@@thewarrior8380 Yeah, he did. Although he almost destroyed him in the first round though. But the persistant leg kicks did the trick. And he'd never gone up against a resilient Muay Thai fighter before aswell, that's why. A new style that he didn't know how to handle in the later rounds.

I think it's cool to see how different styles play out against each other: Rick Roufus was vurnurable to lowkicks and got defeated by Changpuek-Ernesto Hoost with his superb low kick defence put Changpuek away-but he was defeated by Roufus insane kicks and Manson Gibson was defeated twice by Rick via decision but knocked out Chang with a devastating livershot... Suprisingly he also did very well against Hoost(who should have held an advantage as Gibsons stance and kicks should have made him a sucker for lowkicks) because he countered Hoosts kicks with his superb spinning-backfist...

I'm an avid boxing fan, and over the past couple of years began to delve into MMA and other combat sports (the first MMA fight I ever saw was the outstanding Aldo/Faber WEC fight), and this is the first time I've ever heard of Rick Roufus. What an athlete, and what a fighter. By far one of the best to ever do in the business, as far as my eyes are concerned. And his true fighter's mentality is the icing on the cake. *I wanna beat the best and I wanna be the best, and to do that, you gotta fight the best.* They just don't make 'em like that anymore. He grew up in an era of straight up warriors.

If he had, he'd have been running/skidding around the ring and rolling on the mat worse than the kiatsongrit fight. Of course, we know kicking someone in the leg takes no talent, and ricks spinning shit shows the real talent

Good comment. I agree. I miss kickboxing So Much. MMA just simply isn't better. It's worse,and mainly because of the flawed rules and crude uncoordinated ungraceful styles that Most have. Two rules that I would change in MMA would be, go to neutral corner after knocking an opponent down,and the opponent gets to have up to a 9-count by the ref...and the other new-rule that I'd have in MMA is that,a fight that goes to the ground can only Stay on the ground for 30 seconds. After which, both fighters are mandatorily forced to stand back up.

It's almost a stance where you're square on or where both shoulders are facing the opponent. The downside is it leaves your abs vulnerable BUT you can generate more power with both hands and if you tuck your elbows in you also protect the ribs. The reason it's used is because you can check leg kicks better
@scarred10

@@ronki23 it's not a Dutch stance,its just a normal low kick kickboxing stance .The main thing you learn from above the waist is how to box since the kicks need to be set up and you need range to kick.You can get away without good hands in thai but not full contact.
