I have both species and do u know ruffly how much they can grow in a 6 month period at a youngish age like 6m to a y old

@@justinwilson3922 I think Bamboo Shrimp can max out in size within 6 months but Vampire Shrimp are slow growers and they only molt once every few months so I'm not exactly sure.

@@shrimplycanadian really no way bamboo shrimp grow that fast so your telling me if they get to 6 inches long they grow a inch per month

@@shrimplycanadian and I got my bamboo shrimp at about an inch last year in September I think and now it could be about 1.75 inches

@@justinwilson3922 Bamboo Shrimp only get to about 3 - 4 inches. By the time we purchase them, there's no telling how old they are as they're wild caught 99% of the time. I'm not 100% sure how fast their growth rate really is because they also only molt every 1 - 2 months.

So far I am the only person to successfully get vampire shrimp past the larval stage in captivity and the only person to photographically document a berried bamboo. I plan to work with more Atya and Atopsis species in the near future.

A lot of people have bred bamboo shrimp and have taken photos of them being pregnant and also poeple have bred vampire shrimp it's just extremely hard to get them past the larval stage, there is someone who attempted it and did it but wasn't able to find a affective way yet. Apparently pets at home by me get there vampire shrimp from some who breeds them but I didn't belive them and told them to tell the person to share how

A breeder in Germany bred bamboos back in 2016 and I believe some Russian guy also managed to as well

@tinteex9130 I haven't no I have a heavily planted tank with a lot of rocks and wood done in a way to make lots of caves and hiding places aswell as some leaves for them to hide amd eat it's mainly for shrimp I had 6 wood shrimp and then a wile later got 4 giant african shrimp aswell as cherry shrimp and 10 amanos I use a substrate that's buffed for plants think about 15 types of plants and I never really saw my african shrimp but when I did see them I loved them so got 2 more aha but one day 2 of them was berried but so I looked into it heavily and found that it's too hard and that only so many people have managed to breed them and were only able to get some to suvive Iv been folloing a forum where someone is trying to do this with the amano method but nothing yet if you Google breeding giant african vampire shrimp I'm sure your find it there's a lot of details people are trying like salinity ph and so that would help if u are going to try it and if u do please add to them cos very little is known about them and if u don't have them I recommend them I love seeing them climing and pushing throw the plants and so on they get along grate with all my shrimp even my dwarf pleco they told me in my pet shop they can can eat cheery shrimp but I don't belive them there mouth parts can't eat that kind of good I saw one of mine eating a bloodworm for half an hour and it had eaten nothing of it pretty much and gave up aha

I have both in a community tank, they are growing well. The vampires, despite being nocturnal, are active and feeding through the day.

Love the fact u said bacter ae wonderful stuff and iv got both bamboo and vampire with my cherry and amano also my pet at home told me they will eat your cherry shrimo they wont theres mouths parts can eat them iv watched one eat a blood worm for 15 minutes and she made no different to it and also my pets at home say they get there vampire shrimp from a breeder but didn't believe them and told them to tell the breeder to share how also told them to get bacter ae cos there vampire and wood shrimp are not being fed well

I have a 30g tank one small raphael one small two spot and 6 glass catfish live there i hava 4 caves some plants and outside filter that produses some curent. I want to ceap obe vampire shrimp there but im not shure if my tank is good enouth . I would appreciate some advice

I'm not sure what you mean by "one small raphael one small two spot" but in a 30 gallon, the Vampire Shrimp should do fine in there. I have a 55 gallon with 5 of them and 6 Bamboo Shrimp with various fish. They are not very active shrimp as they tend to stay close to whatever they make their home.
