Production, fuel economy and a continuous uninterrupted flow of material through the chipper are important factors in a successful whole tree chipping operation
The logging crew at Nelson Forest Products in Mora, MN., were easily keeping a 26" capacity, 765 horsepower chipper from a competitive chipper manufacturer fed with whole trees. Realizing that they could cut and skid more than they could chip, they looked for a more productive chipper. That’s when they discovered the 36" diameter Bandit Model 3590XL with 1,200 hp.

We offer several different engines and size. John Deere, CAT, Cummins, GM, Chrysler, Ford, are just a few options. The horsepower range for this particular model is 875-1,200hp.

What..40 tonnes in to a tandem axle trailer..? Those tyres must be good to burst at that weight! What gross weight are those trucks running at then - I thought the US max was 88,000lbs? We get approx 30 tons on Tri-axles in the UK..

Apologies for the confusion. The 38-40 tons would be the gross weight or 80,000lbs, the US limit.

Thanks for clarifying - I did think you would need one of those 'Michigan specials' to carry a 40 ton payload. I'm assuming a payload of 24-26 tonnes then. Awesome chipper too..

Wood chips like these are typically taken to Biomass power plants where they are burned and converted to energy.

It can depend on the operation. Each company and job has different ways of doing things. Rules and regulations vary by area as well. The Bandit 3590XL can handle material up to 36" in diameter, so the machine can handle the large logs if the job calls for it.

Bandit Chippers do they also haul out the larger logs for paper on log trucks

Yes, some companies elect to chip the tops and haul out the larger material. Each company and job site varies.
