This MV version is good to hear the clarity individuals instruments but you MUST react to the LIVE version. It has the energy the studio lack and the cool JAM in the middle on the LIVE version. Same song but two different songs......you'll see.

I discovered Band-Maid about 3 years ago and became an instant fan. I saw them in Dallas this past October and they are a superb live band which you will discover from their live videos. I also suggest y'all react to the live video of Domination. In that performance they added about a minute to the song so it will be, in many ways, a different song to you. They closed the Dallas show with Domination and it had plenty of punch. Band-Maid is not a metal band although they will throw in a metal sound at times. They are primarily a hard rock band that will sometimes lean into pop rock and sometimes lean into punk rock. The guitarist with the PRS (she is a huge fan of Carlos Santana) is named Kanami and she is the songwriter of the band. I have now listened to many Japanese bands in the last three years and she is only one of two Japanese artists that I would call a musical genius (the other being Miyako of Lovebites). There is a Band-Maid video that has two songs back to back that they performed in a 2021 pandemic live stream. The songs are Manners and Black Hole, both written by Kanami, and they show the immense versatility of the band. Manners is more of an old school classic rock song while Black Hole is rock/punk/metal chaos - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n8eWbJefs7m2d3k.html Edit: I forgot to mention that PRS has only two official artists from Japan and Kanami Tono is one of them

The MV rendition of Domination is great, but the band absorbs a live crowd's energy like a sponge and blasts it back a hundredfold. They really sparkle and shine when they pull out all of the stops during a live performance. Usually, the official live versions really highlight what they are capable of, which is amazing.

Band Maid brought me to your channel. Great reaction guys! In my late 60's, retired from my music production career, I consider this band to be the best all girl band on the planet, at least that I have heard of. This is the tip of the iceberg, they play outstanding material with elements of pop, punk, grunge, funk, jazz, metal and some beautiful ballads and scorching instrumentals. They excel in live performances and all their Official MVs and Live videos are superb. Just react to anything they do, you will not be disappointed and they have a pretty big catalogue, over 130 songs. Subscribed. Cheers and thanks from Australia!

KZfaq is being stupid so this may post twice since it won't allow me to make an edit. And the "Silver" guitar is actually a Zemaitis "Aces and Eights" and the guitarist Miku calls it "Skull". Miku currently plays her own Signature Zemaitis guitar called "The Flappy Pigeon" . The Bassist MISA, plays a custom bass from Black Cloud a custom Japanese Luthier, it is called a "Black Smoker" and has a custom neck and hand wound pickups to her specifications. The Lead guitarist, Kanami, is playing a PRS Custom 24, while the drummer Akane plays Tama with a Ludwig snare and Zildjian cymbals. And this is the first part of an information file I post for new reactors to Band-Maid. Welcome to the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND IN THE WORLD!!!! 98% of their songs are best viewed LIVE. There are a few where the MV is better until the Ladies release a new LIVE version of those songs. Of which "Warning" is one. Car chases, explosions, beautiful women and Hard Rock, it is all in there. There are one or two others, but those are debated heavily between us Maidiacs. You will find that Band Maid has an EXTREMELY Loyal and Protective as well as Supportive Fan Base. We call ourselves Maidiacs (Maid EE Acts). Many of us are on the Band Maid Fans Discord, and we will search out new reactions to Our Ladies music, daily, sometimes hourly. 😁 Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band) Name/Age: Nickname: Position: Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist, Age: 31 Koba/Kuruppo/ Backing Vocals, Backing Tracks, Arrangements 10/21/91 Cluppo Kanami Tono Princess/ Lead Guitarist, Primary Composer, Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Backing Tracks Age: 31 Kanamincho/ Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Arrangements 9/28/91 Mincho Akane Hirose Gorilla/ Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks, Age: 32 Ah-Chan Arrangements 12/14/90 MISA Barefoot Assassin/ 5 String Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks Age: 30 MISA-MISA-MISA Arrangements 10/15/92 Saiki Atsumi Ice Queen/ Primary Lead Vocalist, Backing Vocals, Lyricist, Backing Vocals on Backing Age: 29 Sai-Chan/ Tracks, Backing tracks, Arrangements 2/8/94 Sensei (Teacher) For the rest of the file if someone would post a reply, I can then post the rest as a reply to their post.

@@npmushead6543 Here is the rest of the file. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan. Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their KZfaq channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid.

