The myth of Ramayana told through the medium of traditional Balinese shadow puppet theater with use of modern media and innovations- including using a projector instead of oil lamp, human puppets, 'wayang listrik' and skateboarding across the stage to maximize the mobility of the puppeteers. Over 50 puppeteers, dancers and musicians came together for this performance.
Led by dalang (puppet master) Made Sidia, who is also an accomplished topeng (mask) dancer, choreographer, gamelan musician and teacher. A passionate advocate for merging traditional and contemporary arts practices, Made Sidia is an expert in contemporary wayang kulit, and his contribution to Balinese culture has been recognized worldwide. The pioneer of these specific Balinese shadow and lighting techniques was actually Larry Reed in 1990. He was a direct influence on Made Sidia. He should receive credit.

But of course Ramayana is not a myth. I'm Balinese. A pity the world is so fond of narrative, especially Harvard.
