These episodes are filled with my favourite moments. Mr Prince rescue, the alligator/banana bit with Luffy and Usopp, Luffy telling Zoro to save Smoker, Luffy making Smoker blush with 'you're not unlikeable', Nico Robin bounty drop, Warlord Crocodile literally impaling and burying Luffy. It's a hit after hit.

The complete silence before "...Who do you think I am?" always gets me. Because at this point going against the Baroque Works has been a breeze, and their side has suffered a lot of lucky mistakes and inaptitude that worked out for the Strawhats. Even Mr. 3 had captured Zoro, one of the main cannons of the crew, to a point where he was ready to die fighting feetless against them. So now when Crocodile finally got serious about taking Luffy out, that's all it took. And now I can't wait to see Crocodile become King of the Pirates for the next 1000 episodes !! 🐊 👏 Sorry Luffy, your luck just ran out.... or did it?

here they respect each other, the first time they see Smoker blushing, Luffy praises that he doesn't hate Smoker... as we know, Smoker is different from marines in general, he is truly a defender of truth... who is sincere, not corrupt or just submitting to government orders.

This is where you begin to learn how dastardly Crocodile’s plan is, and I love it. If Yuba was able to produce water as a central oasis. They would of been able to send water to the surrounding city’s, Preventing the rebellion. Yuba was the final straw for the rebels leader to fight the king with out stopping Yuba from producing water they could not cause a rebellion as fast as they did.

I love how smoker leaves the choice to tashigi. It feels like his judgement is compromised so he leaves and let’s her decide how to act.

Smoker climbed up the ranks of fan favorites rather quickly.

Man the scene where Luffy gets impaled by croco was cold AF I gasped so hard when i watched it for the first time O__O The scene between smoker and the straw hats was so sweet, he's one of the few marine guys that deserve rights ^-^ One thing you guys need to understand is that people rarely die in OP kkkkk ps: Nico Robin is one of my favorite OP characters of all time :D

Why didn’t they build the towns closer to the river? Well I believe flooding is common for climates like that. Being too close to the river wouldn’t be good. Plus they got giant alligators in this country! I certainly wouldn’t wanna be too close to the river. God I love how intense these episodes are. Luffy losing this battle is was such a shock to me when I first watched. And Robin is just so damn mysterious I love it! I love Crocodiles show of pure Devil Fruit mastery in these episodes. DF’s don’t come with a manual, you are the only thing really limiting your power and the fact that he’s so adept in using the power is so fascinating to me. God I love Crocodile, I wish I could rant more about him but I don’t wanna color your expectations or anything! Great reaction!

You probably already realized this but Robin saved Igaram, when those hands came out of the darkness before the explosion. I assume that was her saving him.

Crocodile's bounty when it was frozen was a little higher than Nico Robin, like 80 million, but yeah still not that far apart. That shot of Crocodile stabbing Luffy like that is crazy, his first real big loss.

Shaka in the King's absence, does what he can do best..defend the country. He often gets misunderstood by viewers, that the King specifically said not to do so, but in this confusion, what else could he do.

Congrats on the 4k subs guys! Been here since y'all moved onto the anime from the LA, here's to 10k by the end of the year if not sooner! And yeah One Piece does have a reputation for... let's say ultra durable characters (Usopp most of all haha), but you should never get too comfortable. Igaram there is (as Brannon joked) is the commonly attributed first "how did he get outta there safely" example, but that's why I like the group watch format, as Zach points out it's proof that Sunday has her own agenda. Since you can go back to the episode and see hands pop up in a flash before the big explosion showing that she rescued him, if not how exactly. And Luffy takes his first big L. That's almost a bigger milestone than getting to the Grand Line!

Can't wait for the live action season 2.

Ugh, I've been sick for the last two days so I didn't get to this at the drop, sorry guys. A lot is happening, these are some great episodes for Alabasta. Luffy getting impaled always shocks me. They did such a great job animating it. But I like how the episodes prove what Crocodile is saying. This isn't the East Blue anymore, everything is tougher and The Stawhat's are gonna have to step up to get on that level. Great job, guys!

Luffy would be a tricky opponent for Robin - rubber bones dont break ;) But aside from that yeah - its not really a "power house" type of ability but an incredibly versatile one. She can trip you, cover your eyes saying "guess who!" in the middle of a fight, tie your shoelaces together lol... anything really.

Mihawk defeats Zoro and said "Frog in a well, know how big the world is" Crocodile defeats Luffy and says "Any number of rookies like you, here in the Grand Line" East Blue was a well indeed. Too OP for that region.

Been a hectic 14 days for me in terms of academics and responsibilities, but I gotta drop a comment no matter how late. Watchin the dub is peak bravery on Jonathan's part. They ruined Luffy, I cannot stand it🥴🥴 Having a bounty that big, at such an early age, for so long!!! What could it be? Mr 3 being a follow through to a theme he touched on in his intro; The importance of being able to use your DF power to its best utility is NB, and he did just that to save his life. This sunset scene is one of the few visuals that come to mind when I think of Alabasta; the ost, colours (I love sunset orange), and the dialogue. Yet again, we subtly shown what seems to be a "respect"/understanding of the weight of death, considering how he justifies/explains his want for Zoro to save Smoker (Don't know how else to phrase it). Then you have Smoker, a principled man strugglingto decide between his heart and probably what has been his North star since childhood (Uphoding the law and stuff). Chopper being able to speak to animals is soooo clutch. Oda has this ability to write such a long, emersive and detailed narrative that feeling like it is still early for this clash, despite how long it has already been, is a testament to that. "Dessarto Spada!"... Should have seen the look on your guys' faces...We really aren't in Kansas anymore. Chopper and Zoro's dynamics is one of my favourite "background dynamics". Zoro is such a big bro when it comes to Chopper. " Why do you fight? You, who have the name "D"? Who are you people? " Time for me to catch up on the other drops.
