Many thanks for the upload! I saw this on original transmission and thought Paul Heiney did a terrific job, given his complete lack of previous experience - albeit many of the crew would have given him some good advice. The girls said they hated the video but, as we saw earlier in the programme, they approved Paul's ideas - and even threw in a few of their own... so their later reaction seems rather disingenuous. Of the negative comments put forward by the contributors at the end of the show, I think Michael Hurll's assertion that all three girls should have been seen at the start of the video and Ken Russell's view that we shouldn't have seen the stranger's face were the only fair criticisms.

The other version is 100% better imo but this is amazing to see. I never saw it in the 80s and wasn’t aware this version existed.

One thing saying never saw it in the 80's, as you prob wasn't born or was 10 months old! But to say wasn't aware this version o f Venus existed is very mind boggling!

According to an inflation calculator, £20,000 1987 today is £55+k. Give or take, kindly correct me if a different metric is available than what I found. What money's allocated in music videos during that time, I'm not aware of. But both videos of "Trick of the Night," were pure Bananarama. I remember the black & white version (saxophone without skip-beats)was shown on US television back in 87. It was beautifully shot with lots of shadowing & movemennt of irban landscape (footage from a vehicle).

Been thinking the exact same thing. It's like a beautiful artist and two cute(ish) goofballs having fun. Although . . . Sarah had the best style back in the day and was my favorite before I took a close look at the band.

A brilliant song and a quite mellow video clip in their original form, destroyed by a remix version of SAW and of this stupid video clip. I don't like it at all
