Bandit Airdrive / pusher fan on 1436 jon boat

This is our new Bandit 44 Airdrive running on a 1436 jon boat, based on the airdrives we've developed for small hovercraft. The production version will come with a Kohler 25 hp engine, or optional Kohler 26.5 hp EFI engine. Speed is about 20 mph. This setup is great for getting into shallow water where outboard motors are damaged by debris and thick vegetation. Visit www.banditairdrives.com for more info!

Jon boat + bandit airdrive = boat + snow vehicle. I live in Ontario and walking on the ice (to fishing spots) is a pain in the ass. With this you get a fast boat and snowmobile.

Seems to me this is the best of both worlds you can go anywhere you want to go you are not dragging a prop of water you're not sucking up dirt and debris in a jet

Looks slick! This might also work on our lake at times when the ice is too thin to safely walk on or drive a snow machine and too thick to use an outboard.

Awesome recommendation from you tube, makes a change. Looking forward to exploring your channel a bit, I've seen a few Briggs in homebuilt aircraft and am interested in anything with a prop on it.

Great way of moving around indeed. Is the prop on those moving on idle speed or only when revving up

There’s no clutch, so the propeller is turning even when the engine is idling. But it doesn’t generate very much thrust at idle so it doesn’t move very much

@@LoneStarHovercraftthere is one company in the mud motor world that is now offering a "retriever" clutch (as mudskipper calls it) effectively converting a direct drive to a centrifugal clutch. I wonder if that will be in the future for these types of air drives. It would be pretty sweet.

What size motor used? Harbor freight 22 works good I hear with the reduction drive.

This is a Subaru 25 hp, but the HF 22 hp works well too

I live in Louisiana and we have a lot of weeds both above and below the water ! I would like to see this thing go through some thick heavy weeds - can it do that?

Yes, it has a lanyard kill switch similar to the ones on jet skis

So it takes 25Hp air prop to go as fast as a 5hp outboard

Yes, a propeller in the air is much less efficient than a propeller in the water

It’s about 25 mph with one person, and 18-20 mph with 2 people

Yes, we’re still in business. We have a couple of the small Airdrives in stock now, and we’ve replaced the one in this video with a simpler direct drive version called the Bandit 38. You can see details on our website.