Welcome to Band Maid.. another wonderful rabbit hole to go down. The guitar that the other guitarist (Miku) is playing is a Zemaitas, the product of a company which I believe is, or was, London-based and formed by an Italian creator. As with all the other bands you mention they have an extensive catalogue of winning songs, mostly blues essence rock/metal based, although their last album Unseen World was quite laced on the progressive side.. You may try tracks such as "Warning", "Manners", "Moratorium", "Play", Choose Me", "Daydreaming", Black Hole".. A lot of people will recommend a lot of songs.. as with the other bands you really can't fail, and as with the other bands just go wide and get a taste of what they do! They tend to mix japanese and english the same way that Nemophila do, but don't worry.. they're as good as or better live as with the other bands too! lol..

Despite the 100+ comments that will tell you that you should have listened to the live version first, I think you made the right choice. Listening to the studio version, along with this excellent video, is the perfect set up for the live concert. And, yes, the videos audio does suffer from high compression, but it's still good. Miku Kobato - rhythm guitar, vocals, lyrics, band founder. Plays for Zemaitis, has her own model, "Flappy Pigeon", po. Kanami - lead guitar, main composer, vocals. Plays for PRS on a Custom 24. Flaky genius MISA - bass, assassinations. Plays various Black Cloud 'Private reserve' basses designed to her specifications. Akane - drums, backing vocals. Sponsored by Tama Drums and Chiquita Banana. Well, maybe not that last one... Saiki - lead vocals, lyrics. Queen of the scene, Tsundere Supreme. Heavier songs? OK. 'RINNE' is a good start. 'Real Existence' or 'Black Hole' are excellent. 'From Now On' is an amazing instrumental. Keep in mind, they are mostly hard rock, not death metal.

I agree! I like the MV as well and I feel is a pretty good starting place. It appears Domination live has been many peoples recommendation as an intro to Band-Maid which is a track that in my opinion not their best but good enough to get an idea what they generally sound like. Sometimes it's hard to choose a good introduction track for ones first-time being exposed to Band-Maid. I was fortunate to have Moritorium (Live) as my first exposure to this incredibly great band. Needless to say It hooked me immediately and the rest is history.

As others have said : You have to check out the official live version of this song. Live with audience is where Band Maid really shines. That being said, "Domination" is not their "final form". Personally I'd recommend the official Live video Manners/Black Hole ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n8eWbJefs7m2d3k.html ). This was recorded live but during the pandemic, so no live audience , but it shows the range of Band-Maid songs (their 4 or 5 ballads non-withstanding), with the very mellow, 70s-stoner-rocky "Manners", followed by the manic prog-rock extravaganza "Black Hole".

Well Metal by dictionary terms is a sub-genre of Rock... But when I say that Band-Maid actually plays a bit of Metal, I'm talking traditional heavy metal in the sense Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are considered Metal, as you know they established the popularity of Heavy Metal... But somewhere down the line people only associate the extreme Metal that has become popular in the last few decades as Metal and traditional heavy metal is often confused with Hard Rock.
@edwardallen4051
@edwardallen4051 Жыл бұрын
@@roygillotti4615 The line between hard/heavy Rock and metal/heavy metal is a fine one. I can only speak from my experience at the time (in the UK). Bands such as Cream, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin for example we called both Prog Rock and Heavy Rock, Sabbath and Purple have been described as metal in retrospect, that term was not applied to them at the time (late 60's/early 70's) and I still regard them as prog/heavy rock bands. From all I have read the term heavy metal first appeared in the early 70's first as a derogatory term to describe turgid unmelodic,over distorted rock and not as a genre per se. I believe Humble Pie's first album got that description. I can't even remember when I first heard a band being described as a heavy metal band but I'd guess it would have been after 1975 and probably applied to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden or even AC/DC or Nazareth.

As others have already said, and for good reason, you're missing out on the official live version. It genuinely makes the studio track obsolete. It's transformative, legitimately. Domination Live is one of their best tracks and the studio track is not even top 30 in my book. You're missing out on the energy, showmanship and crowd participation. While they have tons of amazing songs to choose from, but you'll do yourself a disservice by settling for this version. The same way the radio would play Cheap Trick or Kiss or Peter Frampton live. Historically, Band-Maid has been more hard rock but have made any and every combination of hard rock, metal, punk and pop you can imagine. They have done early 90's thrash metal to groove-driven hard rock to 00's pop-rock with heavier metal guitars, to Blue Oyster Cult 70's rock, to early 00's alt-rock/nu-metal to a ton of other combinations. Throughout all of it, they have "pop sensibilities," which is to say, it's catchy and something you can follow and sing or hum along to. Contrast to a Lovebites, that while very impressive, you are left listening to and not singing along to. They've been doing more anime rock/metal as of late. For reference, I would consider Domination to be hard rock with a metal guitar topping. Suggestions other than Domination Live for metalheads: Rinne/Reincarnation and Black Hole. Cheers.

