For me as a chemist it was an interesting challenge, to think how I would preserve that peel 🤔 I would use glycerine, probably. Just immerse that peel in glycerine, and keep it in a jar on a shelf. I only don't know if the signature would dissolve in glycerine or not.

@@VladimirChupin someone said they used epoxy resin. If you've been in bars where you can see things like tickets or coins in the bar top, that's what they use. My uncle gave me a rattle snake in glycerine. It wasn't permanent. Probably because the snake had oxygen and bacteria. A banana peel would have some. Maybe if you pressed it first. Doing it in a vacuum seems unpractical.

@@jefffromchicago6321 Yes, in addition to glycerine probably some sterilizing agent is needed, you are right. Something non-destructive, though. Normally in medicine, they use formaldehyde for that purpose. It should be OK, but the specimens I've seen in the museums were all discoloured. I don't know if that's because of formaldehyde, though. Probably you are right, in the end, it must be some anti-bacterial treatment, followed by sealing that banana peel in epoxy resin. I would need a bit of advice from a biologist first...

@@VladimirChupinthis needs to be figured out before next tour. I decided to approach it with a practical perspective. I think most people would be in a hotel. I I would bring a zip lock plastic bag and a paper towel to the show. Which I bring on a travel anyway. If I caught a peel I would take the signed petal, wrap and press it a little in the paper towel, bag it, press out air before sealing. Sell the other petals as being touched by Akane😃. After the show it will be late. Try to find an all night Home Depot for epoxy and a mold. Or try to find any store that sells a poly floor vanish/wax. Or for a temporary fix. A clear liquid shoe polish, or hairspray, or even petroleum jelly. Turn up AC in hotel to take out the moisture. It would be interesting to see how a peel would hold up in the microwave. To kill bacteria and make it easier to dab off moisture.

@@jefffromchicago6321 Epoxy resin will not penetrate an original banana peel, it's wet. You have to replace water in the banana with something else, to be replaced with epoxy resin at the final stage. I don't know what would be the best option, I thought about glycerine as the most obvious option. You immerse the peel in glycerine with an addition of formaldehyde, wait overnight, then immerse it in epoxy resin.
