I've said it a lot but it bears repeating; You have to love a band that loves you back. I had trips to Japan on the books to see them at Budokan and Knotfest when everything got cancelled. But they did livestreams both days for us because they knew how badly we wanted to see them, and they wanted to see us. Band Maid is the best! I can't wait for the US dates to be announced!!

This was their first online show. Kind of a test run, if you will, and the beginning of several full scale concerts to come. This was the first time I'd seen them "live". I didn't care if it was only a 20min set or shot on an iPhone. I was just over joyed to finally see them. And yes, with their U.S. tour just announced, I will be doing my best to schedule vacation around a show and will fly wherever I need to...also making that mt first time flying so..yeah it has the potential to be a big week.

to experience Band Maid live is, I imagine, like a Bowie concert. there is always something going on somewhere, and you just have to resign yourself to the fact when you are looking one part of the stage, you are missing whatever is going on on the other side. You just have to enjoy what you are looking at. Not hard to do with Band-Maid

🤘😎🤘 Skipping songs makes one feel guilty. This is a fun performance even if the sound is shit it's still infectious. I think this would have been the perfect set for Knotfest, cover a Slipknot song to get the audiences attention, kick them in the face with RINNE and then pull them through BAND-MAID doing their BAND-MAID thing.

They have a "The Show must go on!" mentality. Where as covid has kind of crippled live shows, that just didn't slow down Band-Maid, in fact I would say they have excelled in the face of the adversity. It is obvious that they have a work ethic that very few bands have or have had, Really quite amazing. This show just solidified to me how great they are. I mean the sound was shit and yet there was never any doubt that they were kicking ass. I mean it could have come off as, "Well the sound was for shit and I couldn't really tell if they are good or not, or whether I was actually entertained." But that was not the case, I could tell they were kicking and I had a smile on my face the whole show. And I think that is what Rock is all about.

The dedication that this band shows to not only their craft but to their fans as well is so refreshing. I remember when this was announced and broadcast how excited we all were. This was their first attempt at a live stream of any kind, IIRC. While it was very basic and filmed on a smartphone what it shows is the raw talent and, in my mind especially, the raw sound of th band since this was clearly a rehearsal space they co-opted. With that raw sound you really get to hear (as much as we can in this case) what each member is doing. Also really fun to watch both Mincho and Miku just bopping away to the harder songs in this set list. They truly are an amazing and thoughtful band. We are truly blessed by their music and their care for us, the fans. :)

This was a once in a live time event..the power, the dedication, their wiliness to perform no matter the conditions for their fans was amazing! They were showing the fans just how much they love the stage! The raw emotion they showed here made up for the sound quality.....in the end this was probably the most fun I've ever had from a streaming concert... Thanks Ryan for the great video! Thanks from 🇨🇦

I would pay good money to be in the front row of that stage. It’s so cool these gals did that. It just shows that they care about their fans because a lot of bands would not have done that. They are already my favorite band but this just shows how lucky and spoiled us Maidiacs are. They bring energy no matter how big or small the venue is. There is a lot of fan cam videos from their shows .. some are decent some are not, but I still enjoy watching them. One of my favorites is a video of Miku taking to the audience during their mid-show break and she makes every band member , except Akane, do a drum solo.. it’s great…and i discovered that Kanami and Misa can drum fairly decently .

I'm not 100% sure because of the quality but I think the guy you mentioned watching from the side is Dai-chan(Daisuke Kondo). He is Band-Maid's guitar tech & has been with them for many years, if you check out any lives performances he is always just off stage on Kanami's side. He is one hell of a guitarist & bassist himself, & the grey burst PRS Kanami is playing here & the previous tour to this is his. She said she loved how powerful it sounded because of the mods he did to it so much, that she ended up using it alot till just recently.

I think the issue is more directional. When the camera goes close on the left vs the right, you can here the sound change drastically. Look at how the amps are faced. The bass will be less directional, like the drums, so both of them are coming through great. Once you're in front of Kanami's amp it sounds fine, but I think it was facing straight across to MISA so her and Akane could hear it.

BEFORE I GET TORN TO SHED'S FROM MY FELLOW MAIDIACS".....Context...Remember ...context... It has the quality of "Cliff 'em All", and the same sentiment. I remember watching this as a free KZfaq broadcast at work. lol Glad to say that they and their production team learn't "A WHOLE LOT" from this broadcast. They went from recording on mobile phones to actual camera's after this. It was at the start of the Pandemic, who knew what the f#"k to do. It is as cool as it is raw. As we now know it lead to some great online performances. They had NO obligation to do this. They did this with only their fans in mind..... which lead to many great online performances... don't get me started on their latest.... a lesson for ALL musicians. In "Screaming" I think MISA learn't that she didn't have to stand in the one spot to sound Sh#t. She can do what she does and it will still sound sh&t. LOL MANY, MANY, MANY lessons learnt from this 1 performance ..... still "l'ts cool" lol. 1. This was before Unseen World and..... 2. I did sing "Hello Hello" during this performance. lol As for doing this.... as you said... they did not have to do this, yet they did....... which lead to/become doing thier many on-live shhows "Band Maid" "Unmasked". 5 Ladies playing Band Maid songs in "normal" clothes

