Careful with that 78hp! Tbh it's all you need. I've had a bunch of 150bhp bikes and my mk2 600 bandit had more than enough poke for any situation. My ego said I needed stupid power but my ability never matched my ego. Good result! 👍🤗❤️

The mot wouldn't be able to pick up on any mechanical issues or restrictions. Constructive changes I'm guessing is something structural that's changed. New swing arm, new shocks, or new seat etc

If you do swell the diaphragms by getting carb cleaner on them and they change shape dont worry!!! Soak them in water over night, they will go right back to original size.

I mistakenly soaked the diaphragms in carb cleaner. They became completely out of shape. I was very disappointed and was going to have to order new ones. I soaked them in water over night and to my surprise....they went right back to their original shape and retained the same rubbery properties. I chemist is going to have to explain to me how that is possible, but it is!@@motorcyclerescuer

@@motorcyclerescuer had my bandit since 2002 new and always a flat spot around 5-6k REPAIR KIT CARB Rebuild 26-1664 made by All Bulls Racing has nicely machined parts and it now flies compared to stock kit. That's interesting, I've never seen/felt a flat spot on any bandits that I can remember. They are normally super smooth throughout the rev range. But yes as you say, stock jetting included slight restriction for emissions reasons. Either too rich or too lean.

@motorcyclerescuer
@motorcyclerescuer Жыл бұрын
Fuel never touches them Terence, but when cleaning some people spray up into their area and carb cleaners aren't very good for rubber. So I tend not to mess with them unless I really feel that they may need changing

I’m, fair anchoring over a nice bandit, year not so important but I would gladly swap my Honda NT700VA 2007 with 25,000 true miles on it for the right one. Preferably a 1200 Mines as always with my bikes immaculate, truly as new with no signs of winter damage. At 63 even though I should know better I’m having strong urges, lol, keep your eyes out for one if you could Charlie, I only took mine for it’s Mot plus one 90 mile ride last year, I dare not say anything to my wife at the moment cos I actually said this would be my last bike ever!

The 1200 bandits are starting to get more rare. I had one some years back and didn't feel the power to weight was much better then the 600 really. If the 1200 is slightly tuned it can be incredible.

Honestly I like a bandit from mk 1 upwards but something about the more basic nature of the earlier ones appeals to me. Saying that this one, Gary's one is so smooth. So honestly I think you can't go wrong with whatever you get. I highly recommend a blue flame twin exit end pipe on these. One if the best sounds out there. Thanks for watching.

@@motorcyclerescuer Thanks for your tip mate. It is there a big torque feel difference between the 600cc and 650cc model?
@motorcyclerescuer
@motorcyclerescuer 10 ай бұрын
Great question, I prefer the 600 for its revs, but the 650 does feel a touch better on torque. Gary's 2005/2006 model is the best of all worlds I believe. Old bandit looks with a great carbed engine. I suggest you try both before buying. You won't feel much difference between them so it will probably come down to looks though.

@motorcyclerescuer
@motorcyclerescuer 10 ай бұрын
I'm unsure what the washers were restricting the bike to if I'm being honest. Possibly the new a2 47bhp as you say. In the past I believe bikes were restricted to less if you passed your test on a bike smaller then 500cc. So it could be a 47bhp or 35bhp

I cleaned carbs now the engine is racing on tick over?
@motorcyclerescuer
@motorcyclerescuer 4 ай бұрын
Hi Stephen, was it high tickover before cleaning? It could be a few issues mate. Idle screw adjustment. Balance issues Diaphragm issues especially after cleaning carbs. If any of the cleaner got onto the Diaphragms then they could have got out of shape. Air leak would also cause idle issues. So a suction tube not put back on or a carb boot not fully seated. You will have to look into all of these to try and find your issue mate

You will need to check the airbox to make sure no oil is in it and its worth cleaning the spark plugs for the same reason. When you say no power, do the dash lights come on and it try to start?
@yurei2114
@yurei2114 8 ай бұрын
It still worked for about an hour just fine after the drop but after that it stalled and wouldn’t start. Got it home and now when I turn the key the Neutral and oil lights come on but lose brightness as the bike sits, same for the headlight. The horn makes a small kinda chirp sound as if it honks for a split second. The turn signals won’t come on and when I try to start the bike it makes a click sound then loses power gradually for every try after that.
