@bgrobin66 Their helmets are known as, British Marine Wolseley Pattern Foreign Service Helmet The Wolseley pattern helmet has been the standard dress headgear for the Royal Marines, featuring a ball on top, a distinction once standard for artillerymen. This derives from the part of the Corps that was once the Royal Marine Artillery.

and years after every band in holland play the march royal salute and also army of the nile on competition !!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is very good for the english music writers! after that a lot of dutch marching bands play now trafalgar, gibraltar and san carlos and more !!!!!

@TomTiet Hi thanks for that watched the vid and very good to , have looked at some of your vids as well on your channel good choice of marches . The middy is one of my old favourites and sounds superb when played by the massed bands of the royal marines especially the march HM JOLLIES .

The first march was the bugle march "Zeebrugge" followed by the slow march "The Globe and Laurel" which is based on the tune "early one morning". This was the original regimental slow march of the Royal Marines until replaced by the slow march "Preobrajensky". The third march was an Alford classic "Army of the Nile" split by the drum static "Tarabubky" I think. The march after the drum static is "Royal Salute from the Trio" The band is the Band of HM Royal Marines Naval Home Command.

To give the Band it's full title is as follows; The Band of Her Majestys Royal Marines Commander in Chief Naval Home Command. Later this was changed to HM Royal Marines Band Portsmouth. Members of this band were chosen to deploy in the Royal Yacht Britannia. All ranks within the band wore a "Flash" on their upper right shoulder denoting that they were the "Royal Yacht" Band. A great time in Breda and it was true that we were escorted by heavily armed security driving bullet proof Mercedes.

Brilliant that the drummers double as buglers. The RM band is hard to match, they always turn out a pristine performance.

Now that takes me back - I'm the bandy-legged clarinetist at the back. I do remember we were escorted everywhere by Dutch secret agents and the rehearsals were a right laugh, but I remember the lousy breakfasts of ham and cheese more so!

The slow march was the old song Early One Morning about some old girl crying cause her lover had left her in the lurch

Indeed this is Royal Salute but it is the TRIO Section of Royal Salute

I am a little confused as i always thought it was Per Mar Per Terram but i definitely have an old 33rpm LP that has the march in question under the tltle of Zeebrugge . The front cover shows a raider high speed launch with nine Royal Marines and HMS Ark Royal in the background on a cloudless day from 1974 on the back of the LP . ? !

Very stirring march.I think it is called ZEEBRUGGE in honour of a daring raid carried out by ROYAL MARINES.
