Hi Everyone! I'll have the Beolab 4 bought them new in 2007, still own them and we use these in our bedroom with the original floorstands, for meditating or just relax music to fall asleep. Every time as we use these with our sonos Connect in our house ecosystem the surprised me how good they are, clear highs, nice mid and Bass, good enough for our use. In our living room the Beolab 8000😊 love Bang & Olufsen and you're channel Steve! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 😃

Beolab 3’s are still the little uncrowned kings in the B&O catalogue, in a way like the Beolab 17’s which also don’t get the appropriate amount of love. Both can hang with giants like the Beolab 18 and 8000’s and placement is much more universally possible in any place/location. Great video as always!

Thanks! I hadn't realised until now just how good they are, for the size there is nothing to match them

@@soundsheavenly The 3's were the first B&O speakers that I'd heard, just in passing and by accident, about 10 years ago in a store. I had small Anthony Gallo's speakers (Due's) at home at the time, but the 3's when I heard them immediately left me thinking "what the hell".....I use them as rears in my lounge, and I love them. That said, for a good sized listening room, my 18's on their own are ample for music, where the 3's on their own aren't as big staging wise. Still absolute gems though

I have some Beolab 4's which were marketed as Computer add-on speakers. In that sense, they are ok but, as you say, no way near the Beolab 3's- I think it is not really a fair comparison. However, I still use my old 6000's and 8000's for music streaming which were once part of a TV surround setup with the marvellous Beosystem AV9000 in the 80's and 90's.and still give excellent sou nd

That is a fair comment - the outcome of this test was never really in doubt ;-) The next test should be much closer - Beolab 3 vs Beolab 8000 - please subscribe to my channel to be the first to see the next review..... I hope to also cover Beolab 6000 and 8000 in more detail soon, as these are great speakers.

Great review.. Yes the 3 are one of the best speakers and are also very good in a bigger room together with the 18 in a surround setup.

Steve, how do you think the BeoLab 3’s compare to the Penta’s. This may be an unfair comparison but I’ve just acquired a Beomaster 6500 and CD 6500 and am looking for some speakers to match with. I’m keen to go down the active route and have been looking for some Penta’s but the BeoLab 3’s seem to get excellent reviews also. Thanks for your great channel and if you have any different recommendations to match with the 6500 I’m all ears 👍
@soundsheavenly5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words. These are both great speakers in their own way, but very different in their size and power. Beolab Penta will fill any size of room or hall with ease, but the much smaller Beolab 3 are best suited to compact rooms. Beolab 9 and 8000 are other good speakers to consider, but absolutely anything is possible for use with the 6500 system. Please ask at soundsheavenly.com if you need any help connecting your chosen speakers!
@davew71335 ай бұрын
@@soundsheavenly I really like crisp treble with a warm base and listening to you suspect the 3’s would be a better option. I love the idea of the Penta’s but they won’t be in a ‘hall’ playing high vol so probably wouldn’t be used in their ‘sweet spot’. Thanks again.

Thanks! I have reviewed some Beolab 4 covers on my channel which came from a company called Beocovers, they should be easily found via a Google search. You can see the video here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qtqgmKamsb_Mfp8.html

Hi great video!! I've been wanting to get me a pair of these speakers. One of the issues some owners have claimed, is that the case gets sticky and that is hard to get. If there any way to get replacement cases for this? Or what would be the recommendation. Again great video and thanks for all the great content!!
@soundsheavenly3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There is no need to worry if the cases get sticky, these are easy to clean and respray by any good car body paint shop. You can then choose any colour you like for the case!

Like comparing Hercules with Mr. Bean in an arm wrestle !!! But get your drift....you're comparing sizes . Still unfair , as the BL3s have an extra driver . But nice listening to both through headphones. Mind you , the BL4s are still nice sounding speakers, for the purposes intended for . Cheers , job well done !
