Great info, thanks for the effort you put into your videos. If i may make a couple of suggestions for future content: 1 Dont stand in front of a window, you re always backlit and the tank is almost non existent. Get a couple of your Leds, get the table to the opposite corner of the room and ler the cameraman stand in front of the window, facing you and the action. 2 tank lights on! i see you did it on the beardie setup, and its literally night to day! 3 camera needs to.be closer to you and the tank, we all want to see you work and tweak and rearrange the elements in the tank, again, better job with the beardie vid. In summary, great content, you just need to let it shine, as much as we all love that white cabinet 😆cheers

Hello! Fantastic! My BP just turned 1 year and I had plans to switch him to a PVC enclosure, from the tub he's in right now. I just stumbled across this yesterday doing some more research into options. I subbed immediately. I'm so impressed with this! I want to change my snake over immediately, but you don't ship to Canada. Sad days :(

I have been in love with snakes since I could remember. My parents were super scared of them so I was never able to keep one as a child. I'm about to move into my own apartment, and my landlord is allowing me to obtain a ball python. I was excited but scared because I have never owned a snake before and I want it to be healthy. Your video just made me super confident to 1. Take care of my snake, and 2. How to make sure it is comfortable. Thank you so much. Btw: most of my animals are named after pokemon, so of course I will name him/her Ekans.

Thank you so much! I found someone to make a custom breeder size cage for me and I have some really cool ideas for the inside. I think it would be great to do a regular feature on this channel on different people's Ball Python set-ups with regular follow-ups. Although I see some people posting here and there that they're starting to do theirs this way I really haven't seen many doing videos and those that do usually only show the initial set-up at the very beginning; not 6 months, a year, or two years later. I have a gut feeling that this might be the wave of the future, and there could be some very important data to be gleaned by people documenting their progress and their snake's behavior.

Yes, I'm getting another snake soon to breed to my female in the future, so this would really be helpful. I hope everything's OK. I want to design a pond in my enclosure too so that the snake can soak when it wants to. I'd like to get one of those liners that people use in outdoor ponds but not near as big. Not sure if pond supply places make them the size for a reptile cage or if I'm going to have to look for someone to do a custom one of those too. I'm thinking they probably make a mold and pour the shell into it. It would be great if Josh sold those in his store!

Iv'e been researching ball python and bearded dragon cage setups for awhile now and your whole concept and company is AMAZING. I'm going to purchase bioactive kits from your website for sure! I have one question though. What happens when you upgrade cages? Can you transfer over the BioActivity from the smaller vivitarium, but just add the more soil, biodegradable, and plants to make it the right quantity? Or do you really have to buy a whole other BioActive Kit which costs some money?
@Supakuri
@Supakuri 7 жыл бұрын
Also, does buying more isopods and springtails including the the 2 tubs you get in the BioActivity make the process of getting the ecosystem ready faster? And how long does the biodegradable leaves last before having to add more? Thnx.
@johnvazquez1405
@johnvazquez1405 7 жыл бұрын
You can most definetly transfer, he's done it in newer videos. You do not need to buy a whole new kit, just extra bags of substrate and more plants if you so desire. As of the biodegradables, you would add more if I remember correctly about every six months (perhaps even more) depending on how quickly it gets broken down by the springtail and isopod cultures. To get a much better and more reliable response, e-mail Josh, just visit the website and e-mail him

if the substrate is 3-4 inches, how would that affect the under tank heater? if its that high of substrate, does the heater have to be stuck on the side?
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter 6 жыл бұрын
Joey I like to place them on the side. There is some thought that it messes with digestion but belly heat and reptiles is a myth, reptiles thermoregualte through ambient heat, not surface, so putting it on the side does help when you have a deep layer of substrate

@zakarymcleod1850

From what I’ve been told and what I’ve seen online, you need a ton of hiding spaces everywhere and not a lot of open area if you want to put a baby ball in a large setup. Large setups can stress them out quite a lot if they feel exposed, but if you can make them feel cozy it’ll be fine.

Have a couple of questions. One: Can I feed my ball python a dead rat in an bioactive tank even though the Springtails will try to feast on the dead rat, or should I feed my BP in a separate container? Question two: Can you do a video of a bioactive blood python setup? I know Bloods like their humidity around 75-80 percent, so I wouldn't be sure wich Terra Substrate to get when I finally decide to get a blood.
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Chrishasaclue, I know that on numerous forums etc they say to never pull the BP from the enclosure to eat it. I have fed my corns, hog, kenyan etc all FT with no issues with my systems. As for the blood I can in the future. I will be doing a few different videos for your larger species as your approach is much different when it comes to larger reptiles. I would use the Firma for a Blood, but you would need a deep layer, at least 8" (which is what they like anyway from my experiences).
@chrishasaclue
@chrishasaclue 7 жыл бұрын
Yea... The Firma would probrably be a better option. Bloods like moisture, but would probrably get scale rott if they are constantly on wet bedding. As you know, bloods aren't as forgiving with mistakes and errors as something like a Ball or an Angolan python is.... thanks for the heads up.
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter 7 жыл бұрын
Your welcome. One thing to keep in mind with the Firma. It will almost always stay dry on the top, but retain moisture in the middle and bottom layers while aerating properly. This is important when it comes to your sedentary snakes that do not move around much. : )

Safe to say I quit the Facebook group they was power hungry on nice to see someone with more knowledge than him making him look like nervous school boy 😂
