Norfolk always acts a fool in other band’s stadiums…something about them feeling freer and looser when they aren’t in Norfolk…expect an intense battle with Tenn State…Tenn State ain’t about to let another band show them up on their homecoming…if you know Norfolk like I do, their intention will be to take Tenn State’s crowd…ask FAMU😂😂😂

As an nsu tuba player, that Across 110th street bass line was hard to crank. That song is more felt than heard and it has its times where we could push but overall not a crank song for tubas😭

That piece that NSU played at 20:00 is Ai No Corrida. It's by Quincy Jones. Love their creativity when it comes to music selection. Their director really challenges them with those type of pieces.

A&t kinda disappointed me on this one. Trumpets really dropped it for the rest of the band tbh. They have nice arrangements but the execution is not consistent. Im not surprised they left, cause if i was bd listening to those fluffs i woulda got back on the bus too 🤡 I will give a shout to their bones and tubas cause they are carrying lol. Behold 🔰💪

This was good. As for those talking about Norfolk can't hang with SU and JSU, you might be right because the Legion will never submit to just "blowing to be blowing." They will keep their wall of sound, their tradition, and keep musicianship above all else. The same reason why JSU/SU fans don't like FAMU in the SWAC.

I’ve never heard those fans say they don’t like FAMU in the swac. I don’t even know why jsu and su is being brought up on this video with ncat and nsu anyway. On top of that, people have preferences and just because they prefer more aggressive styled bands doesn’t mean those bands lack musicianship compared to bands that “stay in the pocket”.

I love NSU's band but when it comes to NCAT it seems they have the 'little man' syndrome. Is it the rivalry or are ppl just jealous? I don't see this same energy coming from NCAT and I'm on the outside looking in. Imo, NSU just needs to let their band/culture speak for itself and stop comparing themselves to ANYBODY. No disrespect or shade, I'm just reading comments and it seems like NSU ppl always salty for not getting the recognition they want or feel like they deserve but it' not NCAT's fault! NCAT is going to always reign supreme at what they do bc they stay in their own lane and not bothered about what other ppl think. Ppl throw shade at them about the # of GD members, they say Coldsteel only entertains, they use mics, on and on and on. But they are NOT gonna change just bc you don't like what they do. My opinion.

It is so good to see a band critique channel on here. Y’all know more about the intricacies of the sound than I would as just a spectator, but I just love to hear my HBCU bands go at it, but being an Aggie myself , I’m always gonna root for the blue and gold.

Norfolk State university is the MOST MUSICAL HBCU BAND IN HISTORY. They are the reigning champions of musicality. NCAT is Norfolks Long Time Rival And Honestly Norfolk Is Even Better On The Field Than They Are In The Stands They Just Built Like That 😂😂😂

I disagree with Norfolk being boring. Annihilate should cook a little more. Once they clean it up that joint gonna crank. Both bands had good arrangements. Norfolk more balanced

I personally don't like that arrangement but maybe you are right. I'll give it a chance. NSU seemed off their game to me. NCAT has a lot of cleaning up to do. They played better vs NCCU. Trumpets and Euphos need work. Weakest part of the band.

Bruh I said the same thing on another video for this battle. It was hella boring. NSU sounds good yes but it seemed like neither band had any energy behind their playing. The song selections didn't help either. I probably would have left after the second round real talk🤷🏾‍♂️

The 5th wasn’t it. NCAT had better selections tho. Them trumpets and euphoniums struggled. Nsu is just boring af. Sounded pretty decent. Their sound was spotty in sections as well. Halftime tho?? A&T took that easily

The last really good NCAT band was 2021 imo. Been a bit downhill since. This band is good but not as good as in past years. Better this year than last. NCAT played better vs the Eagles in the stands. I am going to chalk this one up to a bad 5th qtr for them. Whoever that one trumpet was that missed all them notes killed it for us. Strike got out if control for the trumpets at the end. NSU seemed off their game. No energy. Overall I'd say not a good job for both bands.

From my understanding They only use professional microphones for their KZfaq Channel videos. That's the only purpose for mics. Most bands with a media team use mics for media purposes.

Im going to join in. Norfolk has always had T's number but Norfolk is very boring and WILL put you to sleep. Norfolk cant handle SU nor JSU probably some other SWAC Bands this year. As an Aggie, Norfolk good sounds but boring!!

Only thing SU/ JSU have over Norfolk is size! If NSU marched 300+ every year it would be a different story. They dont miss a beat musically, and execute every time. But 200 will never sound like 300. Especially when people in the south favor volume/intensity. It works in SU and JSUs favor. NSU would out music basically every SWAC band and match southern, but yall dont want that.

@legion2004 so you're saying you "can't hear" the Legion. 🤣 cmon now. Let's not act like they don't have power at all. You have to play music for it to be heard. Playing every song in FFFF isn't always called for, and most times it just covers all the moving parts in a good arrangement. And for a "book", there arent long 5ths or "zero quarters" in the meac. So you just never hear all the songs they have. Doesn't mean they don't exist.
