I am a 69 year old jazz fusion prog rock drummer and Akane is constantly amazing me!!!! She is very special and so natural and fluid with incredibly hard and unique patterns and fills. She reignited my love for drumming. She is one of the most amazing drummers walking the Earth. Portnoy with a beautiful smile

You just jumped to #1 for my fav reviewers on this band. That was awesome. Look forward to the next one. When I first learned of this band, Akane stood out and I noticed like Neil Pert and mostly Jazz drummers Iv'e see, she sits very straight. Her posture changed I was told by a long time fan as she was having pains and fatigue to the more formal posture. IDK if thats 100% true but she definitely stands out on many levels. Drummer Mag was especially flattering and her heavy Tom use and fact this is all on a 5 piece set had that reviewer gushing haha

I really enjoy your analysis on Akane's drumming. One of the main reasons that I love bandmaid so much is they let each member really shine. Whenever I listen to many 80s bands, most drummers and bassists were seemingly forced to hold back. Bandmaid is truly the perfect team, there's this oneness about the band yet each member has their own different identity.

Lovely to see Akane getting the praise she deserves. One of my two favorite japanese drummers. Hard for me to pick a favorite of Senri Kawaguchi and Akane Hirose, they are quite different. But I do wonder what they have in the water in Japan. It's not like it is a new thing, one of my favorite bands in the 80's was Casiopea, amazing musicians also. Great reaction.

I watched all of your reactions to the fascinating young Japanese drum mastery of Senri Kawaguchi, Yoyoka, and Kanade Soto before you found my favorite band, Band-Maid. Your enthusiasm for the band took me a little bit by surprise, because most of your reactions to the other ladies were mostly them doing covers or solos. Akane is not a look-at-me, look what I can do, kind of drummer. There is a show-off quality to some other musicians doing reactions to Band-Maid. It's almost like they are saying during their demonstrations, "see, what she is doing is not that hard, and I can play Kanami's part note-for-note". I want to tell them they don't have her phrasing, smile and stage presence, but I don't. :) I don't get anything but deep respect for their music from you. Refreshing. :) "Secret My Lips" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7yllsRou5OZdZc.html

glad you like them, enjoyed the video, didn't expect you to look at the band maid prime thing lol, they had the membership fan club for some time now (they used to do it to communicate with fans and post what behind the scene stuff and what they are working on) but they only started the prime thing like one or 2 months ago so they are working now pretty consistenly on new content there, at least for now that they can't do any live gigs. Very interesting video, I didn't know all of this about her drumming, all I knew was that she is very dynamic, you feel she doesn't keep the same type of drumming throughout the whole song and changes it a lot so it's nice seeing you talk about it and performing it

Akane's creativity and diversity on her kit probably make her my favourite drummer. But I gotta say that I missed your first reaction to this song, I LOVE watching people experience it, makes me kinda feel like experiencing the song for the first time again. Excellent!!! Really enjoyed this👍👍!!! Definitely looking forward to seeing the other ladies' breakdown. Yes they have talent, but I really appreciate is that they put the time and hard work to get where they're at. During the covid shutdown, Akane said she had a chance to work on and improve basic skills. The others did as well, improving on their weaknesses, and it shows! I have seen some of the greatest drummers ever, live, including Mr. Rich, and I can honestly put Akane in the upper group. Not the most technical, not the most flashy, but solid, never boring, always interesting, and knows her place within Band-Maid,...to me, the perfect drummer!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘

Great Analysis!! And good way for it. I'm glad you like AKANE (YOYOKA and SENRI KAWAGUCHI, too). I think you will love this interview. Please read it. - I see… Also, NO GOD has many highlights of the rhythm section. Did you receive such requests? Kanami: I wrote NO GOD because Akane had said she wanted a song with modulations. This time I talked with my bandmates like “What kind of song do you want?”, because I had a lot of occasions to talk with them during the COVID pandemic, but I couldn’t have much time to talk with Akane in detail because I wanted to let her concentrate on practicing the difficult drums I had written. She told me once on LINE she wanted a song with modulations, so I decided to give her a song with modulations as a surprise present and also thought she would be glad if it starts with the drums, but when I told her “I wrote a song with modulations for you” she was like “Did I say such a thing?” (laughter) Kobato: But she said “I was glad because it starts with the drums”, po (laughter). Kanami: But she’d forgotten it (laughter). From:Interview with Miku Kobato and Kanami on the May 2021 issue of Player (2021-04-02): The two guitarists (Translated by t-shinji) www.reddit.com/r/BandMaid/comments/o5lnk7/interview_with_miku_kobato_and_kanami_on_the_may/ By the way, KANAMI (in Kanji 歌波) means song WAVE.

I reckon you've really excelled all your previous great work with this format, Wave - genuinely informative and enjoyable viewing. Great to see you elevating the somewhat overlooked rhythm sections of songs and bands, whilst giving us better appreciation of the melodic sections and the whole effort and effect. Not over technical so that non-musicians and budding musicians can learn to appreciate each band member's contribution to the whole, though some quick glosses of terms might make your work even more consciousness raising and help bring more appreciation of the brilliant musicianship and inspiration too. Much appreciated, all the best! Ps. I think Akane is one of Yoyo-chan's heroes!

The songs that Kanami makes are getting more and more complicated, and I'm looking forward to what kind of play MISA and Akane will play. I thought I knew that Akane could hit in different ways, but when I saw you demonstrate, I really liked Akane's play. Great job

I can’t wait to hear more! And yes, Akane blows my mind with her drum patterns. It was definitely a brain workout just to try to replicate it. But it really helped me appreciate her even more!

@@WavePotter Thank you for your reply. I liked the glaring and dangerous rock of the early Stones, but after that I got bored and fell in love with Jazz. I happened to find a band maid and listen to it, but I had never thought that the drums of a rock band were cool, but I was surprised at how Akane chooses the hitting method according to the song and the good sense of tempo selection. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i76AraSS2LG7gZs.html

I've been on this BM rabbit hole journey since 2020 (discovered BM through my pandemic YT scrolling) lol!. I hope your channel becomes a mainstay in the reaction world. Thank you for your efforts to help us understand the talent of these amazing musicians.

They said on an interview that Akane showed the members samples of the drumming for Black Hole, rated from Easy to Hell. All of them picked Hell and that became their fastest song to date. It would be fun if you tried to replicate it and show us

The fans asked Sora to cover it, and for like a month or so she was saying that she's working on it, but it's too difficult. Finally she did it, though: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fr9orNKpkpidqqM.html There's a partiture for the drums in BLACK HOLE, by the way: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prJ6qdRmmZrPgoU.html It's from Jrockpi.

A-chan is truly "half-gorilla." Long live the Banana Girl. At 5'6", she is truly a giant among drummers. She is part the power of Bonham/Peart, part the jazz stylist of Senri Kawaguchi, and part the steadiness of Ringo Starr.