There is a silver lining, though: in Europe people will be able to take the trains and follow the tour from one city to the next if they wish, whereas in the US that will require spending all day in a car or navigating the obstacle course of air travel. Ryan! Sorry, I will have to comment although I already sent my good wishes for the end of the year! LOL I will probably sound pedantic, but this kind of "service" is typically Japanese! If you once come to this country (Absolutely do not forget to notify me in advance. I will do my best to help and meet you in person at least once! It a promise written for all to read!), you will be surprised at the hospitality and care for guests! A normal way of life so many countries (including France) have lost... Their fans expect no less! Even if the quality is not there, the heart is! At the same time, it becomes a reference to their progress. Miku has become so eager to prove she can play her guitar and bleedin' enjoy it! Incidentally, Misa has changed her "uniform" and certainly looks the better for it! This was March and still chilly in Japan and Saiki was wearing long boots and looks definitely very "adult"! And Kanami was showing her live concert (endearing) face/grin/pixie smirk when she soloed Blooming! Can you imagine their fans' reaction? By the way, your facial expression did change then! LOL. Blimey, I noticed she picks and slaps at the same time! You called her a wizard, did you not? ... You finally noticed MIsa's smile... I can hear someone tip-toeing behind your back with a knife.... Akane isAkane... And the two faithful stage technicians are still there... Domination is so much fun! Now, what are they preparing next? Ah, yes, the online Christmas acoustic concert! S..t! my glas is empty again! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

Considering the impromptu session & using a phone camera, I have to wonder if they could have set up a mix system to capture the sound a little better. But it was probably a strategic move, to whet the appetite, as Miku held the sign up for us, so that we could go from crappy-sounding phone capture (not really the phone's fault for normal less loud situations) to actual studio quality sound.

The energy is off the scale!! Not even a worldwide pandemic was able to stop these wonderful humans from doing what they love!! They seem to love the fans as much as one another and their phenomenal music. I have to see this band live.

Here's what I'm thinking Ryan, if the girls will be playing anywhere near you on their 2022 tour, you should get a few of the boys together for either the night before, or after, for a set at one of your favorite local bars, pub, club, garage, or whatever for the Band-Maid fans & the fans of your channel. They'd of course have to learn at least one BAND-MAID song, maybe Onset?

@@RyanMear I have used the tag line Sacramento loves Band-Maid for over five years and while in line at the Echoplex l met many people and many people who recognized me from KZfaq. And we partied and hung out that day. I got into line at 8:25 am for a show that started at 8 pm. And l am glad l did. So, yes if you go to any show l will bet that will happen. Getting there very early also got me right up front between MISA and Miku. Literally close enough to touch them if l had so desired. Of course l did but of course l wouldn't.

This and the London Comic Con 2016 outdoor set before the actual indoor concert are favorites of mine. The Comic Con one had pretty good sound and was a really raw performance. Unfortunately the full show video disappeared from KZfaq a while back. Only bits and pieces remain.

Thanks for doing this, it was such a surprise when it was announced and even though it was streaming on an iPhone it was still fun to watch, more like a jam. There was a chat also on going and that was also crazy with all the comments.

They should be as proud of this as they rightfully are of the acoustic on Christmas. Both shows were out of love. Love for the fans, for the music. This is the most down to earth, human band ever, I hope they play together as long as possible.

What people don't realize....When Band-Maid was booked as the opening act for KnotFest Japan 2020.... it would've been the single-largest crowd they ever played in front of. Upwards of 20,000 people. They were stoked. And then COVID panic hit and it got cancelled. Then in February of 2021, they were booked to play at the legendary Budokan - which is to Tokyo what Madison Square Garden is to NYC. *IT* would've been their largest crowd ever as a headliner - over 10,000 people. And it TOO was cancelled because of COVID. Fate keeps throwing obstacles in front of them - and they keep saying "f*** you, Fate! We're going to achieve World Domination anyway!" "Can't perform in front of a live audience? We're going to create the very best online concert experiences ever seen. And dammit, we're going to the US to spread the good news and get ourselves noticed!: As Saiki sings in Hide-and-Seek: "Nobody can stop me!" They know they're great. And they won't stop until everyone else knows it as well.

I've seen a lot of different bands. But I don't know any band that cares about their fans as much as they do. They wanted to deliver a performance to their fans despite the poor, poorly prepared sound environment. A proud band would never play in such an environment. Yes, let me add one more thing. I don't know any band that loves each other as much as they do.

Awesome you said you want to check out some fancams, there are some really good ones out there with WAY better sound and quality than this. I recommend starting with Vladimir Chupin, he has several full European shows posted & most videos are broken down song for song, so perfect to react to. His quality is top notch, damn near proshot. He is pretty active in the reaction community too, I know he is one of Wave Potters Patreons, so if you don't know him already you should reach out to him.
