I am utterly insulted when Americans and other extremist republicans try to say that we are undemocratic because we have a Queen. We gain money simply from her existing. She inspires soldiers and citizens alike better than some bloody politician could. How dare people say we - the founders of modern democracy no less- are undemocratic! I challenge any republican to give me any GOOD reason as to why we should abandon our ancient traditions and identity.

umm i dont know what people were saying 7 years ago but ive never heard an american who says u are undemocratic because u have a queen... undemocratic because your parliament is corrupt sure, but not the queen. also your culture is the founders of modern republicanism and parliamentary forms of government. democracy is a modern progressive and liberal idea that even the ancient greeks disagreed with. mob rule isnt = to representative governance. May god give her majesty wisdom and strength, and may he bless America with strength in these troubling times.

World renown band. Instantly recognized all over the world. I'll work on finding written proof hover, to my knowledge and personal experience I have heard members from many military bands comment on the Royal Marines. All of which where positive and many have said they are in a class of their own, one of the best in the world. This is coming from military musicians from UK, France right to America, Australia and Canada. The dutch Royal Marines Band are good, but not the same scale as these

@@keithorbell8946 My father's regimental march. They had lyrics like "Don't throw the lamp at father..." Hitler's One Ball " is a new one to me. The U.S. Marines adapted " Hoss Shit, it makes the grass grow green..." In "Bridge on the River Kwai" the POWs whistled it. Whatever, it's still one of the best spirited marches created. The RM's give it their best, as they do with all of their music. No commands needed. They know where they're going and do it with elan.

It's from way back when a fair few number of British regiments were based in Africa and India, where big game hunting was undergoing an explosion in popularity. The leopard and tiger skins, shot by British officers as regimental trophies, were worn as aprons by the percussionists in the regiment's Corps of Drums and/or Pipes and Drums. This started in a couple of regiments, then it caught on and other regiments copied this practice. Today it's simply become tradition.

Gibraltar is a Battle Honour, obtained in 1704 if you wish to observe Corps History. Also, the Globe was enabled into the Cap Badge as being the only option for covering so many battles they were involved in, and not that they won them all, but, they certainly made a difference, so watch out el Spanish confronters of the twenty first century as they may return and give you more than a bloody nose to contend with!

My Clarinet Professor was Mike Thatcher BEM and my Clarinet Instructor was George Ayres and later Gordon Cook. I can't say that I recall you either, but, as there were over three hundred of us in the RMSM at the time should one be suprised? Senior Boy was Graham Hoskins who was the Only Section Leader who wore a Red Diamond on his upper left arm. I often wonder if my Pithe Helmet and Cross Strap and Music Pouch are on parade when viewing these videos. I suspect that the Belt which was of some leather composition was replaced by Plastic in later life. Also, we had to Blanco our White Equipment, so when it rained, as it often did, we had white streaks running down our Tunics, which we then had to dry out and beat the stain out of them with a Walking Out Cane!

Britain has several things you could call a 'bill of rights'. The magna carta and the BILL OF RIGHTS 1689 for example. And we have what is called an unwritten constitution meaning our constitution is made up of all the statutes pass by parliament and any other conventions and traditions we have accumulated. The flexibility of this system is actually what made the UK the most politically developed nation in the world in its heyday. IN contrast the american constitution is holding the USA back.

The UK does have a constitution nit wit. The difference being it is not set in stone like the US one but is an accumulation of all the statutes, conventions and traditions of the nation. For example the office of PM does not exist in writing but since it is a convention that every ministry has a PM then we just accept that there is an office we call Prime Minister
