Fun Fact in case anybody in the comments havent mentioned it but Dr Kureha's voice actress is the same lady who plays Goku! Rip Akira Toriyama🙏 Also a bit of a correction Chopper is actually Chopper's first name and Tony Tony is his last name. The names in One Piece are all set up backwards the same way names are in Japan with the family name being placed first. It's like how Monkey is Luffy's last name and not his first name.

Luffy just losing it on seeing an island...Iñaki a few months back attended a podcast with Xolo (Blue beetle guy) and Jacob (Cobra Kai), and was asked about the best part of his sailing adventure that lasted 80 days.. He said the best part about sailing..is when you reach the land🫢🫢🥹😂 The other two just lost it😛, that the best part is Not Sailing😅..he is so Luffy🎉

Jonathan mentioning the stairs like that is just hilarious🤣. Take note of the different coloured snails, you'll eventually be told their different uses, but it can be deciphered if you take note of it. As mentioned before, I find it amazing how Luffy is presented as a show don't tell MC, unlike most shonen MCs; We don't ever hear his inner thoughts, and yet through his actions we understand him well enough. It is always fun when he "throws us off". e.g, despite his self-confidence and strong mindedness, we are shown another layer of his emotional intelligence through how quickly he learns from Vivi and easily prostrates himself. That caught me off guard and made me wonder just how wise and smart this "dumb" kid is. Also, Vivi a leader of men for real for real. Like most anime shows, arcs and characters will have OST motifs that are either arc/character exclusive or are used from that arc onwards. Drum introduces a fave of mine, the one that plays when Dalton starts talking about the "witch". It is very consistent throughout this arc. For musicians such as yourselves, I think you guys are going to really appreciate when these sonic motifs are used in the story and the moments they are used in. Luffy's ability to naturally connect with animals is a very interesting trait of his, I absolutely love it. Wapol is arguably one of the most well executed characters/villians on this show. He is a great example of how and why I feel considering OP an epic adventure than a shonen is the most fitting way to view it. Lastly, Devil fruit powers theoretically enable a person to make use of any feature/characteristic of the concept the fruit represents. The extent is then user specific. Till the next one

Nice, Drum Island! I like this island because we get character development from Luffy. Vivi shows her leadership and Luffy learns that different actions other than violence can get you better results. Then while climbing the mountain instead of fighting he's dodging to save Nami. It's a lesson that sticks with him and he utilizes it more down the line. We get our first hint of Chopper, can't wait to see your reactions when we meet him. You guys make a point we start to see more Devil Fruits the farther we go into the Grant Line. They're no longer rare, but they get crazier! lol Great start to my Sunday morning!

Great reaction as always👍 When you were talking about good people having devil fruit powers you forgot to mention Smoker😉 By the way, the scene with Dalton injuring Wapol was censored in the anime. The crazy thing is that in the manga Dalton actually cut his head off (which is wild!) and then his doctors/medics sew in his head back into his body. I know, it's crazy lol😅 And finally, it was nice that you got to talk about Toriyama in this bunch of episodes that you reacted to since dr. Kureha's voice actor is the same voice actor of Goku in the Japanese version of Dragon Ball😃 Yeah, it was very sad that Toriyama died and that young too😥 Obviously, I grew up watching Dragon Ball as a kid too, same as most of the people who were born from the late 80's to early 90s and afterwards. Dragon Ball was very important to me since it got me into the anime world. I have watched other animes before Dragon Ball but it was the first which I was aware that it was an anime in the first place and even if I was accustomed to some other animes, Dragon Ball was still very unique and original and was the first anime that truly blew me away. I never got hooked so much into a series before discovering Dragon Ball.

