TBH, they made SWAC tuba sections become more creative when it came to writing a fanfare, the way we chord even in band songs, and it ushered in a new style. this year in 2021 they have 4 tubas..... and theyre STILL killing it. they still play more together than most sections, they still got more stylized arrangements than most sections, still put out more watts than a lot of larger sections, still taking Ws and making fans of larger tuba sections a lil mad. theyre still sitting within the top of the cream, imo, along with current day's best.

Born and raised in Atlanta, I marched at Bama State & I play trombone. I’ve never seen VSU in person but their tuba section is LEGENDARY. Respect to them..they don’t care if you’re SWAC, MEAC, SIAA or CIAA. They’re able to compete with any section

Yo KB, nobody in HBCU tuba section was messing with them. I was Trombone section leader for BSU (Bowie State University) from 99- 02, and Horsepower was mediocre. I believe this version of Horsepower started in 03 or 04. No tuba section was playing this type of comlex fanfares. I was like damn, what superman juice have they been drinking lol. They would just keep getting better topping their previous year. I respected them because they were like my Trombone section Elements of Destruction (E.O.D) We was running through CIAA trombone sections with these powerful fanfares that was never heard before! I wish I could find some footage of my section from 99-02.

A lot of the content you have are practice runs believe or not.

Listen I marched at alabama a&m 02 and will say that I was skeptical about any meac schools tuba section. Those tubas probably reign Supreme in there conference would love to see them put pressure on those big schools. I believe some of your favorite schools would take a serious L.
