Palm Stains only make a glove look better but it takes a long time to develop a good natural stain. So I figured out a way to get the used look on a not so used glove. This one is for the glove nerds!

Maybe I'm just old school but think it should be done with actually purposeful use instead of short cuts lol. Most palm stains are from the palm adhesive on the inside of the glove on the felt that leak through the leather. Easiest way to stain it is heat up a sock filled with dry rice in the microwave for 90-120 seconds take the sock put it in the pocket wrap with a dish towel and placed in a cooler and leave the cooler cracked to let the steam/moisture out you can add other rice socks in there if you want and let it sit for a few hours. I use this method (from Dave Wagner at Wagner Baseball Glove Repair) to break in tough gloves and mitts. Much safer to the leather and especially the laces. Steaming dries out and kills the laces.

I love baseball and your videos. I’m subscribed and have watched nearly all of them. As a youth player and I think many kids watch your content as well. My whole 10u travel team watch your videos. I was thinking you might be able to do a video on the best youth gloves. You could have 10 year old kids try gloves out like an A2000, A2K, Heart of the Hide, Gold Glove Elite, the 44 youth model, and a Nokona glove. Thank you so much for creating all these great videos.

I put pine tar on my glove hand (to not slip out and have better grip on bigger gloves) and they overall develop really nice patina, and it’s pine tar. So it’s always around baseball. The stains look nice and natural too.

I’m confused. Respectfully. So for breaking in our gloves, we should take our time in order to not botch the process. If I’m not mistaken, palm stains are a natural effect of the palm adhesive seeping through the leather via the ball constantly being pressed into the leather through the natural process of catch. So wouldn’t this method (especially the dirty ball) do more harm to the leather than good? Shouldn’t the stain come naturally much like the actual break in?

Hey man, great video. I was wondering what you would say would be the most comfortable glove for someone with fairly large hands. I am 6'3, and I am looking for a glove to pitch with, but I want one that is comfortable and is also great to field with as well. If it is an infielders model, I can always customize it and put a pitcher's web on it.
@rowanandersen4284

personal experience being a kid that is also 6’3 i have always liked something from 12-12.5. rawlings makes comfortable gloves from my experience. just ordered a 44 japan select in 12 with a 2 piece closed and will let you know how it feels as someone with larger hands just my opinion though
@DerInselaffe
@DerInselaffe Жыл бұрын
@@rowanandersen4284 I love the Japan Select. I have much smaller hands and short little fingers (think of a giant child hand) and it works great going two in the pinky. Can't use it traditional though but can see it would work great for those with big hands. It's nice and shallow so great for a middle infielder like me but there's space in there to conceal the ball when pitching. With a closed web I can see it making a very good pitcher's glove for someone who likes to field properly.
@akaredcrossbow
@akaredcrossbow Жыл бұрын
Wilson gloves for me seem very small, especially the finger stalls, very tight. I really like Rawlings, seem true to size, and the finger stalls are a bit on the larger side, but you get used to it. Rawlings are much easier to break in, less frustration. To break in a Wilson you definitely have to do the hot water treatment, start breaking in, then Wilson conditioner after it dries. Hot water has never touched any of my Rawlings gloves, I just use Wilson conditioner on them, let it soak up and start breaking in. Also with Rawlings you can get a custom glove almost game ready factory break in.

Hello, I would like you to give me some advice to buy my next glove. Now I play much more slow softball than baseball, and I have a Rawlings HOH Hyper Shell (sz: 11.5 patt:. 200) that I really like, but I would like to buy one 44 brand and I see that you have experience with these I am undecided between EX10 and PRO44, but I would like you to recommend me which would suit me better and what size (11.75 will be enough?) taking into account that it will be for playing softball and that I would like to have a performance similar to the Rawlings that I use for baseball . I usually play SS and 2B. I have seen a video of you where you show a 44 with the American flag logo, and you even include it in your top 5, I suppose this model would work for me since I see that you play mid infield too, but I'm not sure which one is. I await your comment to order it. I already have it fully customized lolol Thank you very much in advance.

Hey man, food for thought! I had a wilson walmart glove that I forgot about 10 years ago outside behind my garage. Just got back into baseball and found that thing, just let it dry naturally in a well ventilated area, oiled it with boot conditioner/protector and let it sit for I think 2 days to just let the stuff soak in. Than I gently played catch with it for a day or 2 and she was back to how I remembered! Take it slow and good find 😁

Looking for advice on how best to store a new A2000 glove for 3 years until my grandson is big enough to use it. Should I condition the glove or leave as is from the factory? Put the glove in a protective bag & what kind or leave in the open? And any other advice everyone thinks would best preserve the glove until he ready to usr it. TIA for the help.
@imn8
@imn8 11 ай бұрын
Lucky grandson! That high quality leather is so resilient that almost nothing you can do would keep it from still looking brand new in 3 years, short of leaving it out in the elements year-round. The leather is already well-conditioned from the factory, so you don't need to do anything to it now. You could give it a bit of conditioner 3 years from now, but honestly it probably won't be needed at all until he's used it quite a bit. I bought a used Wilson A2000 on ebay 2 years ago. It was an old model that had barely been used, and apparently just sitting in somebody's garage in Texas. I found the date code, looked it up, and discovered it was from 1992. It's over 30 years old now, seriously neglected, and the leather just feels awesome!
