I agree with what you said about the kotobukiya yoda, it does look stylized. I'm digging the model kit even without the articulation. little bit of paint and it's nearly perfect.

I see what you mean, it is really distracting of how underwhelming Yoda seems compared to previous model kits, really because of how realtively "more complete" previous model kits looked without stickers or paint due to the nature of them either being droids, troopers, or inbetweeners like Vader. Still, like to see more organic ones.

The 1:12 Yoda looks good. It'd be nice if Bandai released that with their R2-D2 model kit. I'd definitely pick that up.

the unreadable stuff at the back of the manual under the instructions for the 1/12 Yoda is actually an order form that's used for ordering replacement parts if you break or lose something, sadly that service is only available in Japan.

They look good, I wish my nerves were not so bad so that I could build and paint the model kits because they are really nice and you actually have a well articulated figure in most cases when you are done.

Why does the 1/6 Yoda have a bald head? Am I missing something? (I still love the Koto Yoda. I think it looks great but the model kit will look good once painted too).

Built painted and finished Yoda, hated the decals so I painted the eyes and light saber the best I can Robo.

I wish they'd just stuck to the 1/12 scale, do one from Empire, one from TPM and one from Episode 3 maybe. At least they'd all fit with all my other Bandai figures.

Robo, I had the same opinion as you with Yoda appearing plain, but a simple coat of brown wash really brings the figure to life! it's like night and day. I also did up his outfit in a darker, more oatmeal color with a brown under wash to fantastic results. I was surprised how little paint it took to make this figure great. I recommend you paint both!

Nice review (even if I really disliked the figures design, but that's not your fault) - Always fun to watch you build. Saves me the trouble of going mad when I mess up and getting glue all over myself. Great that you brought in the Black Series and Kotobukiya. I will happily blend different brands to achieve the look I'm after.

Watching this review reminded me of the announcement that the Star Wars character model kits will be available in retail stores in Southeast Asia .

Great video Fwoosh. I like you was very underwhelmed with this kit. The parts didn't join together as well as I hoped and I had to use a load of model putty to hide the seams before painting. It was also the most 'plastic' kit I have built of the Star Wars Bandai range so far and for the money I paid, I really did expect a lot more. Like yourself, I felt that it was definitely missing something. Maybe a diorama base of the inside of his hut or a swamp diorama would have added but I can always try and custom something myself. Bandai need to be careful and not just throw out classic figures for the sake of it, and really look forward to the 2018 range and hope that we have some really inspired kits from the new movie.

I hope bandai continues to do more 1/6 scale stuff, with a decent talent at paint application, you could compete with hot toys and sideshow at like a quarter of the price, which would be awesome for collectors (that are basically being robbed at this point)

Alright Robo - you got me into S.H. FIguarts... Bandai kits... and custom third party soft goods. But the Star Wars collection is looking so good as a result. Really like the kit review but since I'm not into weathering I'll have to stick to the Kotobukiya Yoda. But seeing how good the organic character came out got me thinking of other non-humans that would look good. Cad Bane would be an awesome addition... then I wouldn't have to get around to finishing mine.

Great review Robo, really enjoyed it my kit should arrive this week (or next week) and I'm looking forward building it. I currently don't have a 1/6 or 1/12 Yoda on display, and now that I know that these are good figures, I can't wait to actually put him/them in my collection. By the way, I've seen quite a few people using cotton swabs or something similar as hair for Yoda (on the bald headsculpts). I thought that was a pretty cool (and unexpectedly good looking) solution, so maybe you're interested in trying that out some time as well :) looking forward to the next review and especially next character model kit (General Grievous)

Very enjoyable video , as always. I'm not the only one that always screws up SOMEthing with these kits, then 😅 While the sculpt is really good, the different pieces don't really mesh well together and 1/6th Yoda looks so...segmented. And you've gotta have some l33t paintingskillz to get the best out of these kits. I'm very happy with my Koto Yoda in my 1/12 so I don't feel the need to get this kit, though.

I recently discovered the star wars star tours yoda from 2005 that's the perfect size for the black series figures picked it up for a nickel at a flea market weathered it and threw it next to bespin luke and said ¤#÷% the black series yoda!!!

Robo, far be it from me to judge your collecting habits but may I say that you being underwhelmed with this kit perhaps has less to do with not having an articulated OT Yoda and more to do with how incomplete they both look without the user doing their own painting? Pretty much the only kits you can get away with not painting at all are the stormtroopers, clone troopers, death trooper and mayyyybe the droids, Kylo Ren and Cpt. Phasma but those are pushing it. These are model kits; they are meant to be painted in order to look like the source material. If you had painted up your BB-8 and Boba Fett kits, I think you would've had a much, much harder time deciding to replace them with the Mafex versions. Again, I'm not trying to judge you or imply you are doing something wrong, but I fear you may eventually just feel less and less thrilled with the model kits if you don't add your personal touch to them.

Actually, to me, the Black Series Yoda looks more to scale. Maybe a bit too big tho. I actually think that the Kotobukiya looks the best in terms of scaling with that Luke there.
