You might appreciate to know Jimmy Page went to see the girls in 2016 in Tokyo. After the show he asked to have a picture with the drummer Akane, as he thought she might be the re-incarnation of Jon Bonham. He thought Akane was one of the best live drummers he's ever seen, and this was 4 years ago.

shogo youshida credited as the drum tech for the album, and apparently all their albums since 2016 played drums jor a JPN band from mid 90s to early 2010s at least. Akane the drummer has also mentioned that they really liked one of Shogo's band's albums and it was one of her inspirations. So it looks like she hired one of her drumming inspirations as her drum tech.

Punk Dad keeping it real! :) We had music classes when I was a kid in the UK in Grammar school years ago. I don't know of they still do? It was not to teach an instrument (though it was encouraged) but introduced us to Classical mostly, the composers, explaining the compositions and the meanings etc of the different prices and composers influences. We did do other forms too, some Jazz, a little rock etc, but mostly for specific lessons. IDK what the Japanese version is like.

Subbed because you said you didn't (or did? hard to hear exactly) like Slipknot back in the day but you'd give 'em another try. I didn't like 'em either! In fact as an early alt-rock guy I was kinda snotty about it. I've matured a bit since then, and I should give Slipknot another shot too. I largely discovered Band-Maid thanks to metal fans, after all, even though I'm not one (although now I'm interested....) Hear, Hear! for continuing open-mindedness. OH, the drum tuning: Akane said (Instagram or something) that she took ONE rubber foot off a leg on her floor tom to reduce the resonance/boominess of it a bit. Not all of them, just one. Even if she read or heard about another drummer doing it, still pretty amazing attention to detail. I think it's mostly her own doing, with lots of consultation with professionals she respects and the other band members. I would not be surprised if Saiki had something to say about the drum sound. And about the Japanese music requirement, I think (maybe somebody from Japan can correct me if needed), it's actually that every HS student has to participate in an after-school club. A lot of those are music clubs, which IIRC is how Akane, Misa, and Kanami really got started (the first two on different instruments than what they are amazing at now). And the guys mostly join sports clubs, while the girls lean towards music, accounting for the proliferation of amazing female Japanese bands. (The premier high school marching band in Japan is like 95% female, but AFAIK the student body is basically 50/50. [Random point in a performance: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdt8mdWHm5mbaXk.html ) (And before any Drum Corps International people start in, YEAH I know but it's just one local HS band and do you really want to compete against the Japanese going all in on DCI?)

Thank you very much, I appreciate that a lot. I used to be a very big music snob when I was a young fresh cut punk rocker but now I'm the Punk Rock Dad (lol) so in preparation of not understanding anything my kids like, I'm legit trying to experience stuff of all kinds and discover how different my palate is now from then. And yes, I used to hate Slipknot but I'm going to try them again soon. And probably Manson, Tool, and Linkin Park. Haven't heard much of any of that in ages but I used to hate it. The only issue is if I'm honest about it and not 100% positive I'll get dumped on by TONS of people🤷‍♂️

@@31TV_TX Ha, we seem to be on close to the same wavelength. If you haven't heard Fig Dish (90s Chicago alt-rock) or For Squirrels (90s Southern alternative, one minor hit with "Mighty K.C." before a horrible tour van accident), there's a good chance you'd dig them. Also Swervedriver if you'd be into 20-effects-pedals-at-once melodic groove-driven shoegazey stuff; _Mezcal Head_ is an amazing album.