Do you think they’ll more faithfully adapt those things when they come out with that remake of OP in the future? Definitely had to say some words about Toriyama. And what a coincidence about Nozawa! Jonathan mentioned that it sounded like Gokus VA but that’ll be in the next reaction. Assuming it makes it in. We definitely had a similar experience that’s for sure! @@DUAnime.Official Well, maybe not exactly "sew" but generally reattached his head back on😉No idea if they are going to uncensor everything that Toei animation have censored from the manga, it would be great if they do so🙂 Well, maybe not exactly sew Since we are now talking about censorship, there are some other stuff that Toei has censored for example from the Little Garden arc that I wanted to clue you in but forgot to do so😁 If you remember there was a scene with Brogy (the giant with the blonde beard) who cut the head of a dinosaur the first time when he met Nami and Usopp. Well, in the manga you can clearly see the exact moment where he cut the head of that dinosaur whereas in the anime it was rather screened off. But this is nothing, here comes the crazy stuff😁 In the anime there was a scene where Brogy lies on the floor having his feets and hands blocked/stucked on the ground with Mr. 3's clay on in the forms of some sort of handcuffs. Then if you remember Mr. 3 proceeds with impaling his hands and feets with some giant clay knives/swords. The difference between the anime and the manga is the fact that even though in the anime he had his hands and feets impaled they were still all covered with Mr. 3's clay on and basically you could not see any blood at all, whereas in the manga they were completely bare and so the blood was very visible obviously. But the crazier part comes afterward😅 If you remember after Luffy together with Usopp and Carue reach everybody else (meaning the rest of the Strawhats, Vivi and the Baroque Work agents), Zoro, Nami and Vivi asks Luffy to destroy the clay pillar which held the clay pumpkin with the candles on top that were turning them into clay statues. In the anime Luffy wraps his arms on/around one of Brogy's helmet's horns in order to rotate his body around to hit and destroy that pillar. But in the manga he instead wraps his hands on one of Mr. 3's giant clay knives/swords with which he impaled one of Brogy's hands and while Luffy rotates his body around, the knife/sword moves quite a bit which causes quite some pain to Brogy😂🤣 You may think that I am making up some crazy fake ass bullshits but it is all true, believe me🤣 If you don't believe me you can check it up for yourself by reading One Piece chapters 122 and 123 on the web/online😉 Overall the manga can at times be much gorier and more violent than the Anime and more explicit overall. The manga even showed when did Sanji start to smoke cigarettes. There was a flashback back in the Baratie arc that the Anime didn't show. Sanji basically started smoking cigarettes when he was a kid after he met Zeff and moved with him in the Baratie restaurant😁He wanted to show Zeff that he was a grown man😅

Devil fruit is divided into 3 type:Zoan,Logia and Paramecia 1.Zoan Devil fruit is a fruit that can make the user turn into all type of animal base on the respective fruit (Example Dalton Devil fruit Ox Ox Fruit model Bison) 2.Logia devil fruit is a fruit that make the user become,produce and control elemental power (Example Smoker Plump Plump Fruit) 3.Paramecia devil fruit is anything that make the user not turn into what zoan and logia give. Example (Buggy Chop Chop Fruit).

At this point, you've been introduced to all 3 categories of Devil Fruit, even if not by name. Btw, while Blackbeard is a very apparent reference to the reallife Blackbeard, at least by name, he is by no means the first. Alvida is actually also referring to a reallife female pirate (I forgot the specific name, but I remember reading about that in the back of Vol1 or 2 of the manga). OP in general is very rich with reallife history and or media references as well as allegory [Wapol making Drums health system (however it was structured before) into a capitalist monopoly one for example, but there will come so many cases more - some quite subtle, some rather apparent]

Ohhhh I’m so excited for the next few episodes! One of the episodes coming up made me scream out of shock and pure horrified empathy! I can’t wait to see you guys react to it lol I think my favorite thing in these episodes was Vivi throwing some shade Luffy’s way, that’s gonna be something that sticks with him. Ahhhh the first Blackbeard reference! THATS very exciting for you guys! So Oda LOVES pirate history, he is a huge nerd for it, he names many many many characters after famous real life pirates and privateers from that time period! Jack sparrow is pretty loosely based off the real pirate Calico Jack, who was married to the infamous Ann Bonney. Her famous last words to him was “if you’d fought like a man, you wouldn’t be hung like a dog”, (this has nothing to do with anything I just also adore pirate history and wanted to share this cool bit of info lol) I’d personally love to see Oda make a Calico Jack inspired character cause he’s one of the few that haven’t yet had a character named for him! Him and Mary Read.

Some the characters are based on really pirates or really people. Also Japanese always put the last name first so like if I was in Japan this how my name would be Turner Marie Tracey-Anne but because I live in Australia it is Tracey-Anne Marie Turner like the do in the UK and USA
