The name Balpakram the 'Ram' at the end does not specify the Ram of Ramayan Mythology. It's a simple linguistic style such as "dongram" which means a place to stay or "saliram" which means West in Garo language. Balpakram as such "Balpak" meaning to 'get blown away' so in translation it means 'a place where something gets blown away to'. According to Garo mythology Balpakram is a place where the spirits go to in the after life hence the name.

Its good to know what kinds of species are there.. We garo people should take the opportunity to research about the flora and fauna of balpakram.. and to safeguard the wildlife.. Not only balpakram there were other undiscovered place are there in garo hills..

Salute for this great work in Balpakram. I always wished for this kind of initiative and works to be taken up in BNP and also in NNP for protection flora and fauna and at the same time save the catchment areas all over Garo Hills. I see that you have travelled deep into BNP jungle like Deoban, Kundulgop, Bija Dare area etc. Perhaps you have taken video cameras to where no video camera has ever gone before. I wish we could keep Camera traps / trail cams but we could not afford it. If ever, me and my team can be of any small help in these kind of Conservation works, please feel free to contact us.
