Whoo, finally! The last video of the year. You have no idea how hard it was for me to keep tightlipped about this video. Every time I saw someone request a Canon or Cannot video about him, or whenever someone mistakenly remembers Bandana Dee previously having his OWN video, there was a lot of internal screaming, lol. Gotta say, grew to love this guy so much more after making a video about him! =D Also, as far as I can tell this will probably also be the last ‘standard’ Kirby Canon I could make until the next MAINLINE game. Please correct me if I am wrong, here are a few requests others had: Susie: Already talked about in Haltmann & Star Dream (In fact the entirety of new info in the remake was about her specifically) Gooey: Talked about all I could in Dark Matter’s remake Galacta Knight Remake: Currently, the videos Galacta Knight, Morpho Knight, and Super Kirby Canon all segue into each other. So I’ll hold off on this one, as the next game seems to imply him coming back in the MAIN story Mr. Star and/or Gryll: Pretty sure this request is a joke, but I could always play the English Fan translation of Super Star Stacker, just in case Animal Friends: I tried, MULTIPLE times. i love this little guy. i think it's really interesting how kirby characters can be so simple yet have so much depth and charm to them when you read into how they're portrayed across the series. bandana going from a fiercely loyal servant of dedede's to an eager ally of kirby's is real good.

It’s my personal headcannon that the Waddle Dee in Kirby 64 is the same Waddle Dee with the bandanna we see today. I think it just fits so well with how at first he was a little defenseless, but soon became a force to be reckoned with like Kirby. Either way you see it though, he’s a SUPER good boi that needs to be in Smash.

I do want to point out that there's a title screen animation in Star Allies featuring the Kirby 64 cast, with parasol waddle dee filling in for the waddle dee. The only reason Bandanna Dee is used in the trailer is that the parasol dee is only red when he's player 1, which is impossible with Kirby around since Kirby has to be player 1.

Of all of the highly requested characters that have yet to be included in Smash Bros. Bandana Waddle Dee, as well as Dixie Kong, was always a character I never understood why he was never included. Waluigi and Geno are exclusive to spinoff titles, Sora is owned by Disney, which would be a legal hell, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came out too late in development for Rex and Pyra/Mythra, and Shadow and Dante have really no reason why there not in. But Bandana Dee is a first party character and Sakurai made him, albeit all of his character were made long after Sakurai left HAL Laboratory, we have no spear users in Smash so I would love to see him make the roster. As well as Dixie Kong, can we please have Dixie Kong?

Maybe that was Bandana Dee with out the Bandana that snatched Kirby's cake in Squeak Squad Only to get Kirby's antention to tell him Dedede was robbed only for Kirby to think Dedede stole his cake. And Bandana Dee forgot to give Kirby his cake back. Which is why the Squeaks give Kirby another piece of Strawberry Shortcake at the end.

I've been trying to figure out how Bandee can be Dedede's most loyal soldier but go on to curbstomp him in BR and KF2 for a while now. Thank you.

One thing you could have adressed along with Adeleine's trailer, is that in the short sequences that play while in the title screen, there is one that also references Kirby 64, but uses a regular Waddle Dee instead of Bandana Dee.

Bandanna Dee reminds me of the Toads in the NSMB series as they are not your generic toads, they have names and can utilize abilities thier normal counterparts cannot. Great video it's always nice to hear about kirby's friends :)

You forgot to mention the Assist Star and Kirby's initial reaction to Bandana Dee in the 3ds games. Kirby defensively flinched in the first one, showing Kirby wasn't sure about where he stood with Bandana Dee until he did that. Also the Assist Star 100% needs to be one of his special moves if he gets into smash, along with a spear that can morph into a makeshift blue umbrella.

One question I still have is who trained Bandana Dee in the ways of the spear. I don't think it's ever been explained how BD got so good with that spear. I doubt he could learn how to turn his stick into a makeshift helicopter on his own. So maybe someone trained him? if so who?

