I'm surprised the hot glue held that well and appreciate the "drop test" (haha). Using bamboo and trash bag was great for strength and lightness!

I love your glue gun. Much quicker and neater than folding flaps over and using sticky tape. Lighter too!

i use plastic drinking straws with the least amount of hot glue. it makes everything uniform and works quite well. the more cells the kite has the better stability.

Does it fly well?

Immpressed with your Bamboo splitting skills, i have been making and flying kites since i was a schoolboy (= a very long time !!) and i have never had much success splitting Bamboo, just give up and buy dowel from DIY stores ! Two points about this kite, if you made the outside edges twice as long ( one piece ) it would be stronger and a little lighter and weight is always the number enemy flying a kite, after all you are trying defeat gravity ! secondly make this kite twice as large, or even three times as large, the bigger the kite the less 'skittish' and more stable it is in the sky, plus the lifting surface area to structural weight ratio is better, back to defying gravity again ! If storaage of a large kite of this type is a problem with a little ingenuity it could be constructed with a detachable top cross spar and 'hinges' (parrallel spars and cotton binding?) along the bottom of each triangular cell enabling it to be folded flat.
