അമേരിക്കയിലെ Baltimore ship ആക്‌സിഡന്റ് നെ പറ്റി ഞാൻ മുമ്പ് ചെയ്ത വീഡിയോ നിങ്ങളിൽ പലരും കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടാവും. 20 ഇന്ത്യക്കാരായ കപ്പൽ ജോലിക്കാർ ഇപ്പോഴും അവിടെ ഏതാണ്ട് തടങ്കലിൽ പോലെ ആണ്. ഒരു വലിയ പാലം ഇടിച്ചു പൊളിക്കുകയും 6 പേര് മരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത, അമേരിക്കയെ ഞെട്ടിച്ച അപകടമായിരുന്നല്ലോ. അതിന്റെ സംഭവങ്ങൾ വിശദീകരിച്ചതല്ലാതെ ശരിക്കും ആക്‌സിഡന്റ് എന്ത് കൊണ്ടാണ് ഉണ്ടായത് എന്നുള്ളത് അന്ന് അറിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. എന്റെ പരിമിത മായ അറിവ് വച്ചുള്ള കുറച്ചു ഊഹങ്ങൾ പങ്ക് വച്ചിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ഇപ്പോൾ അമേരിക്കയിലെ National Transportation Safety Board -NTSB എന്ന അന്വേഷണ ഏജൻസി ആക്‌സിഡന്റ് അന്വേഷിച്ചു അവരുടെ പ്രാരംഭ റിപ്പോർട്ട്‌ പുറത്ത് വീട്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. അതിൽ ആക്‌സിഡന്റ്ലേക്ക് നയിച്ച കാരണങ്ങൾ ഏതാണ്ട് വ്യക്തമാണ്. അപ്പൊ എങ്ങനെ ഈ സംഭവങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായി എന്നതിന്റെ വ്യക്തമായ വിശദീകരണം നോക്കാം.

നല്ല അവതരണം . പൊതുവേ BOW THURSTER start ചെയ്യുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് 30 minutes Bow thurster notice engineers nuകൊടുക്കും. bow thurster nu കൂടുതൽ പവർ ആവശ്യമാണ്. അതിനായി ഒരു ജനറേറ്റർ കൂടി സ്റ്റാർട്ട് ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും. ഇത് സ്റ്റാർട്ട് ചെയ്ത് ലോഡ് എടുക്കാൻ ഉള്ള ടൈം ആണ് ഈ 30 മിനിറ്റ്. കൂടാതെ bow thurster hydraulic oil controlled ആണ് .pitch change നടക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി ലോ വോൾട്ടേജ് supply il ഓടുന്ന hydraulic പമ്പുകളും നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഈ കാര്യങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ടായിരിക്കും Bow thurster സ്റ്റാർട്ട് ചെയ്യാത്തത്.

Bow thruster usually needs at least 3 or 4 generators on load to start. There's usually an interlock that prevents Bow thruster motor breaker from being closed until sufficient no of generators are on load.

Well explained. I am a sailing Captain. What I understood from the video is NTSB has released their preliminary report. More root cause analysis is required to find out what caused the breakers to go offload, what tripped the No. 3 DG, whether jobs according to Planned Maintenance System was being followed, availability of spares and consumables for the routine maintenance, whether any cost cutting was involved in the supply of spares and stores, what was the quoted budget by the management company and the owners, etc. etc..... A vast root cause analysis is required. I hope these will be addressed in the NTSB final report. In the near future, we can expect some amendments in the regulations like SOLAS, OPA 90, ISM Code, etc.

Well explained brother ❤️, tie breaker Link btw main circuit breaker and emergency circuit breaker. For safety reasons, if the main generator supplies power to MCB and ECB, the emergency generator breaker ll be in Open condition and vice versa. If the contractor has a carbon deposit then, there is a possibility for power failure. I have only limited knowledge on electrical.

Bow thrusters usually require at least 2 or sometimes 3 generators running to to provide enough power because Container Ships like these have lots of refer Containers which also require power. I have worked in ships where all the generators have to be run to meet the load requirements of Bow Thrusters, refers and the Main Engine
