Ghanaians are not ashamed to show their ignorance. He made a sound of one musical genre in Nigeria, then, made another sound, and said that's Ghanaian. He doesn't know that the first sound is a typical Yoruba rhythm, and the other also exists in other parts of Nigeria as Ogene, Okanga, Ekobe, etc.

This just goes to show that Ghanaians are heavy on hip-hop. They are more into hip-hop than Afrobeats. It's so obvious that Afrobeats is new to them. The five biggest artists in Ghana they all do Rap, Reggea, and Dancehall. Sakodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Saminie, Medikal, and the whole gang. This is why they are struggling to grasp the concept of Afrobeats. There are very few hits from Ghana that are Afrobeats, and those hits songs are all produced by Nigerians, and they all sound Nigerian, from their tonality to the beats.

Yes, you’re right. From Camidoh, Kelyvn Boy, Olive the Boy, etc. If Highlife was to be accepted by the generation, it will force all our big artists - E.L, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale etc to do highlife. It’s already in them. Listen to Sarkodie’s joint album with Akwaboah “Mary.” Listen to E.L’s highlife songs. King Promise. Highlife is already in them. We need to push our Highlife music more.

@megadonmaster Nigerians also did Highlife, too. Goings way back to the 50's. Google Nigerian Highlife, and you will hear unique sounds from Nigeria. The problem is that Ghanians have a biased sense of history. Highlife is a Western African genre. What is Highlife without the guitar and saxophone? Did Ghana invented guitar and saxophone ? In the 1959s, Western African countries entertained their colonial masters along the coastal cities---from Lagos to Freetown. These colonial masters brought electric guitar and steel bands from Trinidad. This was how Highlife came about. There were many Ghanians musicians in Nigeria, just as Nigerians were in Ghana and other coastal cities of Western Africa countries playing gigs. No one sat down and said, "ummmm .... let's invent a genre called Highlife. NO. It was then referred to as Western music style because they use it to entertain white people. The only one person that sat down to create a new genre was Fela Kuti. He invented the genre called Afrobeat, where Afrobeats emanated from. Ebo Taylor, a friend of Fela, told us in multiple interviews.

Afrobeat is Nigeria even though it has a little bit of high life in it but that doesn't charge the fact that is from Nigeria so we Ghanaians needs to focus on highlife and rebrand so it can go to international is more like Ghana music dont have identity

Ghanaian producers are experts in the classroom when talking about music but get lost in the STUDIO. IN one breath they say Ghana taught Nigeria music and in another breath, they keep complaining that THEIR ARTISTS ARE NOW SOUNDING LIKE NIGERIANS. CONFUSION IS GHANAIAN 😂😂😂😂

GHANA, GHANA, GHANA. I wish Ghanaians would do a survey about their artists in other African countries and see how popular they. 0% FAME. If Ghana truly created Afrobeat and gave it to Nigeria then how come NONE OF THEIR MUSIC SOUNDS LIKE NIGERIAN MUSIC. NIGERIA IS FAR FAR FAR GONE. Ghana should please call their music HIGHLIFE, SKYLIFE, AIRLIFE, WILDLIFE 😂😂 The world justs loves the BEATS coming out of NIGERIA. THEY LOOOOVE IT. GHANA INVENTED EVERYTHING AND CAN'T SUCCEED IN ANYTHING MUSIC.

How do u know Mali don't claim Highlife? They speak french and u dont follow what is going on in their media space . Highlife is played in almost all the west african country along the coastline. If we want to break it down sef highlife is not Ghanaian. It came from d carribiens or is it west indies now..... Every west african country can lay claim to highlife abeg. Mali, togo, benin hasnt even developed to be fighting for recognition on Apple music soooo....

I believe most African countries have their own interpretation of the pop sound . Where they fuse their traditional drums with Hiphop. In SA it is called Kwaito, Ghana is hiplife. ours used to be called Naija beats or Naija pop which then transitioned to Afrobeats. If for anything, u guys should even be calling ur music hiplife not highlife. Cos ur guys popping haven't been playing pure highlife. Except u guys don't want to be seen as pushing 'reggierockstone's genre'. Ghana pop sef is not bad or u claim Afrobeats with ur full chest and join in the propagation. Cos Naija never left Ghana out of the conversation. You guys just want some kind of special recognition n our population no gree una. Best believe if Zambia pop , Seychelles pop or even capeverde pop (i am sure they have their respective names for it) becomes a big thing tomorrow , that will be d next vacation spot. They will fuse it with naija beats and bring out something the same thing they r doing with amanpiano now..... That national credit u r waiting for, u go wait oooooo

Pls when Olele talks about receiving credit, who is suppose to give the credits is it Joey Akan, twitter trolls and warriors or the conductor on the street vibing to Olamide? Cos to the best of my knowledge even in d Afrobeats documentary Ghanaians were acknowledged and credited for the highlife contribution. Our industry guys (at least the people that were there at the very beginning) always acknowledge Ghana in interviews. Are we suppose to line up as a people and hail u guys young and old abi what is all this whining? U better move on . Even the highlife conversation, people are already taking it international. Saw it been called afro indie the other day. Real highlife sounds o. Not someone claiming highlife but playing drill or hiphop. Then u resume another round of wailing!!! It is well o

Ignorance! The five pattern beat referred to its part and culturally part of Yoruba rythm and drum from time immemorial. In ogboni or osugbo cult that has survived centuries, that five pattern beat remain the core foundation of the rituals of drumming. The oldest kingdom in Ghana of Asante region was founded just in 1650, while Lagos royal houses, Otta Awori kingdom founded in 1550`s. Not to mention Ile Ife that has been existing over 2,000 years. Even 3 tribes, that is part of ghanian nation today, which are the Gaa, Ewe and mangalogo of Ghana immigrated from Nigeria. So their argument is flawed. The problem with ghanians is that they are ignorantly looking at Nigeria through the lense of their Accra and Kumasi lenses. Ghanians need to study.... read. The five pattern beat is not ghanians, it's a traditional beats of the indigenous people of the Yorubas and Nigeria. Education is key... knowledge is power.... C real .... God bless

It’s not accurate that Ball J is the one who did the 1st pidgin rap, it was rather Eddie Blay and his squad, NFL ( Native Funk Lords) were the ones who did the 1st proper pidgin rap song. They were the ones who tried to push the pidgin rap thing.

But the NIGERIAN afrobeats documentary credited Ghana. But GH drill, Highlife already recognized by Grammys. GH, NIGERIAN trolls such as myself won't validate you. The NIGERIAN establishment and the international community have already validated you. GH the NIGERIAN street won't kowtow. So if what you want is adulation in comment sections you ain't gonna get it. Be satisfied with the higher order validation you have o
