood not cut it this way l use weedwacker to cut my hay grass what ever and so far they have not died just saying thks again for sharing your project with us keep them coming ya got
@bc659259 ай бұрын
Don't have rabbits, never had rabbits, quite probably never will have rabbits so I'm not sure. Guess I'll leave that up to the rabbit folks but I will say if you let grass dry properly like hay that's cut with the same kind of blade it probably has no chance of growing any mold, unless stored improperly. (Don't have the baler any more either, a rabbit person has it now.)

I know, I was plat on making one and selling bales in my spare time. Some as hay, some straw. Either as decor or for people who maybe have rabbits, hamsters, or other animals that are tiny that need straw or eat hay. I mean the local hobby lobby sells mini staw bales for $20. I don't see why I wouldn't be able to sell them just a tad smaller...but realistically the same size because more compact for maybe $5-10