I'd like mention a small thing about KF2 This is small but if you notice in the credits you see that in every pic with Bandana Dee he's always the player 1 color and never yellow or blue or green (unless hik and Kirby are fighting another Bandee) That seems to hint that the canonical partner of KF2 was Bandee. Also given how he's the only one who you have at the start, him being the icon for player 2 and being the only character who isn't Kirby in the demo seems to back it up. .....again tho this is really small lol

There is one thing to consider when explaining why Bandanna Waddle Dee became more friendly to Kirby after Revenge of the King. This mode is somewhat based on the Extra Mode from Kirby's Dreamland on Gameboy, and it takes place after Spring Breeze (based on main story which originated on Superstar, both games released before Kirby 64. If this is true, it would explain why Dedede and Bandanna Dee have never been direct villains for so long, their rivalry has been settled. However, this only speculation, and one can argue Revenge of the King takes a different place in the timeline (if at all canon), not to mention I have failed to consider Kirby Fighters or Blowout Blast, which may or may not (also) contradict my speculations.

If they were to remake Kirby 64, it'd be neat to have a scene somewhere added somehow where Bandana Dee puts on his bandana for the first time. That'd be a neat touch.

Nice video, Meteorz. I actually recently found out something interesting regarding the Waddle Dee from Kirby 64, that I thought I might share here. If you go to the Character section on the Official Japanese Website for Kirby 64, there are bios for each main character and they are written in a way as if the characters are talking about themselves. The waddle dee's one, however, is written in brackets, and the only line that isn't put into one translates to "...And, that what he seems to be saying". Yeah, in that group Waddle Dee is the unintelligible one, not Kirby who apparently knows more words besides saying 'Hi' at every opportunity. Whenever that de-confirms Kirby 64 Waddle Dee = Bandana Waddle Dee theory, due to the latter's ability to talk, a possibility of Bandana Dee learning the language later, or an early character trait about their species that got retconned, I'll leave that for you to decide.

I think the final dlc is gonna be bandana dee if it’s not waluigi. It just makes sense. The character is popular with both Japanese and western audiences, and doesn’t have much controversy besides the people who argue “waddle dee with a hat”. It would be a good way to end this era of smash bro’s.

And as far back as Super Star Ultra, in the credits, they had little images of Kirby playing DS with Bandana Dee too, so the devs had been fond of him even from way back then

I didn't think about it before, but it would make sense to "retcon" the generic Waddle Dee in 64 to be Bandana Dee, it would make sense and give the character even more history with Kirby and Dedede! I just wander, how is he alive? Like, in Mario, you can make an argument koopas are knocked unconcious (besed on RPGs), or that they are teleported to the empire's castle... But Kirby straight up swallows them and makes them either into stars he shoots, or digests them... And you can't really say when the star collides with something and explodes into smaller stars/smoke, that DeDeDe teleports them and heal them in his kingdom, since He doesn't have a Kamek as far as I know... In other platforms, Eggman just rebuilds badniks, but Waddle dees are biological, right? Cortex's troops are most likely knocked unconcious, Razor beard has a robot army again... In spyro there are no reacquiring minor antagonist as far as I know... Yeah, Kirby is the only one of the big bois who doesn't have an explanation... What, do they have lives, like in Mario's canon? I guess they are part of the extended multiverse, but that would... well, in mario it actually made sense, since 1-up have magical properties, but in Kirby 1-up items are especially tied to him... I really don't know... Don't have a single explanation for how bandana dee lives....

I mean, a true friend will stand up to your bullshit, so him aiding Kirby against Dedede’s antics makes sense.

I personally believe that 64 Dee is not Bandee, as I feel like fans are trying to give him points he doesn't need, you know? He's good enough as his own character, and there isn't much pointing to it other than Bandee fans (not to say I'm NOT a fan of Bandee) projecting their liking of Bandee on any chance of ambiguity suggesting it, you know? He doesn't NEED to be 64 Dee, he's cool on his own merit.