Try the Official Live version of this song to see them in their element. To hear their full genre range try the Manners/Black Hole double Official Live Video. Then the masterpiece that is the Blooming Official Music Video.

*Sigh* Band-Maid are an excellent live band with serious stage presence and the live version of this is a bit of a showcase of them doing their thing, in their zone. It’s a real treat, the MV is merely very good. Everything they do has balls twice as big when they’re live.

To see an extra bit of oomph you should check out the live version of "Domination" But when it comes down to the nitty gritty though these ladies are best seen live, there are loads of lives on their channel pick any. The don't do bad they do BAND-MAID "Play" Live, "Manners/Black Hole" live, "Real "Existence" live, "Onset" Live. MV's "Dice", "Rinne", "Blooming" "From Now On" Just a few to choose from.

Nice analysis - subscribed! As a band, they tend to traditional rock and maybe pop punk with a progressive touch but they won't stay in any particular lane for very long. You have a lot of recommendations and they're all good - I like the "covid live" (ie. live-streamed from a studio) "Manners/Black Hole". "Manners" is groovy rock, and "Black Hole" is not. My most recent obsession is a recent MV called "from now on" It is an instrumental from their latest EP. I'm interested to hear what you have to say about it.

Thanks for reacting to the greatest rock band in the world!! As the rest of the Madiacs will tell you, you need to check out their live videos. They truly shine in their live performances. They describe themselves as hard rock and mix genres, including metal, pop-punk, jazz, blues, etc If you want some heavier stuff than check out "Rinne", "Black Hole", "Moratorium", or "Warning". Unfortunately for you they don't really go full heavy metal/ thrash/ metalcore. If you like melodic hard rock played by ultra-talented musicians who love their fans as much as we love them then you will like Band-Maid.

A little more tempo, more energy? -> Here you go: 'Real Existence' (Live!), 'Blooming' (MV) or 'Rinne' (MV) Yep, for some reason, the volume on especially the earlier videos of these ladies is way too low most of the time. And yes, the sound of them is definitely more rock-heavy compared to the bands you mentioned at the beginning, but with that they stand out from the crowd. They manage to bring classic rock from the 70s/80s into today's time and give it a modern twist. Fun Fact: In 2016 I think a certain Jimmy Page saw a concert of the ladies and was so impressed by drummer Akane that he asked for a personal meeting afterwards. I think that says a lot. :) Greetings from a German member of the Maidiacs family. _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!'_ 」 --- *BAND-MAID* 'Manners' 🕊

Guys, welcome to the Maidiacs!! Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the huge iceberg of musical greatness from these ladies and the more you hear from them and get to know them, the more you'll love 'em! That being said, I'm sure the live version will be mentioned a hundred times in these comments. As good as that was, the live version really Is Way better. It sounds harder and supplies that punch that Jason thought it was missing. It also gives you a glimpse of their talent because each member has their own highlight section which makes it so entertaining. It'll really make you want to see them live. Some other suggestions: From Now On, Moratorium ((Live), Rinne Thanks! 🤘🤩🤘

Oh my gosh, you have opened the floodgates. They may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles. (Yes, I stand by that statement!) You are going to get a lot of suggestions. A lot of links get taken down quickly, but I’ll give you a few that are official and likely to stay up. First, a little background on the girls: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 29 years old MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred. They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. Their fan base skews heavily to actual practicing musicians. Some of those followed the band to multiple dates and documented everything on youtube-some of the footage is hilarious. I’ve seen them twice (2019 and 2022) and their shows are truly life-reaffirming. Band-Maid are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. Here are more links: Freedom (Feb 14 2020) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fK6gqKiisqfHdJs.html Domination (Feb 14 2020) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8iphKZ705zWiZs.html Choose Me (Feb 14 2020) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fsmhnNeTvc3Nl4k.html Onset (Instrumental-insane!) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7yigZCbxLvHYIk.html And an official MV, one of their most popular: Daydreaming (it’s a slower ballad, gorgeous and truly heart-wrenching): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iKmRmLic16_YqY0.html

They are not metal band . So I don't know if it will satisfy your tastes , but their heaviest song is Rinne, I guess. And if you want full english song, they don't have few. One of them is Dragon Cries which many of Maidiacs don't like. I don’t hate it, because this song shows how versatile they are.

The instrumental “From Now On” had the nasty sound! Although this video is good, all “Maidiacs” will direct you to the live videos. They are the best at having a heavy rock/metal sound mixed with a catchy chorus. The song Moratorium is a great example. Of course, live 🤘
